Becws | Romantic Self Catering Cottage, Sea Views | Llanbedr, Snowdonia

Becws, overlooking Shell Island and Cardigan Bay

Becws used to be an old bakery but don’t worry you wont be expected to wake up at the crack of dawn to bake any bread. The building has of course been lovingly restored into a great little holiday cottage. A big oak front door leads you straight into the living area. A high lofted oak beamed ceiling provides a sense of space and light. A large inglenook complete with the original baking ovens dominates the right side of the room. To the left oak kitchen units provide a well equipped food preparation area.

The pretty bedroom has a king sized bed as well as plenty of wardrobe space and lighting. The bathroom next door is spacious and comes complete with a hydrotherapy steam shower. You can of course turn a few nobs and just use it as an ordinary shower if you prefer.

Funnily enough one of the nicest parts of this cottage is the corridor which connects these two living spaces. This corridor has been glazed down one side. Which allows guests to drink in the magnificent views that this cottage enjoys. The french doors here give access to a small, private and sheltered courtyard area. Just perfect for enjoying a glass of wine as the sun dips down into cardigan bay at the end of a relaxing day.

Location

Becws might have the best views of all our properties. Sitting in a slightly elevated position this great little cottage looks out over the sands of Shell Island and the Artro estuary and onto Cardigan Bay and the mountains of the Llyn Peninsula beyond. The little village of Llanbedr is about a mile down the road. There are two pubs in the village as well as a small grocery store, post office and butchers.

You’re right on the doorstep of Cwm Nantcol and the Rhinnog Mountains so plenty of opportunities for walkers. And the beaches along this stretch of the north wales coastline are among the nicest in the UK. And no, it doesn’t always rain in wales. Other attractions include golf on the Royal St Davids links course in Harlech, mountain biking at the award winning Coed Y Brennin Centre and White water rafting on the Tryweryn river.

First visit to Wales, absolutely stunning. Will definitely go back. The cottage was so charming and characterful and with such lovely views from the patio area. We were greeted at the end of each exhilarating day by the three resident farm dogs adding that little welcoming touch. Area is fantastic with so much to see, we didn’t even touch the sides of it, from mountains to coastal walks, places to visit, you certainly won’t be disappointed. Would certainly recommend. Wine and welsh cakes much appreciated from the owners who were welcoming and helpful. Special place with special memories to look back on.

  2. Kim Davidson, Worcestershire says:

A beautiful and charming cottage which was lovely and warm in November. While situated next to other inhabited farm buildings, it was very private and quiet with front facing views of a beautiful coastline. We spent a lot of time on Royal St David’s golf course and it was a great location for some good little restaurants. There is so much to do in Snowdonia that you can’t get bored! Would definitely recommend as a fantastic alternative to hotels or b&b’s as life moves at your own pace! Many thanks for a lovely stay.

Sunset from Becws over Shell Island and the Llyn PeninsulaSometimes, having looked forward to a treat for quite some time, one can be really disappointed at the reality. NOT THIS TIME. I had booked ‘BECWS’ back in February to celebrate my hubby’s birthday just gone. Wanted peace, quiet and comfort and found all three. On our arrival we were made to feel so welcome. The old bakery accommodation is excellent. Fitted out to a really high standard we lacked for nothing. The location was ideal. Close to beaches and only short drives to great tourist spots such as Portmeirion and Carnarvon Castle. Whilst it’s late in the year the weather was mild and we were able to enjoy beautiful views across fields to the sea from the cottage and walk along the sandy coastline. A gem of a location. The ‘welcome’ welsh cakes were delicious!!

  4. Catherine M, London says:

Absolutely stunning! Owners were so friendly & welcoming, everything was waiting for us on our arrival & loved coming back after exploring the vast local area everyday to be greeted by the lovely dogs.

The cottage is perfectly situated to visit national parks, beautiful beaches & wonderful historic sites. Lots of local information available & kept in the cottage so was lovely to sit in of an evening & plan the following day with all the information at hand.

The TV & Sky were a pleasant, unexpected bonus!

  5. Rob & Kirsty, Yorkshire says:

Lovely accomodation, the cottage was beautiful. Very welcoming hosts. Surrounding area beautiful. Friendly locals.

  6. Catrin & Mark, Caerphilly says:

Fabulous little place, very cosy and comfortable. We stayed in January so the gas fire and wonderful hot shower were extremely welcome! The kitchen had everything we needed for a couple of cosy nights in, and the owner was very friendly (my husband enjoyed the welsh cakes v much!). Great views over to Pen Llyn and a perfect location for the coast and the mountains.

  7. Emma & Peter, Staffordshire says:

Another wonderful stay in this beautiful location. The cottage is so comfortable and beautifully decorated, we loved the shower and all the welcoming animals. This really is an ideal location as you have wonderful beach and mountain walks within easy reach. The hosts our so friendly and i am sure we will be returning again!

Becws was a very nice cottage with character and pleasant views towards the coast.
Located back from the road it was quiet and peaceful yet ideally situated to access some of Wales most beautiful mountainous countryside.

  10. Carole Whiteley, London says:

The welsh weather was so good, we didn’t spend much time in the cottage! However, it is a lovely place to stay, very clean and comfy. The fabulous shower was very welcome after our long walks each day. Excellent location, friendly owners and even friendlier dogs !

  11. Andrew Dodd, Cardiff says:

The Cottage was lovely and even though it was October, the weather was dry and not to cold. The cottage its self was warm and welcoming as were the owners and their friendly dogs. The location meant that everything we wanted to see and do was only a short journey away, yet the cottage was perfect for when relaxation was needed after a hard day out walking, sight-seeing, eating or doing nothing!

    Couldn’t of asked for more!!!!!

  12. Josie and Chris, Cheshire says:

We loved our stay at Becws. The cottage was beautiful and the views even better! There are lots of gorgeous beaches nearby and only a short drive to Harlech castle. We spent lots of time exploring the coast. The only thing we struggled with was getting Internet access for our work. The local village was meant to have an Internet cafe but it was shut so we had to do a lot of exploring trying to find Internet cafes. All in all we had a lovely week with good weather and beautiful countryside.

  13. Aidan and Maria Hall, Devon says:

Definitely recommend staying at Becws. It has lovely sea views, its cosey and has all facilities you would need. The location was ideal for Barmouth and Porthmadog. The beaches near by could be accessed easily on foot.

  14. jane and david surrey says:

Very cosy well equipped cottage with fantastic views of the sunset, only an hours drive from Portmeirion and Snowdon we had the bonus of three sunny days out of five.

  15. Alexandra and Wolfgang, Germany says:

A nice cottage, a warm welcome. Also by the dogs ;-)
The view over the coast line: phantastic.

    To be recommended.
