Personally, I think a cream tea in Snowdonia tastes the best for the simple reason, one tends to enjoy them off the back of a long walk or day in the mountains climbing, cycling… you’ve ‘earned it’ and we all know how much better things taste when you’ve earned them! Here are our top 5 cream teas in Snowdonia with a couple of posh ones thrown in for those who simply want a treat…

LLEW GLAS CAFE

HARLECH

This is one of the friendliest places you will go for afternoon tea. Everything is homemade and the scones with jam and cream have certainly earned themselves a reputation as has the cafe which is listed at no 2 in Snowdonia. Sultana and cherry scones are the standard all year round flavours, but the summer sees the likes of the lemon drizzle scone return while the Christmas scone makes an appearance in December. Cream Tea starts from £4.60pp.

No doubt many of you will have seen this beautiful building over the bridge in Llanrwst, covered in ivy that changes colour with the seaons. The building, dating back to 1480 was originally a residential house, seen life as a court house and for the last 60 years, has been a Welsh Tea room. The recipe for scones is the orignal one and remains a well guarded secret. Cream teas start from £5.90 pp.
