Bryn-Du | Luxurious Three Bedroom Farmhouse with Sea Views
Property Type: Cottages, Criccieth, Farm Stay, Featured, Internet | WiFi, Pet Friendly, Real Fire, Sleeps 6-7
This traditional stone built farmhouse has been renovated to a very high standard. It offers guests that perfect mix of style and luxury set in a beautiful rural location. If that’s not enough, I guarantee the sea view will lift your soul. (Although I can’t guarantee the weather, this is Wales after all.)
You get the impression that this is a classy sort of place from the moment you turn that heavy brass knob and open the large oak door. Quarry tiles lead you into a lovely contemporary kitchen. An attractive range cooker to your left, a lovely Belfast sink to your right all set within pastel coloured units under an expensive granite worktop. But best of all perhaps is the breakfast table sitting as it does in front of large French doors giving you the opportunity to soak in that sea view over your morning coffee.

A rustic ledge and brace door leads into the large lounge. The impressive inglenook with a real fire is flanked by two luxurious leather sofas, decorated in turn with some tasteful cushions and welsh woollen throws. The dining room next door also has it’s own fire. A cute little log burner this time. Again, everything from the antique light fittings to the choice of curtain fabric right down to the colour of the paint on the walls is perfect in every way.
A carpeted staircase separates these two rooms and the attention to detail continues upstairs. The first room to your left has a delightful modern brass double bed. The bedroom furniture is in the French distressed style. This are complimented by some lovely bedside lamps and a reproduction cast iron radiators. The deep-set casement window looks out through the leaves of a blossom tree over the fields in front of the house.
Similarly, it’s difficult to look past the balcony window in the spacious master bedroom. Grazing cows in a field of lush grass in the foreground. In the distance, the slate covered roof of the village church in a sea of green trees. The valley leading your eye towards the sea and the outstretched arm of the Llyn Peninsula beyond. Yes the king sized brass bed is lovely and the pictures are tastefully chosen etc. But who cares, have you seen that view!
Nice big en-suite to this room with a freestanding roll top bath and separate large shower. The main bathroom off the landing has an even bigger walk in shower. The double basin washstand allowing adoring couples to brush their teeth in unison.
The third bedroom has twin beds set toe to toe. The two windows next to each bed give the room a charming symmetry. The linen and soft furnishings are as elegant and refined as the rest of the house.

Location
The birth place of former British Prime Minister, Llanystumdwy is a great example of a welsh village which has succeeded in retaining it’s character and sense of identity. Helped partly by its status as an architectural conservation area and also community strongholds like the village pub and chapel.
Bryn-Du is located in a quiet corner on the outskirts of the village but there are many attractions within easy reach. The Lloyd George Museum is a must and other local attractions include fishing lakes, paint balling park and riding stables. A short journey in the car will take you to the seaside villages of Criccieth and Abersoch as well as the harbour town and sailing centre of Pwllheli. Other popular activities available nearby include golf, mountain biking, white water rafting, sailing and abundant heritage and historical sites.
Snowdon is of course an obvious draw for many guests although I would encourage keen walkers to explore the less trodden paths along the Dwyfor River, Longoed and Foel Fawr.

The Dilworths have created a charming and welcoming holiday property. The luxurious fittings and quality of decoration made a real impression, and with stunning views in the heart of lovely countryside , I am not sure if we have ever stayed in finer surroundings – what a lovely weekend!
The cottage was fantastic. It was in a beautiful setting and the children loved it. I would definitely come back again
We have just spent the last week at the Bryn Du in Criccieth and had a really great time. The cottage is gorgeous and welcoming and up to the highest standards. The daily visit from the cows in the neighbouring field was also very welcome. The location is great for exploring this beautiful part of wales within easy reach of beaches, countryside and some great walks.
We have booked again for November and are looking forward to winter walks followed by cosy dinners in the lovely dining are and lounge complete with roaring real fires.
This was our second time at the cottage. It did not disappoint. A great, well equipped cottage in a beautiful location. Perfectly placed for exploring the surrounding area and the Snowdonia National Park. We’ll definitely be back again.
What a beautiful house, from the moment you step into the very spacious hallway you can’t wait to explore the next room and so on,the grounds are lovely and the sea view takes your breath away,in fact we spent most of our break sitting in the breakfast kitchen gazing down at the sea in the distance. The weather was very wet and windy but it didn’t dampen our spirits and we got out and about and looked forward to returning and cooking supper on the fantastic aga.We would have no hesitation of recommending Bryn Du to family and friends and also look forward to return ourselves one day.
We spent 5 nights at Bryn Du with my parents and our 2 dogs for my husband’s birthday. The house is by far the most beautiful we have had the pleasure of staying in. It is fully equipped with everything you may need; and as soon as you walk through the door there is a feeling of warmth and welcome. Set amongst a gorgeous landscape, with views over the fields to the sea – it really is idyllic. We enjoyed long walks along the country lanes into Criccieth, and days out to Abersoch, Nefyn and Black Rock Sands. It really is in a great position to explore. The hamper was a lovely touch, as were the toiletries and the dogs loved their surprise treats. We will definitely be back
So as promised we returned for an autumn weekend and is was super ! Girls weekend – real fires, fine wine, lots of food and chatter, wrapped within a beautiful cottage which is so cosy and comfy but at the same time offers all the mod cons and everything you need – we didn’t want to leave – thank you from us all xx
Wonderful stay in this tastefully restored farmhouse. The property had everything we needed to make it a comfortable and relaxing break. Perfect location to get away from it all. Hope to return again. Thank you.
We have just spent a lovely few days at this absolutely gorgeous cottage. We had a mixture of rain & sun so both the fabulous patio area and the roaring log fires were put to good use!
This is a great rural location, peace and quiet, but also within a very short drive of Criccieth and the surrounding areas.
You can tell that every last bit of this cottage has been put in place with love, care and attention and the standard is extremely high – from the super-comfy beds to the walk in shower – to the little touches that make this feel like home from the minute you arrive.
We will be back!
In February we returned for our second visit to this cottage, and thoroughly enjoyed it as much as our summer visit. There is plenty to do in the area, and this cottage is a luxury home from home. WiFi is excellent, so even on those cold British days we were able to watch movies online in front of the fabulous fire.
We would not hesitate to return.
Thank you so much for such a magical holiday ! The cottage is just perfect – the interior is absolutely beautiful and the quality of the furnishing is first class. We had a wonderful Easter break at Bryn Du and cherish the time we spend there as a family. It is a real haven and a very special place – we look forward to visiting again very soon.
We had a lovely week at Bryn-Du.The weather was freezing and it was just fantastic to have such a gorgeous cottage to come back to. It’s equipped to a very high standard which makes travelling with young kids so much easier. The location is perfect and it has a view you could stare out at all day long. Thank you.
