Traditional farmhouse accommodation in Eryri (Snowdonia) | Bryn-Weirglodd

X8
Real Fire
Porthmadog

Traditional farmhouse accommodation in one of the most beautiful valleys in Eryri. Bryn-Weirglodd offers a great combination of 5 star self catering set in a faultless tranquil location. Beautifully appointed bedrooms and comfortable living areas compliment a setting where walkers can head off straight from the front door whist beach lovers only have a short 10 minute drive down to the seaside villages of Criccieth or Porthmadog.

The large living room offers the best views of the surrounding area perhaps. The ubiquitous welsh mountain sheep graze in the foreground whilst the rolling hills of the valley frame your view down to the coast. Plenty of space and seating for a family get together and a lovely log fire to warm you in the evenings.

Next door we have a traditional country kitchen diner. Lots of modern appliances including a washing machine and a large fridge freezer as well as a handsome oak dining table and chairs. Again plenty of space and seating for the whole family. Finally on the ground floor we have a large twin bedroom. Actually, I’m wrong, this room has the best view from the large patio doors that lead out onto the garden. The en-suite bathroom in here is fully accessible and suitable for wheelchair users – in fact this holiday cottage is ideal if anyone in your party has a disability or any mobility issues. Which is great news as we don’t have enough properties which are wheelchair friendly.

Upstairs we have three more bedrooms. Two double rooms and one twin room. No, these bedrooms have the best view. I think. You tell me when you get there. There’s a nice family bathroom up here with a powerful modern shower over a bath.

Location

Keen walkers may already be familiar with Cwmysdradllyn and Cwm Pennant they will bear testament to the fact that there really is no exaggeration when people describe these valleys as the most beautiful in Wales. An un-spoilt wilderness of towering peaks interweaved by crystal clear rivers and streams.

As well as the mountains of Eryri (Snowdonia) the farmhouse is also ideally suited to explore the seaside villages of the Pen Llyn (Llyn Peninsula). Criccieth, 3 miles away, is one of those hidden gems of the North Wales coastline. It has, of course, its world famous ‘Cadwaladers’ ice cream and the usual cafés and fish and chip shops but, for a small village, it boast’s some really quite nice restaurants. The ever popular market town of Pwllheli and fashionable Abersoch are a little further along the coast. The nearest town with supermarket etc is Porthmadog, some 5 miles away.

Popular activities in the area include fishing, golf and pony trekking as well as the more extreme mountain biking, white water rafting and gorge walking.

I chose here for the peace and serenity, and it certainly didn’t disappoint, The house is immaculate, clean, I could list everything, but it just ticks every box, and more. The host was so very helpful. I’d stupidly forgot to bring any sugar with me, and I text the host to ask if there was a shop close by, and she came round later that day, with sugar. If you want peace and quiet in beautiful surroundings in a luxury stay, this is the one for you.

If you’re thinking about booking it—book it! I have been to many “self catering cottages” over the years and this farm house might be my absolute favourite—we are already talking about going back! Everything was pristine clean, the bedding was wonderfully comfortable, there were all kinds of “extras” anticipating any need you might have. The house itself is spacious (more so than the photos depict) and the surrounding scenery was beautiful. If you’re looking for a serene, peaceful holiday with easy access to all that Snowdonia has to offer (and the seaside) this is the place to be!

Where to start with this Gem of a house. Warm, spacious yet cozy. Beautiful views and surroundings, there is a striking ruin near the house you can go up to take in more of the breathtaking mountain views. We were welcomed with a very well stocked welcome basket with delicious local goodies, a lovely touch. Thank you so much!

What a lovely cottage and setting; a fabulous place to relax in. The cottage was exceptionally clean and the welcome basket that Medwen had put in the kitchen was jam packed with Welsh goodies that went down very nicely. Thank you Medwen, for making us welcome.

We have just come back from a week at Bryn-Weirglodd and are very happy with the stay. It is in a good location for a holiday and the setting is spectacular. The house is brilliant. Spacious, nicely decorated, warm and very well equipped. A lovely welcome pack and card from the owners. Thank you very much! We hope to be back and can highly recommend it for a holiday!

We stayed here for Xmas and New year 2023.
When we arrived Medwen was there to greet us she had arranged a few disabled items to be dropped off for us to use during our stay. This was great and helped so much. Medwen couldn’t do enough to help and went above and beyond. This made a huge difference to our stay.
We all had a great time and will definitely be back. The cottage itself is so peaceful and surrounded by hills and sheep and lots of walks to do.

This is a great location, a comfortable cottage in a very quiet area. This is the place where you can sit down, relax and take it easy. A great welcome because the owner was preset.
Bryn-Weirglodd is in my top 5 to come back.

This is the second time we have been to this house and I had forgotten a little bit on how lovely and comfortable the inside of the house is. The house is ideally situated – very rural with lovely walks from outside the front door but close enough to Porthmadog for the shops. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and very much appreciated the thoughtful welcome pack. We definitely will go back even if the weather does not cooperates when we are there.
