Bryncaled | Ground Floor Barn Conversion | 2 Bedroom nr Pwllheli Llyn Peninsula

Ground Floor Barn Conversion
Bryncaled is a two bedroom ground floor barn conversion near Chwilog a beautiful and rural part of the Llyn peninsula. The sun was shining and the neighboring farmer was haymaking when we visited the cottage, so I think we saw it at its idyllic best.

Recently renovated this old stone cottage has been well designed and laid out. Its original stone exterior belies the up to date facilities within. A large bright kitchen-diner boasts a modern fully fitted kitchen as well as fantastic views over the surrounding fields and the mountains beyond.

The lounge is equally spacious. A comfortable 3 piece suit faces onto a renovated stone fireplace and chimney breast The original wooden beams and real wood flooring adds character and warmth to the room.

The adjoining hallway leads initially to the bathroom. Well laid out once again, with a shower over bath. Two bedrooms in total. One twin and one double. So perfect for small families but the price means it’s not unreasonable for two.

Bryncaled | Ground Floor Barn Conversion

There is one farmhouse nearby but apart from that, this ground floor barn conversion is surrounded by green fields on all sides. The area is a stronghold for the welsh language and the cottage offers a true taste of rural Wales. The village of Chwilog is just over a mile away. The village has one pub, The Madryn, a post office and small corner shop for papers etc. The popular harbor town of Pwllheli and its boating marina is 5 miles away and the very fashionable seaside town of Abersoch a little further on again.

These seaside destinations are a must for all guest naturally. (Don’t forget to try the ice cream at ‘Cydwaladers’ when you get to Criccieth.) But the real advantage of staying in this cottage is the fact that the mountains of Snowdonia are also so accessible. Snowdon itself is only a short drive away and the area now offers an abundance of activities for all.

Centres for white water rafting, mountain biking and rock climbing are fast making Snowdonia the in place for adrenaline junkies. More leisurely and cultural pastimes are also available naturally. The area is littered with historic monuments and castles. Criccieth is the nearest, with Caernarfon and Conwy castle all within an hours drive. The gardens at Bodnant are also well worth a visit for visitors to this ground floor barn conversion, as are the art galleries in Llanbedrog and Llangefni.

Send me an email if there’s something in particular that interests you and I’m sure I’ll be able to point you in the right direction.

Just stayed here with the family over the Bank Holiday weekend and it was fantastic. The cottage is great, loads of room for all of us (2 adults and 2 teenagers), great kitchen/diner and lovely comfy beds in the bedrooms. The cottage is very well kitted out with everything you would need except food & drink. The location is great, nice and quiet but close to Snowdonia and the coast. We did Snowdon on the Saturday and had a great long weekend. We will be recommending it and hopefully coming back soon. I just wished we lived a bit closer!

  2. Ruth Owen, Llangollen says:

We had a lovely stay at Bryn Caled. It was as good as it looked on the website, modern and comfortable. We also were pleasantly surprised to find we had a back garden with picnic table and washing line where we were only overlooked by the cows in the neighbouring field!

  3. Glenda Thompson June 21st says:

We spent 2 very enjoyable weeks at Bryncaled. The cottage was superb. Snowdon was a must. We went on a clear sunny day , so the views from the top were stunning. I would recommend pre booking your railway tickets. We had a 3 hour wait at the station. We passed the time by driving to Bangor to suss out the golf course.
Anyone like us who enjoys playing golf will find this a good central base. We played 7 rounds at 7 different courses.
We have already recommended Bryncaled to several friends.

  4. Michael, Hertfordshire says:

Lovely conversion in a very peaceful setting – yet with a wide range of things to do within easy reach. We enjoyed having the cows as close neighbours, and also climbing the hill behind the cottage – fantastic views of the coast and Snowdonia.

  5. Ian and Christine Mawson, Sheffield South Yorkshire says:

Bryn Caled is a little gem! The barn conversion has been carried out with attention to detail, modern, spotlessly clean, with everything you could need, yet still retains the character of the old building. The rural location is so quiet and peaceful, but is within easy reach of Pwllhei ( and the new Asda supermarket) and the beautiful surrounding beaches, Abersoch and Morfa Nefyn in particular. The owner, Arwel, called to see if everything was to our satisfaction, very friendly and helpful. I thanked him for the delicious scones baked by his wife, then pointed out that a pint of milk to make a cup of tea to go with them would have been very much appreciated after our long journey! Also, although the hangers in the wardrobes were nice wooden ones, there were no trouser hangers. I see after reading the visitors book that Arwel has implemented previous guests’ requests, I hope he does so again! We would definitely holiday here again, thank you for an enjoyable stay.

  6. Helen & Matt Turner says:

Beautifully restored, comfortable, cosy cottage. Great location for exploring the local area, with nearby Snowdon, and Black Rocks Sands a must to all those who come after. The homecooked Welsh cakes were a warm welcome, not to mention delicious!

  7. Jo & Dave, Southampton says:

Another lovely week at Bryn Caled – our second visit – and definitely not our last! We love this place and it feels like our home from home. Great location and beautiful surroundings!

  8. Pat & Tony Bailey Altrincham says:

Our week’s stay at Bryncaled went by all too quickly. My wife and I have stayed at many cottages in different areas of the UK over the years but Bryncaled is in a class of its own when it comes to peace and tranquility. The cottage is very well equipped although provision of a Wifi connection would have been most useful. When we are ready for a future week of relaxation and the attendant peace and quiet we will return to this location.

  9. John and Mary, Gloucester says:

What a superb cottage!! We have just returned from a wonderful week’s stay at this delightful barn conversion, and were so lucky with the weather too!! Can highly recommend this cottage, absolutely delightful, and we hope to return soon. Perhaps the provision of a small barbecue would have been very useful, also wifi, however cottage was still 10 out of 10.

  10. Alan Jones, Ditton Priors, Shropshire says:

Despite the inclement weather we all had a fabulous break in a delightful, well appointed cottage.
It was close to all amenities and yet remote enough for peace and tranquility.

Facilities were spot on, in fact we enjoyed it so much, we considered tacking a few extra days onto our fortnight’s holiday, but unfortunately it was booked.

It was our granddaughters 1st holiday, 1st time at the beach, 1st tooth, and 1st paddle in the sea, many other 1sts – so memorable we will have to do it again very shortly

    Cannot recommend it highly enough

  11. Rashied, Surbiton says:

In a word, WOW! This cottage encapsulates everything that is beautiful about Wales. We will definitely be returning soon.

  12. Davis family Cheshire says:

Another lovely stay at Bryn Caled. Ideal for a family holiday. The children love the outside space. It’s in an idyllic location and close enough to the beaches and mountains. The accommodation is lovely and clean and has all you would need for a relaxing stay. We had fantastic weather and hope to come again soon.

  13. Val & John Denny, Herefordshire says:

If you want quiet and secluded (doesn’t everyone) this is the one for you. A beautifully appointed recent conversion with everything you could reasonably hope for .We had a very small problem with the lighting, rang the contact number, and the owner who is local was round in under an hour to sort it.Lots of things to do and places to see within an hours drive.

Heartily recommended – one of the best cottages we have ever visited.

  14. Rita Phillips Hampshire says:

This was a truly beautiful cottage. Immaculate, warm, and had everything you could possibly need. The actual surroundings were sensational – near the sea, near very interesting places and beautiful countryside. Everything you could wish for and more……. Thank you so much.

  15. Emma, Wrexham says:

Lovely barn conversion, clean and spacious. Great countryside location and within easy reach of both the beaches and the mountains. The children enjoyed the outside space which topped off a very enjoyable stay.

  16. Bryncaled says:

Second successive year stay at Bryncaled for my wife and I (9th to the 16th May 2014).

We new that we would probably return following our stay last year, since we were able to completely relax and enjoy the peace and quiet of its location whilst knowing we were conveniently placed for visiting the many attractions to be found in this area of Wales.

No doubt we will look forward to a future stay at Bryncaled. Only one request (same as last year) would be good to have a Wi-fi connection.

  17. Helen,Shropshire says:

Lovely barn conversion, very spacious.Great outside space for children to play. Easy access to a lot of tourist attractions.Would recommend.

  18. Davis family, Bunbury, Cheshire says:

Just returned from our third visit to Bryncaled – it was a very easy decision to come back and the cottage was in as good condition as the first time. It has everything you need and is spotlessly clean.

Bryncaled is in a great location being within about ten minutes of Criccieth and Pwllheli yet in very peaceful countryside. It’s also only about half an hour to the beaches down the Llyn peninsula or the mountains.

We would love to come back soon!

  19. Mike Sessions, Gloucester says:

We really enjoyed our stay at BrynCaled, a superbly equipped cottage, in a truly beautiful part of Wales. We were out and about nearly every day,a journey to Porthmadog on the steam train from Caernarfon which we really enjoyed, the scenery was just terrific!.Another day we visited Ty Coch, the pub on the beach at Morfa Nefyn, enjoying a meal and a drink and the scenery, all in all a lovely holiday.I did feel though the track to the cottage could do with improving,it was rough and stony, halfway down the access is concreted and is much better!
