Luxury Holiday Cottage near Barmouth | Bwthyn-Goronwy
Bwthyn-Goronwy is a one bedroom barn conversion in the popular seaside village of Tal-Y-Bont. One of a row of three cottages which has been recently converted to a very high spec. Everything from the lighting and the under-floor heating right down to the colour scheme and the kitchen appliances have been considered carefully.

Oak stable doors open onto a large open plan living area. A thoroughly modern kitchen to one side and a comfortable dining and seating area to the other. Sky lights and a large picture window, with sea views, fills the space with light. This combined with the high vaulted ceiling gives this room a real sense of space and grandeur. The original wooden beams and whitewashed stone walls mean that the character of the old barn is also retained however.

The bedroom is a more romantic room naturally. Sumptuous bedding with tasteful bedside lamps and wardrobe etc creates a tranquil and relaxing space. A huge double shower and marbled walls means the adjoining bathroom is equally as luxurious. A welcome retreat after a long day, building sandcastles on the beach.

There’s a large patio area outside with a BBQ all very safe and secure for children. The cottage owners have also teamed up with a nearby caravan park so from March until November cottage guests have free access to all the parc’s leisure facilities . Facilities include a heated indoor swimming pool and and entertainment lounge. They also have a ramp for launching small boats into the bay. Don’t forget to register your boat with he harbor master at Barmouth. Plenty of parking at the cottage for cars and boats.

Location

Most people visiting Tal-Y-Bont come to be beside the sea. And the cottage does not fail to provide that most traditional of British holidays. In the summer the village is transformed into a bustling coastal community. Fresh sea air carries with it the smell off newly lit BBQ’s and the sound of children’s laughter. It never rains in Wales. Honest! So don’t forget your flip flops. Socks optional.

Tal-Y-Bont is more of a sleepy little village during the winter months. A different but equally enjoyable experience. Deserted beaches and quiet country pubs gives cottage guests a chance to relax and unwind.

If you choose, there are lot’s of activities in the area throughout the year. Everything from adrenaline fuelled pursuits like white water rafting, mountain biking and gorge walking to more relaxing pastimes such as fishing, golf and bird spotting.

Geographically, the ever popular seaside town of Barmouth is a short drive to the south. Harlech with its historic castle and award winning links golf course is to the north. And the majestic mountains that rise up to the east of the village are crisscrossed with footpaths and bridleways for you to explore.

We had a very relaxing week in this beautifully converted cottage. Despite the surrounding campsites it was very quiet and peaceful. Everything inside the cottage was spotlessly clean, the kitchen was well equipped and it was warm and comfortable. It was also very accessible for anyone with restricted mobility.

Very clean, great shower, bed was uber comfortable, and cottage was perfectly located. We walked to Barmouth and comfortably drove to Harlech, Portmadog, Caernarfon & Bangor.

We had a lovely relaxing week in the cottage and despite the windy, wet weather we managed to squeeze in lots of walks, some straight from the door.

A lovely size for two people and the bed and shower were particular highlights – we slept like logs all week!

Immaculate thoughout and lovely and cosy to return to at the end of a strenous day. We’ll definitely be back!

We only had a short break but the cottage was very comfortable, cosy and well equipped, in a beautiful location. Directions were easy to follow. Even the weather came good and we didn’t really want to leave.

We have just returned from a week stay, we were very impressed with the cottage. All rooms are immaculate including a superb shower. It was a relaxing break and when the sun shone we could enjoy sitting out on the patio looking at the sea. Although near to campsites the properties are secluded and have a feel of quality throughout.

  10. Michelle and Jamie, Essex says:

We have just returned from a week stay, the cottage is beautiful and the surrounding area is just out of this world. The shower is wonderful and makes a romantic retreat and the bed is so very comfortable, slept exceptionally well. It was a very relaxing break. The welcome pack was gratefully received.

A trip to Tonys, the Italian in the village is called for but the steak at the Inn in the village is just out of this world and melts in your mouth.

Would love to visit again, Alex and Laura are very welcoming and very helpful.

  11. Laura & Andrew, Manchester says:

Excellent location for trips to the beaches with the dogs, we all loved it and are sure to return.

  12. Bwthyn-Goronwy, Tal Y Bont says:

We had a fabulous time at Bwthyn-Goronwy. The accomodation was perfect for a couple. The shower being a particular highlight. The area is very beautiful, and apart from a trip up Mount Snowdon on our way home, we stayed pretty close by as the estuary and beach walks were magnificent.

We would love to come back again and I’m sure it won’t be too long, before Wales sees us return.

  13. bob and shirley cheltenham says:

We knew the area after years of holidays in our holiday cottage. Returned after three years absence.
Thrilled to bits with the accommodation, and cleanliness. Would love to return again in the summer. Would recommend this lovely barn conversion to anyone. Good value and privacy. My husband will remember his 65th birthday with great fondness.

  14. Vix & Paul Cheshire says:

Had a 2 night break here beginning of May 2013 fell in love with the cottage it’s like home from home, the finishing touches are amazing so immaculate with an eye for detail in regards to washing up liquid etc, the welcome hamper was a lovely touch :) it’s that immaculate it feels like you are the first people to ever stay. Are only regret was we had to come home :( will most certainly be returning very soon, with our very pampered pooch who also loved her new home for the weekend :)

  15. Annie Hetherington, Northumberland says:

We have had an amazing time, gorgeous barn! Comfy, very clean and an amazing shower! We appreciated the welcome ‘goodies’ of local produce. The area is very beautiful and the barn was well placed for exploring. Lots to see and do:-) We even had good weather!
Our one and only comment would be to have a bigger sofa in the lounge area or two small. A bit of a squash on the one!
We will definately return to stay in the future!
    THANKS! x

  17. Carol, Nottinghamshire says:

Had a lovely holiday. Bwthyn Bach Cottage is great, well equipped, comfy bed and fab shower. Love the contemporary feel and underfloor heating. The only suggestion I can offer to improve would be to replace the two seater settee with a corner unit or chaise to give a little extra seating room. The area is beautiful and the beaches wonderful, Molly and Max our dogs loved it! We would happily revisit.

  18. John Perks,Shrewsbury says:

This place was amazing! Perfect for the two of us and our little dog Superman. The kitchen was fab, i baked cakes for my family who were staying in the larger farm house up the drive (not dog friendly) and there was everything i needed. Everything was spot on from cleanliness to facilities, even the weather was good!! the beach a very short walk kept Superman happy. Already planning our next visit or maybe even a relocation to Wales from Manchester. Thank you
