I’ve added a couple of Late Availability Deals on the properties we have down by the beach. We’re famous for our mountains here in Snowdonia of course but in this little corner of the National Park we have some great long runs of sandy beaches for you to enjoy as well.
The weather’s great here at the moment so bring some sun cream and flip flops with you. Socks optional.

We try and persuade all our cottage owners to put a welcome hamper for all their guests. Tea, coffe a spot of milk, a bottle of wine and local cheases perhaps. That sort of thing. Some of our cottage owners are kind enough to include home made cakes, scones and bread in this complimentary welcome hamper. I know, free cake! What more could you ask for!
I’ve manages to prise a couple of the recopies from them to share with you here. This wasn’t as easy believe you me, there are of course village cake making competitions to consider.

1 Orange
2 Lemons
185g self-raising flour
185g caster sugar
185g soft margarine
3 eggs, beaten
125g caster sugar
90g white chocolate, melted
Orange rind shreds
Grease and line a 1kg (2lb) loaf tin. Preheat oven to 160C (325F/Gas3). Finely grated rind from orange and 1 lemon. Place in a bowl with with flour, sugar, margarine and eggs. Mix together with a wooden spoon, then beat for 1-2 minutes until light and fluffy.
Spoon mixture into prepared tin, smooth top and bake for 11/2-11/2 hours, or until cake springs back when lightly pressed in the centre. Turn out onto a wire rack, remove paper and allow to cool.
To make syrup, squeeze juice from lemons and place in a small pan with sugar. Heat gently, stirring occasionally, until sugar has dissolved, then bring to the boil and boil for 15 seconds. Return cake to tin, pour over syrup and leave until cold. Using a sharp knife, cut pith away from orange and cut out segments, dry on kitchen paper.
For the topping, pour white chocolate along top of cake and arrange orange segments overlapping down the centre. decorate with orange rind shreds. Leave until chocolate is set.

14 oz Mixed Fruit
8oz Brown Sugar
2oz Marge
½ pt water
1 lb self raising flour
1 teaspoon bi-carb
1 teaspoon mixed spice
2 freshly laid eggs
Boil Marge, Sugar, Fruit and water in sauspan.
Remove from heat, add bi-carb and mix until froth disappears
Leave to cool
Add self raising flour, spice and eggs and mix well
Bake in oven at 300F for about 1 hour approx
Oat Breadfrom Llys Bennar
2lb 10oz strong white flour
6 oz oatmeal
2 pkts. Easy blend yeast
1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon soft brown sugar
6 tablespoon of olive oil in 1 ½ pts of hot water – not boiling
Put all dry ingredients in a bowl and mix through. Pour in water and oil and mix with a spoon until dough comes together. Top bowl with a polythene bag – tied to allow for expansion. When well risen, turn onto work surface and kneed lightly. Return to bowl to rise again. Cover as before. Grease and flour two 2lb bread tins. Preaheat oven to 375 F and bake for 1 hr.

Sue and Richard the owners of [Bwthyn] and [Ysgubor] are including a family pass for Portmeirion within their usual welcome hamper during August (2011).
Portmeirion the famous Italian styled village was designed and built by architect Sir Clough Williams-Ellis. It lies two miles south of Porthmadog on the banks of the Dwyryd Estuary. The gardens as well as the architecture are fantastic and well worth a visit if your in the area.
The village has provided the backdrop to numerous films, TV shows and music videos. If you visit, you’ll be able to add your name to a long list of famous guests. Noel Coward, Gregory Peck, Ingrid Bergman, Paul McCartney, Iron Maiden and Patrick McGoohan star of cult 60′s TV series The Prisoner. Please quote number P001 when placing your booking. We’re very proud to add a new fantastic property to our website. Capel-Maentwrog is a converted 19th Century Calvinistic church. We can actually add the byline ‘as featured on tv’ to this. A welsh version of Grand Designs showed the property but it was only aired on S4C so you might have missed it if you’re on the wrong side of Offa’s Dyke.
The Chapel has been converted into a 4 bedroom luxury holiday home. Complete with marble bathrooms and polished slate floors. Considering the luxurious interior and the great location, the price, especially during off peak times, is very reasonable. Have a look at let me know what you think.
