Detached Stone Holiday Cottage Near Harlech | Cefn-Trefor

The front door leads us into a large lounge area. Slate flooring and a roaring fire in the inglenook fireplace is complemented by a large modern l shaped sofa and flat screen TV. The adjoining dining room has a big sturdy solid wood dining table flanked by two full-length benches. So there’s plenty of room for all the family to gather round at meal times.

From the dining room we continue through into the kitchen. Modern fully fitted units sit along the far wall of this bright and airy room. All the appliances you need are here including a fridge, freezer, eye level oven, dishwasher and washing machine.

We return back through the dining room to get to a second lounge or snug. Smaller then the first but a comfy leather sofa, real fire and absence of any TV make this the perfect space for anyone wanting a quiet few minutes to enjoy a good book or a glass of wine.

There are four bedrooms upstairs. 3 double rooms and one single. Two of the doubles have en-suite bathrooms. Both have a fantastic and powerful shower as well as a WC and washbasin. The remaining two rooms share a central family bathroom which has a shower over bath arrangement. All the bedrooms, like the rest of the house, are beautifully furnished and decorated.

There is a 5th bedroom with a set of bunk beds on the ground floor. But this is smaller than the others and will only really suit children. We’ve set the maximum capacity for the house as 7 adults, 2 children as a result.

The cottage also benefits from a games room that houses a pool table and darts board. The perfect man-cave to escape to when it’s time to do the dishes.

Location

Outside, the cottage benefits from lots of off road parking as well as a large and private lawn out to the front. Portmeirion on the far side of the estuary can just be spotted through the surrounding trees. A short walk down the lane offers a more panoramic view perhaps.

Talsarnau is a quiet little village on the coast road between Porthmadog and Barmouth, about 3 miles outside Harlech. The sandy beaches there are a must do for all our guests. The town is also home to the famous Harlech Castle of course as well as the renowned Royal St Davids Links Golf Course. There are a number of cafes and small shops to be enjoyed and a small but popular swimming pool and climbing wall. Porthmadog, 10 minutes to the north and Barmouth, 20 minutes to the South, offer a larger variety of shops and restaurants.

Guests are encouraged to walk the miles of beautiful mountain paths that lead directly from your back door. Whilst a short drive will lead you to the more popular routes up Cnicht or Snowdon itself. The whistle of the Ffestiniog Steam Railway can just be heard from the cottage and numerous adventure activities can be enjoyed in and around the cottage.
