Glaslyn-Lodge is a two bedroom holiday cottage near Beddgelert in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park. Tucked away on the grounds of a large formal garden on the banks of the river Glaslyn the lodge is the perfect base for walkers or outdoor enthusiasts.
The ground floor has been split into two halves. One half for the kitchen diner and one half for the living area. A large opening connects the two. On the left, a simple but well equipped kitchen includes an electric oven and microwave plus all the usual utensils and kitchen equipment. A small dining table and four chairs sits on the opposite wall.
In the adjacent living room a lovely log fire sits within a rustic oak mantelpiece on a slate hearth. A large modern TV hangs on the wall above. Two comfortable sofas flank the other two walls. This whole ground floor area is filled with a wonderful light in the morning as the sun rises over the far bank of the river.
To the rear of the lounge a doorway opens up onto a ground floor double bedroom. This is a smallish room and simply furnished but spotlessly clean with a modern oak framed bed and tasteful bedspread. We return to the kitchen to access the ground floor bathroom. This includes a WC, washbasin and large shower cubicle with electric shower.
An open tread staircase takes up to the first floor bedroom. There is restricted headroom up here so more suitable for children. Although the two single beds are full sized so no real problem for more adventurous adults. This is a long thin room so the beds are located toe two toe either side of the staircase.

Glaslyn-Lodge is located in a truly unique and wonderful setting. A large garden and lawns run down to a private riverbank. (This will naturally mean that toddlers will have to be supervised at all times.) A wooded area on the opposite bank filled with wildlife helps create a perfect quiet idyll for lazy afternoon picnics or early morning fishing sessions. The gardens are shared with the larger Glaslyn-House, another Dioni holiday cottage. But there are plenty of quieter secluded areas in the gardens for both sets of guests to enjoy in isolation if you prefer.
A lovely footpath will lead you up along the river to the village of Beddgelert about 1.5 miles away. The village has long been popular with holiday makers to the area and includes a couple of nice pubs, restaurant, craft shops and famous ice cream parlour. The village also acts as a base for tourists wanting to catch the narrow gauge steam train or climb nearby Snowdon.
The larger harbour town of Porthmadog is some 10 minutes away by car and the castle town of Caernarfon is about 30 minutes away. With mountains, castles, beaches and adventure centres also also within easy reach there shouldn’t be any problems with things to do during your stay.
