Quintessential Snowdonia cottage at the foot of Snowdon, sharing the valley with the Welsh Highland Steam Railway which pushes its way up to Rhyd Ddu station.
But I should talk about the cottage first. It’s a semi detached cottage on the outskirts of Rhyd Ddu in the heart of Snowdonia. It’s been immaculately decorated and furnished by Jane, the owner and her taste and attention to detail are evident throughout the property.
Downstairs the cosy lounge opens out onto the adjoining and spacious dining room. A log fire and tasteful fixtures and fitting ensure that this living space is comfortable and welcoming.
A traditional and well-equipped country kitchen is located to the rear of the cottage. Cream fitted units including a dishwasher and fridge are topped by a beach block worktop. A washing machine and tumble dryer are available in the utility room accessed via the small rear courtyard.
Three bedrooms upstairs. Both the large king sized bedroom and the smaller single bedroom enjoy panoramic views towards Snowdon. The third twin bedroom over looks the garden to the rear of the property. Again, all the bedding and soft furnishings are beautifully chosen and create a sense of elegant sophistication. Finally the large bathroom accommodates a pastle painted vanity unit and a large bath with shower over.

Outside a small courtyard area leads onto a larger enclosed garden area with raised decking area and storage shed. The views have to be seen to be believed. This is the Snowdonia of story books and postcards. And it’s right on your doorstep. Truly a walker’s paradise, keen ramblers need never step back into the car as miles and miles of footpaths are accessible right from your doorstep including the famous Rhyd Ddu Path leading to the summit of Snowdon. There’s also a local pub 200m down the road, so again there’s really no need to pick up those car keys during your stay. And you don’t have to be a train fanatic to appreciate the brave little steam locomotives as they fight their way up the valley opposite the cottage. Pulling their load of enthusiastic holidaymakers through some of the most beautiful and rugged scenery in the UK. All the other activities associated with North Wales are within easy reach including fishing, horse riding, mountain biking and rock climbing. Beddgelert, a picturesque and popular tourist village is 5 minutes to the south of the cottage while the larger town of Caernarfon is 15 minutes to the north.
