Romantic Self Catering Cottage in Dyffryn Ardudwy | Laundry-Cottage

Laundry-Cottage is a romantic self catering cottage in Dyffryn Ardudwy and just oozes character. A unique 14th Century stone built cottage with its original inglenook, hand carved oak beams and a spiral stone staircase. You can almost taste the history in this place. The cottage sits within the grounds of an Elizabethan Manor House, Cors Y Gedol, which was built in 1576 by Richard Vaughan. And, as the name suggest, was used as a laundry for the grand house. But don’t worry, you wont be asked to do any of the ironing during your stay.

..spiral stone staircase..
..original oak beams..

As you walk in through the front door the kitchen and dinning area is to your left and the sitting area is to your right. The kitchen is simple but well equipped. The sitting area is comfortable and the living flame gas fire set in the impressive inglenook gives the room that sort of natural focus point. Little things like the material for the hand made curtains and cushions have obviously been carefully selected and add a touch of class to the property. A whitewashed stone corridor leads off to the ground floor twin bedroom and bathroom. Mind your head! Some guests could argue that the bathroom next door is a bit small. But I guess big bathrooms weren’t a priority during the 14th Century, and I think it actually ads to the character of the cottage.

The stone spiral staircase then leads up to a large first floor bedroom. The original cruck timber frame painted black is offset by the whitewashed walls. The irregular lines and texture are a real welcome contrast to today’s straight edges and wipe down surfaces. Perhaps the cleaners wouldn’t agree. Anyway, I could go on about this cottage for ages but I’m worried I’d bore you. 14th Century, stone spiral staircase in the grounds of and Edwardian Manor House. What more do you want?!

Location

The directions to this romantic self catering cottage reads “turn right in the village through the gated entrance. Proceed up the drive for just over a mile..” I should add of course that the ‘gated entrance’ is the original stone structures erected by Richard Vaughan in 1576. The 1.5 mile drive is as straight as an arrow and leads directly to the Hall at the far end. It’s flanked by ancient woods on both sides and the wide grass verges are covered with snowdrops and daffodils in the springtime.

The cottage itself has a large private lawned area which looks out over a field and then some woodland. Beyond that you’ve got the 7 miles of sandy coastline that stretches from Harlech to the north down to Barmouth in the south. The rugged Rhinog mountains provide a back drop to the property and presents a true wilderness for keen walkers. A couple of pubs in the village both serving food. But probably a bit too far to walk after dark.

A quick internet search will show that there are lots of things to do in the area. Adrenaline educing activities as well as more relaxed pastimes. Sites of special historic interest as well as sites of special scientific interest. The world’s your lobster as my gran once said.

SnowdropsWe stayed at this charming and very comfortable cottage from 22- 26 November 2010. It reminded us of a house in a Hans Christian Anderson fairytale, the staircase and beams in the main bedroom are great! We enjoyed sitting by the large fireplace and appreciated the cake and wine that were left for us by our helpful hosts. The linen, decor and kitchenware were all of good quality. There were also good books and DVD’s on offer.

The cottage is just 2 miles from the beach, 2 miles from a shop, walking distance to the pub and located by some woodland that we also walked through. We really enjoyed our days out to Snowdon and Harlech Castle. We can highly recommend this cottage and felt very at home there.

  2. Andrea Stewart, Teddington says:

We stayed at the cottage in November, it was just picture-perfect, snow on the ground and no-one around except the friendly horse! so romantic and such a lovely hide-away for stressed out townies!
The cottage itself was fantasic for a couple and had everything that was needed, including a wonderful welcome pack which included lovely homemade mince pies!
Loved it so much, want to go back next winter.

  3. Samantha Groves, Manchester says:

We have to got back from a lovely four night stay at the Laundry cottage.
Great little cottage everything we needed and more including a lovely welcome pack left by the owners was very much appreciated. My husband sat down and ate the biscuits the first night :-)
We loved the location and we enjoyed watching the local friendly horses, who were there to greet us each morning.
We would definatly like to come back again.

  4. Jackie and John says:

What a lovely cottage. Compact and
cosy. So relaxing! Walked to the post office and back
on Saturday morning then walked to the train station and back in the afternoon. Legs
still aching but had a fantastic time!

  5. Rachael & Simon, Stoke Poges says:

SnowdropsWe had a magical Valentine’s break in this beautiful cottage located in the grounds of the old Manor. Cosy, thoughtful welcome pack left for weary travellers and ideally located. Totally relaxing. Stunning snowdrops in bloom when we were there. Loved it. Hope to return soon.

  6. Mark, Preston says:

Enjoyed the wine, found out that coop crisps are really good, snowdrops in abundance and the weather was surprisingly good. A pleasant stay, thank you.

  7. Doran, Kerry & Rio, Notts says:

We booked a short stay at the end of February.
We were looking for a quiet and cosy retreat and we certainly weren’t disappointed.
Laundry Cottage is small but perfectly formed and is oozing character.
We were fortunate with the weather but the stove was able to warm the room most adequately.
The house was perfect for a couple + dog but would be suitable for a small family i’m sure.
The driveway leading up to Cors Y Gedol is quite long, so unless you are keen to walk, most journeys out will involve the car. However, there are some lovely walks to be taken around the area.
The welcome basket with cup cakes, tea and coffee was also a nice touch.
We will hopefully return for a longer stay!

  8. Doran, Kerry & Rio, Notts says:

We had a lovely short break at the end of February. The cottage is an amazing property, so full of character and the surroundings aren’t half bad either!
We managed to sufficiently wear our dog Rio out with a couple of long walks.
With the stove burning away in the evening the cottage was cosy and very well stocked with all that is needed for a long weekend stay.
We will hope to be back again perhaps for longer next time!

  9. RTaylor Bristol says:

Laundry Cottage is a lovely, cozy cottage surrounded by woods to the front and wonderful wild hills to the back. You can walk out the front door in the morning and decide whether you want a beach walk along long sandy beaches that stretch all the way to Harlech or whether you want to see birds of prey, lambs, rugged hills and waterfalls…the location is idyllic.
The cottage is very well kept and very clean. There is a gas burner (that looks like a coal fire so warm and cozy without any hassle) and a super upstairs double bedroom. It is quite small downstairs (especially the bathroom, and possibly not suitable for very young children or people with mobility issues) but delightful and even better, when it’s sunny, you can sit outside with your morning coffee and look out over fields and woods listening to the birds….fabulous.
When we arrived there was a lovely welcome – a friendly postcard welcoming us there and lots of treats laid out for us including Bara Brith, milk, tea etc. – everything a tired traveller needs. If you tired and stressed and want to be somewhere quiet but not remote, this is your oasis. I really recommend this idyllic place.

  10. Neil & Kerry (plus 2 dogs) - Herefordshire says:

We had pretty mixed weather for our week but still really enjoyed our stay. The cottage was very clean, cosy and comfortable. It is in a great location for enjoying both the hills and the coast. Whenever the weather was poor up at the cottage the beach and dunes just a mile or so away always seemed to be dry and bright so we made the most of long walks there. Got up into the Rhinogs on a couple of occassions which despite their relatively low height compared to some other parts of Snowdonia still offer dramatic views and are a great workout for both humans and the dogs. Especially if you do a circuit of Rhinog Fawr and Rhinog Fach from Maes-y-garnedd Farm in Cwm Nantcol (Parking at the farm is £2 but well worth it to avoid a very long walk in on the road.)
I would definitely recommend this cottage for anyone interested in a bit of peace and quiet with empty hills and huge beaches on your doorstep. Yet it still has very easy access to all necessary amenities such as supermarkets, petrol stations etc all within 5 miles or so.

  11. Carol, Sara and Harris the dog says:

We had a really lovely, relaxing holiday. Laundry cottage is the perfect gettaway and the walks around the cottage were fantastic. We were so lucky with the weather and made the most of going to the beaches. Every time Harris see’s the car he thinks he’s back off to Laundry cottage……….how great to be able to take him with us. We’ll be back :)

  12. Lorraine, Ivor + Megan + Gran, Ayrshire says:

It would be unfair, if I didn’t take the time to give feedback, on what was a wonderful holiday, at Laundry Cottage, especially after the owners took the time to add all the extra special touches which made us feel so welcome. We stayed for 2 weeks (1st July-15th July), with only 2 days rain in all that time, which was an unexpected bonus. The cottage was a delight, it reminded us of the ‘Milly Molly Mandy” stories, especially when carrying on a conversation from the upstairs window, with someone in the garden. Everything had been chosen to give maximum comfort for its guests, and the house seemed to welcome us. Our daughter, who is 13years, originally thought she couldn’t survive for 2 weeks without internet access, but eventually she discovered that there were other things she could do, just as much fun, such as, exploring the variety of walks through the woods and fields, playing bat and ball, going on train rides, up and down the coast, and the visit to CAT was a revelation, where she really took an interest in the work being done there. We were wishing we had brought our SKY card with us, as we could have taken advantage of our subscription, but it was no big deal, as we didn’t go on holiday to watch TV! My husband loved being able to set off from the cottage to explore all the hills behind us, I loved being able to swim in the lovely beaches, every day, apart from one day (a rainy/windy day), and my Mum just enjoyed having a lovely holiday, seeing different things, and finding, that she could still accomplish some of the hillwalks in the area (not bad for an octogenarian). We came home refreshed, rested, and inspired to return again. Thank you so much.

  13. Sue, Pete, Leo (aged 7) and Ann (Grandma) says:

Weve just returned from a weeks holiday (26th Aug – 1st Sept 2011) at Laundry Cottage and enjoyed every minute. The cottage is cosy and full of medieval charm but has everything you need and is very clean. It was lovely to arrive to cake, wine and tea provided by the owners – thank you – a very welcome surprise and thanks also for arranging the put up bed. As others have said the cottage is small but was fine for us including our ‘very busy’ son. We did lots of walks through the surrounding ancient woodland and particularly enjoyed the walk down to the local pub in Talybont which also serves excellent food and has a good play area (thanks to the owners again for the recommendation in the welcome book). We enjoyed the fact that the cottage is very near to lots of interesting and fun places – Harlech, Porthmadog, Barmouth, Shell Island, farm park, slate mines, Fairbourne (get the ferry from Barmouth) and those fantastic beaches only 5 mins away. The best thing for us though was that we could be out all day but then return to seclusion at the cottage and play on the lawn, listen to the birds and star gaze at night due to the total blackness. This cottage is perfect for anyone who wants to relax and get away from it all but also for anyone who wants to take in the amazing sights and scenery that West Wales has to offer. We will definitely be returning to Laundry cottage and this part of Wales and highly recommend this cottage.

Ps To get a mobile phone signal – just walk up to the top of the road!

  14. Lynn McKeon, Staffordshire says:

We had a lovely relaxing stay at Laundry cottage, very quiet and secluded although we were visited by a Badger during the night on four occasions, (there were obviously lots of jucy worms in the lawn to root for) Great walks around the cottage which we all enjoyed along with the dog. Would certainly recommend this cottage for its cosy feel, and unique character. We would have liked to know a little of the cottage’s history and that of the Hall.

  15. Deborah Atkin, Essex says:

We really enjoyed our stay at Laundry Cottage, plenty of room for four adults and our German Shepherd Max! Very cosy and the character features are just amazing especially the stairs and the passageway to the second bedroom/bathroom.
The cottage was very well equipped; especially the kitchen although I think the cooker could do with an update especially the grill. The real flame gas fire was an absolute joy. Everywhere was very clean.
The area is great; the cottage could not be better located for both sea and mountains; the beaches are some of the best I have seen!
Brilliant local pubs & restaurants and the local Spar shop has an amazing butchers; everyone is very friendly and welcoming.
We will defiantly recommend to friends and come again ourselves.
I will send a photo on tomorrow of Max enjoying the lovely garden!

  16. Maxine Hancox, West Midlands says:

We booked this cottage because it reminded us of the one in the film Holiday !!!
Absolutely lovely cottage well equipped and so quaint. Our 14 month old staffie loved the garden and the walks down to the beach. Great location, peaceful and scenic. must recommend Tonys Italian restaurant. Also the ice cream parlour by Barmouth harbour. Would definitely recommend a stay here and will definitely be returning in the future.
Many thanks for a fantastic break even the Welsh weather was kind to us. :)

  17. John and Valerie Warren, Nottingham says:

Sea Scape Dyffryn ArdudwyThank you very much, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay for the last 5 days of November 2011. We cannot fault it everything was immaculate, we were very comfortable and cosey being able to relax fully. It was an excellent location away from everything. We would love to come again and thoroughly enjoyed being so close to the Tudor Mansion which is of special interest to us.

  18. Dave & Judy Rowland says:

What a magical place to spend my 60th birthday. The cottage is homely and the first major storm of the winter did not even create a draft in this sturdy cottage, loved the ‘cave’ to the toilet ! A perfect location for a quiet get away from it all holiday, but within easy reach of all ameneties if required. The welcome pack was an added bonus and well appreciated, walks of all kinds right on the doorstep. a cottage I would recommend to everyone I know.

  19. Stephen Park, Stockport says:

We came just before Christmas and had a lovely time. The cottage is warm, very cosy and has that unique character you can only find in a cottage at Christmas! Our two little boys really enjoyed themselves too. The cottage is set in a lovely area in complete silence away from the Christmas hustle and bustle. We all enjoyed a lovely walk on Barmouth beach followed by cosy food and drink with a movie by the fire! Thank you!

  20. Miss D.Gill, Staffordshire says:

If you are looking to escape the chaos of the modern world Laundry Cottage is for you. Set in a lovely peaceful location it is a step back in time- yet has all the “mod-cons” that you would require. Secluded enough to be quiet and calm but still near to Barmouth and other surrounding attractions so there is plenty to do. Beautifully restored and decorated we cannot wait to return!! The welcome tray on arrival was a real treat too. Would definitely recommend!!

  21. Pauline and Paul wirral says:

We had a really relaxing four day break at Laundry cottage it was heaven . Set in a lovely location but still close to all the lovely beaches in the area. Our two old girls enjoyed it too the walks by the cottage where just enough for them. The weather was very kind to us able to sit on the bench in front of the cottage very unexpected in Feduary. Thank you so much for the welcome pack really nice. Hope to be back soon.

  22. Phillipa, Alison, Jessie and Chip, Stoke on Trent says:

We cannot fault Laundry Cottage, its absolutely beautiful and in the most stunning location. We stayed for a 4 day break from 24th March 2012 and the weather was glorious. Sat outside in the garden for breakfast and again after returning from being out and about for a glass of wine in the late afternoon sunshine. The welcome tray on arrival was greatly appreciated, thank you. Lots of great walks for the dogs either through the woodland or down to the beach. Every room is spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Loved the wonky doorway through the bathroom. The only downside was the time went way too quickly! Would definitely recommend and hope to be back soon.

  23. Lauren, Bobby and Baz, Timsbury (Nr Bath) says:

We had just got married and what we needed was a relaxing break away from everyday stresses of life and work….Laundry Cottage was perfect!!! Beautiful location, quiet and peaceful. Baz, our Sprocker, loved his long walks up in the mountains, down in the sand dunes, or in the gorgeous woodland…takes alot to wear out our Spaniel!!! The arrival goodies were much appreciated. Would highly receommend.

    Thanks.

  24. Sue Hill Cornwall says:

A wonderful quiet, relaxing…away from it all, break at Laundry Cottage. What bliss to be woken in the morning by a myriad of birdsong…and not the telephone!
Brinnan,my long-haired dachshund thought he was in canine heaven! and just loved the walks and woods…not to mention the swims from the nearby beach.
The cottage was delightful and even though I am disabled,I could cope well with the wee bathroom & the downstairs bedroom.
For first-time visitors it may help to know that dogs are NOTbanned from all the beaches…only from the right hand side! – left of a beach flag throughout Wales = dogs allowed!.
However, Portmeirion does not allow dogs to visit but they are more than welcome on the Ffestiniog Railway!
Excellent break and both my colleague and I will be recommending Laundry Cottage to our friends etc.
Sincere thanks for a lovely ‘Welcome basket’ and a well equipped, spotlessly clean and comfortable cottage.
    Sue,Brinnan and Gill.

  25. Elton, Chris and dogs says:

Pont Scethin, Dyffryn ArdudwyWe can’t argue with any of the comments above. A sympathetically modernised cottage where all the craftspeople involved have done an amazing job of successfully incorporated the modern facilities.

Despite mixed weather we had a wonderful time and a week full of things we enjoyed doing. On the dry days we walked the mountain paths and when it was raining did the woods and beaches. Well worth taking a local map as there are countless bridle ways and tracks to follow. Being rural there was no mobile phone or 3G coverage, wish we had spent a little more time researching the local attractions prior to going to Laundry Cottage. However we still had fun trying to find things out the old fashioned way without modern technology.

To all the people over 6 ft you will have to duck a bit further than usual, to all the people under 6 ft, now you will know what it feels like!

Would we stay again? Yes definitely and hopefully soon.

    Thanks for a lovely time.

  26. Lewis Family, Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire says:

We absolutely loved our stay at Laundry Cottage, in many respects it is like taking a step back in time but obviously with all the mod cons! Such a beautiful setting with many interesting walks from the door so taking our labrador with us was a good idea.

We definately needed to have a car especially to get to the beach and local amenities. Talking of our car, we had a problem with a CV joint on one of the wheels. The local garage (Smithys) were excellent so would recommend if you are unfortunate enough to need assistance.

Took the train from Dyffryn Ardudwy to Mynffordd Station to visit Portmerion which was very easy and a lovely ride. Would recommend Portmerion for a day out, good value for money and lovely people, gave us a lift back to the station as the end of the day.

Above all we loved the beaches the girls enjoyed hours of sandcastle building, paddling, flying kites, playing in the sand dunes, getting rained on and beach combing.

Would love to come back and visit again one day.

Pip, Si, Charlotte, Georgie and Cleo

  27. Maxine Hancox, Cheslyn Hay, West Mids says:

Just had our second visit to Laundry cottage
Im falling in love with this place its so beautifull and tranquil, and our dog Bronson loves to run around in the enclosed garden.
The little updates of built in wardrobes in the bedrooms and shelving in the bathroom are great.
Definatley will be paying another visit soon I hope :)

  28. Mandy, Wirral says:

Absolutely gorgeous, the perfect getaway. Thank you for the lovely welcome goodies. The cottage is so cosy and clean, the surroundings are just beautiful. It took my husband a while to get used to the low parts if the ceiling! He came home with a couple of extra lumps n bumps. Took a lovely walk to the beach, found some gorgeous rivers for the kids to throw pebbles in. I will definitely recommend laundry cottage to friends and family.
Mandy, Kev, Hazel & Leon x.

  29. Bonnie Nicklin, Milford Haven says:

We had a fantastic time. The cottage was clean and well equipped. We were very blessed by the goodies left for us. With three small children, 4yrs, 2 1/2 and 10 months, I had thought it would be a challenge but they absoloutly loved the cottage, it was a real adventure for them. The surrounding countryside was beautiful, and we had a lovely time visiting the local sights. The whole experience was wonderful, thank you!!

  30. Lesley, Cheshire says:

Just got back from a long weekend at Laundry Cottage. It was exactly as described when we booked, very quaint and was very well equipped although we could have done with a sieve would have been handy for draining rice and pasta but it was no hardship and we managed well enough, and this is only our preference. The welcome goodies were a nice touch, so thank you for those. It was very clean, a little smaller living area than we had thought but it was extremely cosy and on two nights the wind was howling outside and we had a heavy thunderstorm on another night but this only added to making you feel extra cosy inside the cottage. The beach, approx 2 miles away was brilliant. It was long and sandy with sand dunes as its backdrop. Our dog Ruby loved it, I think she is pining for

  31. Tom & Jenny, Cardiff says:

We had nice relaxing holiday in the cosy Laundry Cottage. We really enjoyed its’ remote location and the lack of mobile phone signal.
The cottage was well equipped and it was a nice touch to have some supplies waiting for us when we arrived.
Our dog Ruby enjoyed running around in the garden.
The village shop down the road was very useful for stocking up and has an excellent butchers.
The cottage location gives you easy access to the mountains of Snowdonia, the seaside and the forests. So we had plenty choice of things to do.

  32. dave rowland ychdyn says:

Another unforgettable holiday in this unique cottage, this time for my wife’s birthday, We stayed for my birthday 2 years ago .It is the first time in over 30 years we have returned to the same cottage as it is such a wonderful and pleasant location. Many thanks for another memorable holiday.

  33. Bob @ Janet Jones Lancashire. says:

Lovely cosy cottage well equipped and comfortable.Good location with plenty of walks and lovely beaches.Would be happy to recommend cottage ,we had most enjoyable and relaxing holiday ,our bearded collie cross Max enjoyed the lovely secure garden and the walks in the woods right on the doorstep. We had to contact owner as the lights fused ,they put things right immediatey very helpful

  34. Olwen and Tom Guildford, Leicester says:

Laundry Cottage is one of the loveliest cottages we have stayed in so far and we have stayed in very many!! We loved the peaceful location, the beautiful walks, the smell of wild garlic, the comfy bed and everything about the place. We were very lucky to have picked a week of fine weather and took full advantage by spending time on the beach. We also travelled on the Cambrian line train which we found to be great value and very comfortable. We were surprised how much the area has to offer and plan to return very soon. Our two dogs Megan and Ferdinand didn’t want to leave and neither did we! I hesitate to recommend Laundry Cottage as I would like to keep it all to myself but I know that wouldn’t be fair. It’s fab!!

  35. Deb Seaton and family says:

Well it has to be said that it was a privilege to have been able to stay at your ancient little cottage. For some reason I was drawn to it having scoured hundreds of cottages on so many sites and the very clever video with the lovely welsh man clinched it!!
It was like going back in time, the location perfect but we didn’t have time to wander past the Hall where we were told by “Tony” from the Van that there are beautiful walks up there. Perhaps a few ideas for the local walks would be useful left in the cottage. It didn’t help that we had forgot our maps of the area.
The cottage was spotless and the gifts of wine and chocolates after a tiring journey was just the ticket.
My two teenage daughters could not believe their luck that the internet had only just been installed so needless to say they were very happy.
Having found just four days when we could all spend together (not easy to achieve) I could not believe that the four nights which we wanted were free of course the rest of the time appears to be fully booked
You have a wonderful property and must be very proud to share it with others who appreciate it.
Thank you very much I would highly recommend to all my friends

  36. IAN DREW SUFFOLK says:

Stayed at the cottage in June the cottage is fantasic for a couple and had everything that you need wonderful welcome pack from the owners thank you for that, books and dvd’s on offer very clean and
    cosy.

Cottage is about 1 mile from a lovely beach shops and a good pub the Vicoria for good food, we highly recommend this cottage loved it so much and the location, a very pleasant stay thank you to the owners and Dioni all the best from Jill and Ian.

  37. Thomas Riedl, London says:

We had a lovely stay – very charming cottage, great location, super quiet, picturesque setting

One word of warning – dining options are extremely poor for the most part, so either do your research in advance to find the few hidden gems or stock up on groceries at the Tesco in Telford when driving up if you’re coming from the South

  38. Saadia Ali, Leicester says:

We recently came back (actually last Friday) and kids are already begging us to go back. It is a fantastic cottage, full of character, lots of privacy but not secluded. We are a family of four and the cottage was big enough for us. My 6 yr old son and 3 yr old daughter loved the walks around the cottage and even made friends with the local sheep.
There was a welcome basket for us with loads of goodies and wine (even though we are muslims, we appreciated the thoughtful gesture).I was in heaven as there are books in every room, toys for kids and DVD’s. Bennar beach is just down the road and the village has a petrol pump and super market. For everything else Barmouth is just 15 minutes away and Harlech around 20 minutes.
We even got to meet one of the owners who popped around to mow the lawn and gave us information about walks etc, while my son was shown around by his son and was told lots of stories.
All in all we loved it !!!! Thank you to Mr & Mrs Bailey and of course Dioni. :)
    Best Regards,
Ali & Saadia, Usayd & Amal.

  39. Gemma McCormick, Cheshire says:

We have just returned from a 2 night stay at the cottage – short but very very sweet!. The cottage itself is beautiful and has everything you could possibly need, we were even welcomed with wine and nibbles (and the nicest hot chocolate I’ve ever tasted!) – a really thoughtful touch. We all had a brilliant time. We wrapped up warm and braved the stunning local beaches with our dog, visited Harlech castle, wandered around Barmouth and relaxed around the cottage at night in front of a roaring fire. I genuinely can’t think of anything that would have made the stay better, we even indulged in a little game of Guess Who which was kindly left in our daughters room :)

Thank you so much Helen for a great little holiday!

  40. Dave Adams, Liverpool says:

We recently stayed in the cottage for a 2 night break from the kids (3yr old and 2x 8mnth twins) and it was perfect. Small, but perfectly formed with everything you could possibly need for a very restful and quiet time.
You know its going to be special when you drive up the 1.5 mile tree lined access road and let yourself in through the small wooden front door to be greeted with wine and snacks. A great start to a great break away. We will definately be coming back.

Thank you it was perfect… just what we needed

  41. Barbara Wilde, Coventry says:

Truly magical old cottage within a fairytale setting. With no leaves yet on the trees, the walk down the drive gave way to stunning glimpses of the coast beyond. Step outside at night and prepare for a breathtaking starlit sky. Visit the castle at Harlech and climb the hills behind Barmouth town. All unforgettable. When the evening sun shines, drive to the local beach and watch the sunset. Dreams are made of this. Too poetical?…………That’s how this place gets you!

  42. Monika says:

It is a truely magical cottage …very beautiful and peaceful though a bit small but enough for a small family. The walk around and down the drive is full of great views and scenic beauty. My Kids loved it a lot and had wonderful time . When the sun shine there is beautiful local beach and Harlech Castle around ( 15-20 minutes drive). We stayed with 2 Kids- 8 yrs & 4 yrs for 3 nights . They loved it so much that they did not want to come back. The owner has left generous treats for us and a bottle of wine. Everything is provided in the cottage for cooking . You just Need to get the ingredients . Very lovely, very peaceful very rural . we would love to come back again…..

we have just returned from a weeks break is this beautiful spotlessly clean perfect cottage ! what a treat !! the cottage is perfectly formed with lovely views, i just wanted to stay forever. Our dog has been miserable since we returned home due to the beautiful surroundings of the garden and fields surrounding the property and the woods and beach on the doorstep. A big thank you to Dioni for their excellent service and not forgetting the owners of the property for the swift response to a very small problem with our tap and not forgetting our welcome basket, such a treat. We have stayed in many properties over the years all over the country with our four legged friend and i can honestly speak for all my little family this was the best ever !!!!! We can’t wait to return !

We have just come back from a two night stay at this gorgeous little cottage. 5 star accommodation, in a wonderful setting.
Great surprise of a wonderful welcome pack, which included chocolates and wine!
Can certainly recommend Laundry Cottage, and only wish we could have spent longer so we could have explored the nearby footpaths with my two staffies……….but at least we managed to climb Snowdon!
    Highly recommended
