2 | LAKES
For swimming in, walking around or having a picnic by, the lakes in Snowdonia are simply stunning with back drops of mountains and beautiful views. Nothing beats a bit of wild swimming or waterfall jumping which is all on the doorstep.
3 | BEACHES
The Cambrian coastline has many award winning beaches. Long sandy stretches to chill out on, great waves for surfing, sand dunes for running down and the perfect place for a BBQ in the afternoon / evening. There are lots of hidden coves for exploring too.
4 | MOUNTAINS
We have the tallest mountain in the UK on our doorstep; Snowdon. The Snowdonia Mountain range is stunning; with 14 peaks above 3000ft, it is quite a sight to behold. The walking, climbing and cycling opportunities here are endless.
5 | ADVENTURE ACTIVITY
The introduction of activities like Zip World and Surf Snowdonia have only added to what is one of the best adventure playgrounds in the world. We have the best White Water Rafting Rapids in the UK as well as being the UK’s mountain biking mecca.
6 | INTERESTING PLACES TO VISIT
Portmeirion Village is magical, you can pan for gold at Sygun Copper Mine, the slate quarries and Museum are fascinating and Electric Mountain is one of a kind. Go skiing in Llandudno or take the chair lift up the Great Orme. The Zoo’s and adventure parks are great days out.
7 | HERITAGE AND CULTURE
With over 600 castles in Wales, we have some of the best here in Snowdonia including Caernarfon, Conwy, Beaumaris and Penrhyn. The oldest ever recorded prose, The Mabinogion started life here in Gwynedd and Merlin has been said to have walked these parts.
8 | RESTAURANTS & CAFES
Award winning restaurants covering fine dining, seafood and bistro style menu’s. Home made is the word of the day using freshly sourced, local ingredients. Cafes are bursting with wonderful cakes and atmospheres and one beach bar made it into the top 10 in the world….
9 | TRAINS
We have an extraordinary network of steam trains that go up and down the mountains; you can even get to the top of Snowdon by train. The Cambrian Coast Railway has been voted as one of the top 10 most epic train journeys in the world.
10 | BEAUTIFUL ACCOMMODATION
The accommodation is out of this world. Here at Dioni, we have cottages for 2-24 people in all manner of buildings. From converted dairy barns and traditional stone build houses to Manor houses and lovely little cottages in the middle of nowhere.
