Gwledd Conwy Feast 2018
The Conwy Feast is a food festival set in the iconic town of Conwy. Set to be the tastiest festival in Wales, it’s a weekend jam packed with cookery demonstrations, wine tasting, street food, food halls, arts and crafts. Something for all the family and it’s all taking place on the quayside, at the foot of the formidable Conwy Castle.
Conwy is a medieval walled town with the impressive Conwy Castle being at the heart, built by Edward I in 1283. Home to the smallest house in Great Britain and the best preserved Elizabethan house in the UK, you can feel the history as you walk around the cobbled streets. You’ll find cosy pubs and fantastic restaurants alongside some great independent shops; including of course Drew Pritchard’s shop.
The 26th-28th October however, sees the quayside transformed into a festival of food. Including live music from local bands and food from local suppliers, it is a weekend to tantalise the taste buds. Street food inspired from local produce and around the world will be on offer all weekend at The Conwy Feast and as we celebrate the Year of the Sea, a focus on seafood is in the line up.
The Food hall is packed with local produce from around Wales and as always, a number of new food brands will be showcasing their wares – as the festival enters its 15th year, it has become quite an important launching ground for these new and emerging brands.
Music wise, the festival starts the weekend with Rock Out Friday from 7pm. Party Saturday brings us a non stop musical treat from lunchtime until late and, Super Sunday is jazz inspired. An acoustic stage will be located in the beer tent!
Arts and crafts will be on offer from local artisans and the chance for younger ones to get involved and create their masterpieces. Jewellery, textiles and paintings from makers from across North Wales will be on offer. The ‘Cragan’, a mythical sea creature from the Welsh coastal waters will be making an appearance on Conwy Quay at 7pm – make sure you don’t miss this as he comes with an important message for us all this year….
A few additions to look out for also include: The Conwy Feast Trail, a tribute to the 100 year celebration of the Suffragettes and the Incredible Edible Map.
