Pwllheli, is the main market town and unofficial capital of the llyn Peninsula. The town is full of character with its narrow streets which have many independent shops, traditional pubs, cafes and restaurants. Its award winning marina is host to a number of sailing events.


ACTIVITIES

SNOWDONIA ADVENTURE ACTIVITIES
Offer gorge walking, canyoning, kayaking, climbing, mountain biking and going underground.
SAILING
Pwllheli Sailing Club holds the status of a Volvo Champion Club, so if you want to enjoy a bit of sailing while you are in the area, we would recommend you visit here.
GOLF
The Pwllheli Golf Course was founded in 1900 and is a unique course offering both tree lined parkland and a links golfing experience. The golf club has fabulous views including those of the Cambrian Coast, Snowdonia Mountains and the Llyn Peninsula.
WAKEBOARDING
Glasfryn Parc is 5 miles from Pwllheli and a must if you’re looking for a little adrenaline infused activity. Wakeboarding, karting and quad biking are all on offer as well as bowling, fishing and archery for those who are looking for something a little less intense.
SEGWAY TOURS
Not the most obvious of activities, but this is segway as you have never seen before; off road no less! You can also have a more leisurely cruise around the 30 acres of beautiful forest. Based at The Dragon Raiders Adventure Park, they offer paintballing on site too.
SURVIVAL DAYS
Bear Grylls has his survival academy on the Llyn Peninsula offering you a chance to learn survival techniques out in the wilderness; it’s an amazing opportunity for you to learn life skills that you never know when you just might need.
JET SKI SAFARI

HORSE RIDING
Pen Llyn Lusitano Stud and Riding centre offers classic lessons alongside treks and hacks. They cater for taylor made riding holidays and are recognised as the UK’s leading breeder of Lusitano ponies.


BEACHES

PWLLHELI
The beaches here are mainly south facing and have been awarded the prestigious European Blue Flag Award. Glan y Mor beach near the marina is sandy and sheltered. South beach is mainly shingle and pebble, stretching the length of the promenade with a play area and skate park nearby.
CRICCIETH
Has two excellent Blue Flag beaches. Marine Beach, to the west of the castle is pebbly and has views straight out to sea and is safe for bathing. Head west towards Pwllheli and you can walk for miles either along the beach or along the path above. The main beach to the east of the castle is a mixture of pebbles and sand. Walk East, there are rock pools and a small green if you want to have a picnic by the sea without the sand!
LLANBEDROG
There are 3 beaches in total in Llanbedrog, including one of the calmest beaches in Wales. There are beach huts to rent from seasonal, weekly to fail and a cafe / bistro and an ice cream shop a short walk away.


DAYS OUT

There are 600 castles in Wales, the closest being CRICCIETH The other close ones include, HARLECH, CAERNARFON, BEAUMARIS on Anglesey, PENRHYN CASTLE in Bangor and DOLWYDDELAN in Betws-y-Coed.

ZIP WORLD has offers 10 incredible activities in North Wales…

  • Blaenau Ffestiniog is where you will find Bounce Below (an underground trampoline experience), Zip World Caverns (an incredible, underground exploring activity) and Titan (first 4 people zip line).

  • Bangor is where you will find Velocity (the fastest zipline in the world and the longest in Europe).

SURF SNOWDONIA is an artificial surf lagoon where they create continuous and perfect waves. Perfect for beginners and those who are looking to improve. No waiting around for the next set of waves. At the centre, there is also a total wipeout waterwall, the ‘blob’ which will see you flying in the air, a soft play centre, a skate ramp and a couple of onsite restaurants/cafes

THE NATIONAL WHITE WATER CENTRE on the river Tryweryn in Bala offers one of the best places in the country to white water raft. The water levels are dam-controlled meaning its rapids still thunder down the river during the summer months so you will never be disappointed by the conditions.

WALKS

The walks in the surrounding area are both incredible and numerous and whilst in the area, you absolutely should take advantage of this. For some ideas of where to walk, you might be interested in these websites:

Mud and Routes is a great information resource for walking in the area. Simply enter where you would like to walk and it will give you some tried and tested routes.

Geocaching is popular in this neck of the woods and if you love a treasure hunt, then this is a great way to while away an afternoon.

MOUNTAIN BIKING

COED-Y-BRENIN
Based just north of Dolgellau, this forest (Coed) offers mountain biking heaven. Ranging from routes for beginners to the more advanced it is fantastic. Free to get in, you can either rent a bike there or take your own. If not all the party are up for cycling, there are also wonderful walks. Take a picnic as there are lots of picnic tables or there is also a cafe that serves food.
ANTUR STINIOG
There are 4 trails for both novice and advanced riders. Its costs £27.50 for the day. You will need to pre-book a space and you can hire bikes there. Again there is a cafe and other activities on offer.
BIKE HIRE
GLYN Y COED HOTEL in Criccieth, Beics Menai in Caernarfon or LLYN CYCLE HIRE in Aberdaron are the nearest places to hire bikes.
