Things To Do In Snowdonia During Half Term
If you are here during half term, there are no end of things to do for kids entertainment. To help you make the most of your time, here is our list of things to do in Snowdonia during half term…
1: SNOWBOARDING / SKIING
The Llandudno Ski Centre is great value for money and a really great afternoon out. Choose from skiing, snowboarding, tobogganing or sno-tubing and they have an onsite restaurant in the style of an alpine cabin just to add to ambience!
2: CLIMB A MOUNTAIN
We obviously have Snowdon in the mix, but you might want to consider something a little less full on with children in tow. Moelfre nr Barmouth, Moel Shabod in Capel Curig or Moel Eilio nr Snowdon are all good to venture up.
4: LEARN SURVIVAL SKILLS
From day courses to over night adventures, the Bear Grylls Survival Acadamy is every boys dream. From teaching you to forage for food, light a fire or build a shelter, its all covered and your young ones will be buzzing with self confidence after an experience here.
5: ROCK POOLING
Simple fun that will keep you and your young ones entertained for hours. Once the tide is out, grab your nets and buckets and go forth and seek in the rocks. Maybe have a look on the internet beforehand to get a list of things they can look for.
6: BOUNCE BELOW
Bounce Below is a trampoline experience like no other. Suspended from the inside of a cave, there are 3 levels of trampolines with tunnels connecting them. Once you have your red boiler suit on, take a train down into the cave and enjoy running and jumping around the different levels – this will certainly burn some excess energy off.
7: MOUNTAIN BIKING
Coed Y Brenin is a great mountain biking centre based just outside Dolgellau. Free to get in, take your bikes and choose from the 5 trails on offer; from beginner to black runs. There are picnic benches for you enjoy a packed lunch or a cafe on site if you’re in the mood for a treat. There is a play area for yourger children too.
8: SOFT PLAY CENTRES
It’s a great time of year for kayaking in the estuary’s and on the lakes. There are a number of companies around the area that offer this including: Bala Adventure and Watersports and Snowdonia Adventure Activities a bit further south towards Barmouth.
With so many in door climbing centres around the country, there are lots of youngsters with the basic skills in place. How about taking them out and trying a real rock face; it’s a totally different experience and they will love it. It’s a great activity even for those who have never tried before. Gaia Adventures are great for climbing. If it is raining however, there are two very good in-door walls locally: Ardudwy Leisure Centre and The Beacon at Caernarfon.
