Celebrate the Year Of The Dog With Our Paw Friendly Cottages

Celebrate the Year Of The Dog With Our Paw Friendly Cottages

Posted by on Mar 21, 2018 in Blog | 1 comment

February 2018 saw the Chinese calendar roll into a brand-new year – it was goodbye to the year of the rooster and hello to the year of the dog. In traditional Chinese culture, each lunar year is associated with one of twelve animal signs – the rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog and pig – animals that are traditionally Chinese domestic pets or associated with good luck. Despite making our home in beautiful Wales, we have yet to get a request for a dragon-friendly cottage. A little surprising perhaps, though maybe Welsh dragons like to go elsewhere for their jollies. Furrier friends, however, are a different matter entirely. Almost half of all our holiday cottage bookings are made by Dioni guests looking for a pet-friendly place to stay. And we very much welcome them! Whilst pet-friendly occasionally means a place to park a guinea pig or rabbit cage for a week or two, more often than not our guests are looking for somewhere that will welcome their pooch as a much-valued member of the holiday tribe. Being dog-lovers ourselves, we know how important it is to be able to include your dog on your hols in a cottage that will suit their needs (like an enclosed garden, great walks, nice fire to lie in front of at the end of a long day’s walk). To get tails wagging at the start of this new year of the dog we’ve rounded up our top five favourite dog-friendly getaways in North Wales. We hope you and yours enjoy!   VIEWS OVER SNOWDON AND THE WELSH HIGHLAND RAILWAY | BRON-EIFION £500 – £990 SLEEPS 5 + COT | WIFI | NEAR PUB | PET-FRIENDLY | REAL FIRE This is a stunning location for anyone who loves mountains and steam trains – the Snowdonia of picture books and postcards. Bron Eifion is a traditional Snowdonia cottage with views over Snowdon and the Welsh Highland Railway. Every window frames a stunning landscape. Spacious living space with toasty log fire. Enclosed garden. A walker’s paradise with miles of hikes and trails right on the doorstep.   HOLIDAY ACCOMMODATION FOR THE...

Things To Do In Anglesey

Anglesey is the largest island in Wales. Easily accessed by two bridges, it is an island steeped in history with a wealth of things to do and places to see. The puffins and seals make this a wildlife haven as do the many blue flag beaches. A fantastic selection of shops, cafes and award-winning restaurants combined with the formidable Beaumaris Castle and fantastic legends make it a great holiday destination. Here is our guide on things to do in Anglesey 2018:   ACTIVITIES BEAUMARIS CASTLE It is said to be the most technically perfect castle in Great Britain and has few that rival it. Set in the town of Beaumaris, it is certainly a must visit when in Anglesey. SOUTH STACK LIGHTHOUSE South Stack Lighthouse is situated on a small island, just off the coast of Holyhead on the North coast of Anglesey. Built in 1809 it is still in use today. Make your way down the 365 steps to get to the lighthouse and see how it worked in the past and how it was built… including those steps down to it. PLAS NEWYDD Plas Newydd is the ancestral home to the Marquess of Anglesey. Along with an incredible military museum showing uniforms from the Battle of Waterloo, you will also have the chance to see the famous Rex Whistler painting which is the largest canvas painting in the UK. RIB RIDES Whether you want to explore the Menai Straits at high speeds, take on the swells and whirlpools or a look around the islands to see the puffins and seals it is a great experience. ANGLESEY RACE CIRCUIT Along with the monthly spectator events run at the circuit, there are also car, bike and rally track days as well as driving experiences.
