Ceunant-Bach is set on the river bank and nestled in a protected ancient woodland. This boutique one bedroom holiday cottage is the perfect retreat for those wanting some R&R. As a separate annexe to a larger cottage, it is perfect for both those wanting to go away as a group but with your own space or as a couple to get away from it all.
If experiencing some time away surrounded by natural beauty is on your list of requirements then Ceunant Bach will certainly appeal to you. It’s a place where you can go walking through stunning mountain and woodland landscapes or go fishing from your doorstep. Its position within Snowdonia also makes it a great location to be able to explore the surrounding area. Being centrally positioned, you are within 30 minutes from the larger towns like Betws Y Coed or Porthmadog but also within 5 miles for ZipWorld, Slate Mountain and Antur Stiniog, downhill mountain biking centre.
The cottage itself is beautifully decorated; uncluttered with splashes of modern mixed with traditional and all the cosy quirks an old stone building offers. Set on one floor, the sitting room, with its log burner and big, plush leather sofa is the perfect place to curl up in, looking out through the glass french doors into the woods and the river – it is picture-perfect.
The kitchen is more modern with off white kitchen cabinets, slate floors and the all-important modern appliances. Plenty of space to cater during your stay and the views of the natural woodland that surrounds you through the kitchen window will make the whole experience of cooking and washing up that much more enjoyable!
The bedroom is fantastic. More like a boutique-style suite, there is plenty of room with a large king-size bed and chaise longue. The rest of the beautiful furniture make it feel very sumptuous and will certainly make you feel like you are staying somewhere special.
The period style bathroom, with its rolled top bath is the perfect match to the bedroom and where a relaxing bubble bath will certainly be on the cards.
Ceunant-bach is within close proximity to Ceunant-Mawr, which sleeps an additional three guests.

The cottage itself is located within 3 acres of forest, heathland and garden which includes part of a protected oak woodland and a river. Trout and Salmon are in the river and the cottage comes with a fishing licence, so if you want to catch your supper during your stay, then the opportunity is there. A footpath down into Coed Cymrd is from your doorstep so you can literally just pull your boots and coats on and go.
Blaenau Ffestiniog, whilst not officially in Snowdonia is set right in the middle of it and has a surprising amount of attractions on offer; including the Zipworld Bounce Below, Llechwedd Slate Mines and downhill mountain biking centre, Antur Stiniog. There is a good selection of cafes to go to during the day and a visit to the famous Model Bakery on the high street is a must – famous for their Kurdish Pastries, everything here is great – including the owner who is needless to say quite a famous character in the area!
Porthmadog is the nearest large town and where you’ll find all the big supermarkets for your supplies. There is a good high street with lots of gift shops and cafes and of course the starting point for the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways which you can actually jump on as it passes through Blaenau if you prefer. A great marina and a lovely walk over to Borth Y Gest is also here. The Portmeirion Village is also just a 5 minute drive out of Porthmadog.
The castle town of Harlech is to the south and a great place to spend a morning or afternoon – a beautiful beach along with the castle always makes for a good day. Barmouth, the quintessential seaside town is a little further south and where you’ll enjoy everything a seaside town has to offer – including an amusement park and a blue flag beach.
Betws Y Coed and Llanberis is to the west and where you can enjoy all the activities the mountains provide. Outdoor activities are easily available and there are lots of local companies that you can go out with to try something different like canyoning down the river.
Whichever direction you choose to go, there is plenty to do for everyone and the only problem you’ll have is deciding on what it is you want to do!
