Breathtaking views across Cardigan Bay and the mountains of North Wales

Breathtaking views across Cardigan Bay | Hen-Feudy

Location is everything of course and it doesn’t get much better than this. Hen-Feudy is a single story barn conversion in the village of Dyffryn Ardudwy half way between Harlech and Barmouth on the Cambrian coast road. In a slightly elevated position on the outskirts of the village the cottage commands breathtaking views across Cardigan Bay and the mountains of North Wales.

Holiday Cottages North Wales Log Fire

The cottage has a lovely patio area as well as big mature gardens facing out over the coastline. But large glass paneled oak doors in both the kitchen dinner and the lounge ensures that the view can be enjoyed from the inside as well. In the kitchen this sense of light and space is amplified still further by a high vaulted ceiling and modern lighting. Sleek white units are topped with a polished black granite worktop whilst a more traditional welsh dresser and exposed stonewall give character and a sense of place.

The solid oak flooring continues next door into the lounge. Two large 3 seater sofas sit in front of a cast iron log burner. A modern TV sits in the corner of the room but your attention will undoubtedly be drawn to the view outside especially as the sun dips down into the bay towards the end of the day.

Two bedrooms, one double one twin. Again, both are bright and airy and well appointed. The bathroom next door has a contemporary suite complete with powerful shower over a large bath. A small utility room houses the washing machine and small freezer.

Location

Dyffryn is a nice village complete with a small grocery store, butchers, post office and garage. All are within walking distance of the cottage. Same goes for the pub too. Which is handy. Visitors to this part of North Wales are spoilt for choice regards beaches. But it’s difficult to beat the sandy dunes of Bennar Beach in Dyffryn itself.

Jump in the car and the historic town of Harlech is 10minutes drive to the North and the seaside town of Barmouth is 10 minutes to the south. Moelfre and the Rhinog Mountain rage is just behind the cottage and are well worth exploring but Snowdon is about 40 mins to the north. Coed Y Brennin to the west is a mecca for mountain bikers and many more adventure type activities can be enjoyed in the surrounding area.

What a beautiful accommodation couldn’t want any more from a holiday home.
Very spacious both inside and out.
Will definitely book again and highly recommend to friends and family.
Visited the Nancol waterfalls close by and had a lovely day.
Even the wonderful Welsh weather was kind to us with plenty of sunshine 🙂
Had a great stay – many thanks

Lovely cottage, well equipped, spacious and very comfortable. Fabulous views from the garden – sunsets were stunning. The garden was great for the dog and is enclosed and safe for children to play. We had a great stay in a real home from home. Lovely location close to Barmouth and Harlech with lots to do and great walks. A really great holiday – thank you

A fab cottage with wonderful views and everything we needed for a great week in Wales. The dog loved lying in front of the wood burner after long days walking in the Cwm Nantcol and Cwm Bychan areas which are only 10 mins drive away and absolutely stunning. Beautiful, long stretches of deserted beaches very close by, and both Barmouth and Harlech only 15 minutes drive away in either direction. The welcome pack of Welsh beers, Brie and cakes was much appreciated on arrival. Owner very friendly with good advice on walks and places to eat and after that, left us to ourselves all week. Sunset over the bay lovely, viewed from the top of the garden with a hot chocolate on the windy evenings. Can’t recommend this cottage highly enough.

Really lovely cottage, finished to a high standard, very comfortable and warm with fantastic views. Good for kids – lots of little nooks to explore in the garden with a large patio for running around on. We had a great time enjoying the view, exploring the beaches and traveling on trains! The goody box was very nice, and very welcome after the drive over. Owners very helpful with advice and information. Many thanks.

Many Thanks for a great break. We all really enjoyed our stay in this wonderful cottage. It was clean, comfortable and well equipped. The welcome pack was really appreciated and a nice touch. The log fire was great and we enjoyed watching the sun set’s over the sea with a glass of wine or two. Our boys loved the garden and we were blessed with great weather. The only thing we would add would be some more local information in the cottage on local walks, access to beaches, recommended places to eat where to buy additional logs etc. We would definitely look to return as we enjoyed our stay and the area so much!

The barn was cute yet spacious – the logs for the fire, bara brith and fresh eggs were a welcoming treat. A most relaxing holiday in a lovely. modern, warm and exceptionally clean property. The garden was great for the dog who roamed around it in all day, it was large enough for her to explore and safe enough for us not to worry. I would recommend Hen Fuedy to those wishing to explore the mountains and coast (spectacular), dog owners and those wishing to come home to a real log burning fire after a strenous climb up Snowdon. Thankyou for making us feel at home.

The local beaches were breathtaking and walked every day.

There is an italian in Tal Y Bont ~ food good but owner ~ a bit too intrusive and spoilt the evening!!

The cottage is lovely and was perfect for our holiday. It is comfy and warm, well equipped and modern.

It would have been really helpful to have a guide to the house and local area so perhaps that is something for the future! For instance, we could not stop the cooker from beeping!

The walks from the house to the beach are great and the beach is incredible, even in less than perfect weather.

For future users – the house does not have much mobile coverage and no wifi although there is a local internet cafe. We did not find a nice local pub but thought Harlech was worth a visit and we enjoyed dinner at Mawddach. The forest north of Dolgellau is also worth an explore, especially for mountain bikers.

Other note of caution – dont rely on sat nav to come in from the south as it tries to take you over a toll bridge across the estuary that closes at odd times!

    Thanks,
    Emily, Giles, Vix and Olivia

  12. Mike, Dorset says:

Thanks for the super last minute help with the cottage. This was absolutely perfect for our last minute honeymoon. It was just what we needed after large family parties, somewhere private with beautiful views to relax in. We lucked out with great weather being able to see the mountains over the water during the stunning sunsets each night. The cottage was just as described, modern and everything to enjoy our stay. Including a waiting local ale, which didn’t last long after the long drive up.
    Thanks again
    Mike & Kat
