Breathtaking views across Cardigan Bay and the mountains of North Wales

Breathtaking views across Cardigan Bay | Hen-Feudy

Location is everything of course and it doesn’t get much better than this. Hen-Feudy is a single story barn conversion in the village of Dyffryn Ardudwy half way between Harlech and Barmouth on the Cambrian coast road. In a slightly elevated position on the outskirts of the village the cottage commands breathtaking views across Cardigan Bay and the mountains of North Wales.

Holiday Cottages North Wales Log Fire

The cottage has a lovely patio area as well as big mature gardens facing out over the coastline. But large glass paneled oak doors in both the kitchen dinner and the lounge ensures that the view can be enjoyed from the inside as well. In the kitchen this sense of light and space is amplified still further by a high vaulted ceiling and modern lighting. Sleek white units are topped with a polished black granite worktop whilst a more traditional welsh dresser and exposed stonewall give character and a sense of place.

The solid oak flooring continues next door into the lounge. Two large 3 seater sofas sit in front of a cast iron log burner. A modern TV sits in the corner of the room but your attention will undoubtedly be drawn to the view outside especially as the sun dips down into the bay towards the end of the day.

Two bedrooms, one double one twin. Again, both are bright and airy and well appointed. The bathroom next door has a contemporary suite complete with powerful shower over a large bath. A small utility room houses the washing machine and small freezer.

Dyffryn is a nice village complete with a small grocery store, butchers, post office and garage. All are within walking distance of the cottage. Same goes for the pub too. Which is handy. Visitors to this part of North Wales are spoilt for choice regards beaches. But it’s difficult to beat the sandy dunes of Bennar Beach in Dyffryn itself.

Jump in the car and the historic town of Harlech is 10minutes drive to the North and the seaside town of Barmouth is 10 minutes to the south. Moelfre and the Rhinog Mountain rage is just behind the cottage and are well worth exploring but Snowdon is about 40 mins to the north. Coed Y Brennin to the west is a mecca for mountain bikers and many more adventure type activities can be enjoyed in the surrounding area.

My husband and I have had a lovely holiday at this spacious cottage and our jack Russel Jasper loved the fact that he could come and go as he pleased through the open door into the fabulous big enclosed garden whenever he liked, the patio was a proper sun trap and as the weather was very hot was a perfect spot for a bit of sun bathing and eating outdoors, there was a welcome pack which was a lovely touch and fresh flowers out of the garden on the table.Everything you need for a home from home holiday is here in this lovely location.
Thank you for a smashing week in your fab cottage.

  2. Martin Dunkerley says:

A beautiful spot with fantastic views over Cardigan Bay, good walks and beaches within easy reach. The cottage is lovely and clean with everything that you need for a comfortable stay, except storage space in both bedrooms is inadequate. No wardrobes in either bedroom, very limited drawer space in main bedroom and none at all in the second bedroom.
We do not think that the coatstand in the main bedroom is an adequate replacement for a wardrobe and there was no mirror in the second bedroom.
Despite that, we had a very enjoyable break.

  3. Phil Sant says:

  5. NEIL MAYOR says:

We were so lucky with the weather as was excellent. The location of the accommodation was very good with super views. Not good if want a walk though with an elderly person as the slope is very steep. But if you want view then its pay off.
Sofas were too soft we thought as we sank into them and mum being old found it difficult to get up and mum thought double was too firm although was fine for me so swapped after first night.
All in all very good accommodation and location .

Just returned from a lovely week in Hen Feudy – despite the weather being particularly unkind at times! Ann was very helpful though not intrusive. We definitely recommend this cosy converted barn which has lovely views and stands up to the wind and rain exceedingly well! We would love to return.

We have just returned from a wonderful week at Hen Feudy. Complete privacy, no sign that dogs had previously stayed and our dogs had a perfect time they loved the large enclosed garden. It was everything we hoped for and more thank you Louise for sorting it out for us. We were completely overwhelmed by the beach and the whole area was so clean. Would definitely recommend to friends and family.

  12. Debbie and Rob Price says:

Just returned from a glorious 2 weeks at Hen Feudy. This property is so gorgeous, and the views so beautiful. Ann and Ifan are such a lovely couple, and popped in to see if we had everything we wanted. The lovely touch when you first go in is a welcome pack with lots of Welsh goodies in as well as some fresh flowers. Everything you need is available at the property. Our two cavaliers Elsa and Rosie spent many enjoyable hours running round the garden! We don’t let them off their leads for walks so they particularly enjoy the large garden and the space to Run free. Have holidayed in this area for many years and this is by far the best property we have ever stayed in, and we will definitely be booking another visit!
