One of the great aspects of this part of Snowdonia is the varied landscape. Sandy beaches in front of you, rugged mountains behind you. You can be hiking up a mountain in the morning and sunning yourself on a golden beach in the afternoon.

The cottage itself has a modern finish with lots of windows which gives the place a really light and airy feel. The windows also help to frame those breathtaking sea views. The sitting room is at the far end of the house and there is plenty of comfy seating along with a log burner which is always a winner when you are coming to this part of the world – it just adds to the ambience and the experience.

The large kitchen has oak style kitchen units and a large dining room table that is positioned by the window so you have a dreamy view of the sea as you take your morning coffee. A red Smeg fridge adds a splash of colour and all the other appliances are new – there is everything you need to cater for your group and plenty of room for whoever is in charge of the catering to have company while they whip up a storm in the kitchen.

The three bedrooms are at the other end of this ground floor holiday cottage with breathtaking sea views. Three double rooms, they follow the feel of the rest of the property with wooden floorboards, muted tones and simple furniture. The first double bedroom has an extra day bed if two of your party would prefer separate beds.

One of the bedrooms has an elegant en-suite shower room. There is also a family bathroom with a shower over bath, WC and washbasin.

Llanfair is one of the smaller villages between Harlech and Barmouth. The nearest beach is Llandanwg which is great for rock pooling and stone art – with mountains of stones of all shapes and sizes, you can spend hours trying to get them to balance. There is also a large mussel bed here so if you fancy a bit of foraging at low tide, it’s a great place to do it.

To the north and just up the road is Harlech – home to the famous castle and visitor centre and a bustling high street with lots of places to eat and lovely gifts shops. There is the famous St Davids Golf course, along with a swimming pool and rock climbing wall – don’t forget to walk up the newly acclaimed “Steepest Street In The World’ …for a small town, there are lots on offer here.

A little further north will bring you to Portmeirion Village and Porthmadog. Porthmadog is where you’ll find the larger supermarkets and the steam train that takes you into the mountains.

Barmouth is to the south and a fantastic seaside town where there are lots of shops, places to eat and drink along with a lovely harbour, beach and amusement park. Have a go at SUP on the estuary – I dare you to find a more beautiful place to give it a go! A day here is always a lot of fun!

Mountain biking, Canyoning, climbing, whitewater rafting, surfing, ziplines, walking, kayaking… it is all on your doorstep.

We had a wonderful 2 night stay at this cottage, with gorgeous views of the beach. The cottage was immaculate. It was good to see that coffee, tea, sugar etc was provided, we even had Netflix available on the TV! Can’t fault anything!

  2. Karen Fisher says:

We stayed here twice this summer and would very highly recommend. As other comments note – Michelle is super helpful, the cottage has everything you could want, extremely comfortable and views are to die for. The location is fabulous. We have been coming to this area for years but have never stayed in this part – and will definitely be back! It is central for many of the sights in the area if travelling by car or public transport. And if on foot it is in walking distance to the absolutely wonderful Harlech beach, plus endless mountain walks nearby. Thanks Michelle – we will be back!

  3. Madeleine Wallis says:

The bungalow was an excellent choice for a peaceful holiday and had everything we needed. Michelle was lovely, texting us to ensure everything was ok and assuring us that she was on hand should we have needed anything. Beautiful views from the bungalow and a lovely decking area where we could relax with a coffee or glass of wine. Not far from the train station or bus stops. Would highly recommend.

  4. Sue Howell says:
