Harlech Holiday Cottage With Sea Views | Fron-Hyfryd

This Harlech holiday cottage with sea views is located right in the heart of the famous castle town. Perched between the mountains of Snowdonia and the beautiful sandy coastline of Cardigan Bay, the cottage is walking distance to a lovely selection of shops, cafes and restaurants.

Harlech Holiday Cottage With Sea Views | Fron-Hyfryd

The living area of this traditional quarryman’s cottage has been knocked through to provide a nice, big open plan space. At one end a large sofa and leather armchair face onto a large log fire sitting on a slate hearth. At breakfast time, the traditional dining table and chairs at the other end of the room will hopefully witness lots of animated discussions over the adventures that lay ahead as well as more tranquil family meals at the end of a busy day.

The kitchen, towards the back of the house is very well equipped with a large fridge-freezer, electric oven and hob along with a washer dryer. Plenty of storage room in the plain white fitted units and a small breakfast bar is a welcome addition.

There are two main bedrooms upstairs; one double and one twin. The double looks out towards the sea whilst the twin room looks out over the tops of the neighbouring houses towards Snowdon itself. Both bedrooms are spotlessly clean with elegant fresh linen covering Victorian style beds. The family bathroom at the top of the stairs has a large shower cubicle and a plain white bathroom suite. There is a third unfurnished bedroom. Too small for a bed but perfect for a travel cot or small camp bed or luggage storage.

The cottage is located on a hill leading up from the high-street of this bustling seaside town. The hill ensures that the cottage commands brilliant views over the town and coastline beyond, but the gradient may not suit anyone with mobility difficulties.

The back garden is small but has fantastic views. Here, guests can look out over treetops and chimney pots towards the famous castle rising up right in the heart of town. Beyond, the Cardigan Bay coastline can be seen curving from left to right towards Porthmadog and then left again towards the tip of the Llyn peninsula and the distant flash of Bardsey lighthouse.

Harlech is home to a couple of grocery shops, a nice selection of cafes and restaurants. Barmouth, some 15 minutes to the south and Porthmadog, 15 minutes to the North will provide guests with a larger selection of shops and cafes. No need to wander to find better beaches, however. The golden sands of Harlech beach must be among the cleanest and nicest stretches of coastline in the UK.

No need for the car when looking for a country hike either. A walk up the hill from the cottage away from town will quickly bring you to the foothills of Cwm Bychan. Beautiful rolling hills that lay just in front of the steeper Rhinog Mountain Range. There are lots of adventure activity providers in the area. Everything from mountain biking, to gorge walking and from zip lining to underground caving can be enjoyed nearby.

    What a lovely cottage!
It was clean and beautifully equipped and maintained. The welcome pack was an unexpected treat and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
A word of caution though….if you, or any member of your party have any kind of mobility issue this is not the place for you. The cottage is on a very steep hill, the garden can only be accessed by a steep flight of steps….oh, and there is no pub in walking distance. None of these things would put me off visiting again!

Recently stayed at Fron Hyfryd for half term. Beautiful cottage very clean and recently refurbished. Was greeted on arrival with tea, milk, wine and a tasty handmade fruit cake, what more could we want after a long journey. The location itself was perfect for a family of four wanting to explore the Snowdonia National Park. Harlech has a lovely beach and a castle so close to the cottage you can see it whilst sat in the garden. Would happily recommend staying in this cottage to anyone wanting to visit this area. Thanks again for a wonderful week away.

What a beautiful Cottage so homely, clean tidy modern comfortable and in great location. We were here for a week and this was our 6th Cottage with Dioni.
Never had any complaints and always treated wonderful. We have 2 more holidays with Dioni cottages this year. BUT sad to say we had wales weather this week which we had expected, but NO WARNING THAT WE WOULD BE living next to a building site on the Cottage next door. Having not been warned of this out of curtsey it would and should of been done. We had to stay in doors most days with the noise next door. This has spoilt our weeks holiday but as it’s the first complaint we have come across, we are expecting the next 2 to be of better standards. Thank goodness for DVDs choices on hand and high volume on tv… Jayne & Jeff

Fron-Hyfryd, Harlech is the best holiday accommodation we have experienced either in the UK or abroad. The cottage was tastefully decorated, extremely well equipped and immaculately clean. We would happily recommend this property to anyone.
Harlech also proved to be a good base for our tour of Snowdonia.

  5. Sofia says:

We had a fantastic bank holiday weekend, cottage is lovely, very clean and comfortable. Very cosy and the little garden with the amazing view was my mum’s and daughter’s favourite. Owner left us some goodies which we enjoyed (thank you !!!)

  6. Hannah Gray says:

We had a lovely week in Harlech, despite the rain we still found plenty to do! The cottage was as good as we expected from the website, and the welcome gifts were indeed welcome! Thank you for providing a great property for our stay.

  7. Mark says:

We stayed here at the end of May for a week and our party was 2 adults and 2 kids aged 13 and 9.
The house itself was perfect for us, 2 bedrooms and a spare room used for toys and getting ready in the morning. The kitchen was well stocked for us, we don’t tend to cook when on holidays so didn’t use the cooker. Plenty of utensils to use for breakfast and serving up the take aways! The house was clean throughout and overall, perfect for us.
Outside the house there is a short steep hill down to the top village of Harlech with a few shops, cafes and eateries. Remember the short steep climb is uphill coming home!
It’s worth noting that most of the cafes are closed by 5 and the Spa shop closes at 8 and is cash only. There is a post office inside that gives cash and also a cash machine by the castle.
There isn’t a huge choice of evening eats to walk to, the Castle restaurant is lovely for tapas in the evening but you need to book. There is another restaurant in the village but closes at 9.30 so no orders taken after 8.30. We were told to get there by 7.30 as you can’t book and it gets busy. Food was lovely!
There is a pub, the Lion Inn, but this is currently closed and boarded up so there is no place to get a pint of beer in the top village. There are 2 pubs down on the coastal road, with a steep walk down (and back up!)
Indian takeaway looks a bit rough inside and out, but food was very nice. Same with the Chinese takeaway. Also a chippy but it isn’t open much so you’d need to drop by and check opening times. There is a bistro also, but this seemed to be couple oriented rather than family so we didn’t try this.
So overall, loved our stay here, cottage was lovely!

  8. Scott says:

An absolutely beautiful cottage with all the facilities you need. Very clean and newly refurbished. Lovely location a stones throw from Harlech Castle. Thumbs up

  9. Angharad says:

A lovely comfortable little cottage, just right for a family of four. Kitchen a bit lacking in utensils if you’re mostly eating in, but all very clean and otherwise well equipped. Very convenient for the village, and for walks up the hill. Would definitely stay here again.

  10. John Crowder says:

Excellent cottage for a break. Clean and fresh with a cosy feel. Host left us wine, tea coffee and Bara brith which was a lovely touch. Harlech is in a great spot for country and beach walks from the doorstep with a handful of shops and eateries. Its well served by both public transport links and road as a base. Id have no hesitation in staying there again.

  11. Helen says:

Cottage is very clean and comfortable. Excellent walks from the doorstep.

  12. Clare says:

Stayed at Fron Hyfryd – had nice winter weather, great for walking. House lovely, clean and comfortable.

    1. Susan Watling says:

We had a very enjoyable holiday at Fron Hyfryd. The cottage was well equipped and clean. We found it comfy and cosy with a little patio at the back that we put to good use, eating breakfast in the morning sunshine and having a drink in the evening as we watched the sunset over Harlech castle and the sea. Good centre for Snowdonia and the coast.
