Holiday Cottage in the Conwy Valley | Llwyn-Y-Coed-Isaf

Llwyn-Y-Coed Isaf is a 3 bedroom bungalow holiday cottage in the Conwy valley. Overlooking the banks of the Conwy Valley, 10 minutes outside Conwy itself, on the northern border of the Snowdonia National Park. I’ll have to mention the view first. It’s just fantastic. An uninterrupted panorama across the valley. The Conwy River slowly winds its way to the sea flanked by beds of golden reeds as shadows dance across the rolling hills on the banks beyond.

Naturally, the house has been arranged so that guests can enjoy the view from almost every room in the house. But the lounge does it best perhaps. Large comfortable sofas, a nice telly and fire are all included. But best of all are the large patio doors that overlook the valley below.

The dining area is the other end of the room and sits 6 quite comfortably. This open plan arrangement is perfect for younger families giving the children the opportunity to escape towards the telly when they get bored of the grown ups conversation.

Great view from the kitchen too. And a nice modern fitted kitchen complete with large fridge and dishwasher. The freezer and washing machine are in the adjoining utility room.

This holiday cottage in the Conwy valley has three bedrooms in total. All well proportioned and nicely laid out. One bedroom has a king sized bed, the next also has a king size bed and the third has twin beds. All of them have plenty of wardrobe space, bed side lamps etc and the linen has been carefully chosen and go well with this light and cheerful property. Two bathrooms with wc’s. One has a spacious shower the other has a shower over bath arrangement. The heating and hot water run off a oil fired combi boiler so an unlimited supply of hot water is assured.

Location

Like me, you may not be as familiar with this northern part of The Snowdonia National Park. But the rolling hills and wide valleys are a pleasing contrast to the more rugged peaks and troughs in other parts of the Park. And Llwyn Y Coed is a great base from which to explore. Conwy town centre and it’s famous medieval castle is only 10 minutes away. And Conwy’s sandy beach and golf course are another 5 minutes further on. The RSPB nature reserve is also worth a visit. Llandudno, a popular shopping town for locals and tourists, is 20 minutes away to the north. Betws Y Coed is a quieter more picturesque town to the south. This town of course, is very popular with adventure sports enthusiasts. Speaking of which the celebrated Marin Mountain Bike Trail sets off from Llanrwst, just 10 minutes down the road. The trail is 25km long and includes some big climbs and steep single track descents so not for the faint hearted. Other, gentler attractions you should visit includes the wonderful Bodnant Gardens, the National Food Centre also on the Bodnant Estate, the roman spa and woollen mill at Trefriw and the Welsh Mountain Zoo at Colwyn Bay. Ramblers will revel in the fact that the Carneddau Mountains are right on your doorstep. There are two pubs in the village, both serving food. These are within easy walking distance as is the village shop, the post office and the butchers.

Stayed for Christmas the property is first class, it was beautifully decorated we had an amazing time the memories will stay with us for a lifetime. The views and stars at night were wonderful just wish I could take them home with us. Conwy on Christmas Eve was magical with the carols around the tree to Santa and the fireworks were brilliant.

  2. 5* Lovely Cottage. The owners have thought of every home comfort – thank you! Very clean and well equipped with amazing views. Very cosy in every room. We had a fantastic week and can also recommend the village pub for a delicious meal.

Really impressed at whole experience – efficient and friendly service for booking, clear directions for reaching cottage, and friendly welcome from Emma when we arrived, plus milk and biscuits. The house was lovely, a really well stocked kitchen – we cooked a full roast for 7, when my cousins visited – and the views were everything that other guests have described, including fabulous rainbows We brought bird food with us and enjoyed watching a constant flurry of activity on the feeding station.
We came to revisit childhood holiday haunts and my grandfather’s birthplace at Llanrwst, but there were so many activities to choose from, we could have done with another week. Although my parents are 90 and not up for long walks, we were so impressed at the facilities for them, at the lovely RSPB centre, on Conwy Quay, at Bodnant Gardens and at Surf Snowdonia. For the more able bodied, lovely walks from the house along the river and up to the waterfall behind the house, also further afield at Crafnant and Gerionydd.
Brilliant area, beautiful house, excellent service Thank you so much

  5. We had a Lovely Holiday, The Bungalow is very Spacious and the views are stunning, Central for lots of places to see and things to do, the children Loved the New Fforest Coaster, and will be going on that lots more times,,,,,,The two settee’s was very comfortable, they could do with some new pans, and also the cutelry drawer we emptied, as it needed cleaning out badly, so we gave it a good clean, also skirting boards could do with a clean,,,,,,,Apart from that, we loved it, and would stay here again……….

What a fabulous house and location and every need catered for; a real home from home that has everything young and old alike could want. Little touches like cake on arrival (homemade) and multiple games, CD’s DVD’s & Great wifi signal. Bathrooms beautiful with plenty of hot water on demand.
12 min drive to Conwy but had groceries delivered to save time. Walks from the door and the only downside for our dog was the number of sheep in every field which meant lots of lead walks but head to the beaches and the north wales coast path from Conwy and there’s a bit more freedom. Recommend Surf Snowdonia just down the road, great fun and not expensive. Look out for the hidden waterfalls just off the main road out of Dolgarrog – for those who don’t want to walk far. Also recommend the Tramway to the Great Orme with wonderful views and walks around from the top.
All in all, this is the best house we’ve rented in the last 5 years and if anything is under-priced (but shhh, don’t tell the owners!)

We enjoyed a lovely break at Llwyn Y coed Isaf,
the cottage was perfect in every way, the Autumn colours
in Dyffryn Conwy were stunning and the view across over the flood
plain beautiful and ever changing – we’ll definitely be back.

Our second visit to this property. The property never fails to deliver the decoration is beautiful and amenities are excellent. The view from the lounge is magnificent, just wish I could take it come with me. Our Party found plenty of excellent places to eat in the surrounding areas for those not willing to cook. We definately will be back again next year. This is a real credit to Dioni and the owners.

We were blessed with fantastic weather and had a really enjoyable week in the bungalow which is very well equipped and immaculately maintained. The views over the Conway valley are stunning and the location very private and tranquil. It is has everything, very convenient for some excellent eating places and the attractions of Conway and Snowdonia. There are lovely walks around Trefiw and LLanwrst. Surf Snowdonia is five minutes walk away and well worth a visit. We would highly recommend this accommodation to families and couples alike and will definitely return.
