Large And Spacious Holiday Retreat on Anglesey | Prys-Iorwerth

This large and spacious holiday retreat on Anglesey has the look and feel of a luxurious country club. Bright and welcoming, it comes with plenty of room for everyone to spread out. It sleeps up to 14 guests, and pets are also welcome.

You’ll find the cottage on a family-run smallholding in the heart of the Anglesey countryside. It’s a real hidden gem. At the end of a quiet country lane, surrounded by rolling countryside, it comes with far-reaching views of mountains and coast.

The cottage is also close to some of Anglesey’s most beautiful beaches, with Aberffraw, Newborough and Rhosneigr all close by. The local pub at Aberffraw serves up delicious food and drink if you fancy a night away from the stove, and the many decent eateries of Menai Bridge are an easy 20 minute drive.

But let’s get back to the cottage. It really is pretty fantastic. Downstairs, you have a very big kitchen diner which looks like it has come straight from the pages of a glossy magazine. There is a large range cooker, loads of cupboard space, dishwasher and all the pots, pans, gadgets and gizmos you could possibly need.

There is also a huge fridge, so plenty of space for your haul of holiday food and wine. The kitchen diner is a very sociable space, and comfortably seats up to twenty, with a dining table for ten and a less formal breakfast dining area which also seats ten. Patio doors open out from the kitchen to the outside space.

There is a separate utility room with a washing machine, tumble dryer and lots of hooks and space for coats, shoes and boots.

The cottage has two lovely sitting room areas. The main sitting room is a good size but super cosy, and comes with comfortable plush sofas and armchairs arranged around a toasty woodburning stove. There is a wall mounted TV. The second sitting room sits under vaulted ceilings and is a great space for pre or post dinner drinks. It comes with big windows and great views of the countryside beyond.

The final downstairs room is a lovely ensuite double bedroom, perfect if you have anyone in your group with limited mobility or who prefers not to do stairs.

Upstairs at this large and spacious holiday retreat on Anglesey there are a further six bedrooms, including five double bedrooms and one with bunk beds. Four of the six bedrooms are ensuite, and there is a good sized family bathroom too. All of the rooms are immaculately presented.

Outside the cottage, in addition to all the green space already mentioned, you have a big lawned area which is ideal for a kickabout or a game of rounders or cricket.

Location

You’ll find this large and spacious holiday retreat on Anglesey in the heart of the island’s countryside, ten miles west of Menai Bridge. Close to beautiful beaches at Rhosneigr, Aberffraw and Newborough, it is a brilliant base for a family holiday, or a getaway with a group of friends.

If you don’t know Anglesey already, you’re in for a treat. The largest island in Wales, it is just a short drive from the Welsh mainland, but a million miles away from the daily grind.

If you have visited before, you’ll know that this magical place has one of the most beautiful coastlines in the UK. The wide sandy beach and dunes of Aberffraw are just a 5 minute drive away. Park in Aberffraw village and walk around half a mile along the sandy banks of the River Ffraw to get there. This is a beautiful rural spot with magnificent scenery and a distinct lack of crowds. At low tide you can walk to the far side of the bay, or follow the Anglesey Coastal Path to walk to the Church in the Sea at Porth Cwyfan. You can walk out to the 13th century church at low tide.

Newborough Warren is a 15-minute drive. This is a truly enchanting place where pine trees roll down to sandy dunes and marram grass, a shallow sandy beach and the tiny Llanddwyn Island. Legend has it that this was the 5th century home of Dwynwen, the Welsh patron saint of lovers. Now the island is home to a beautiful Celtic cross, a lighthouse, wild ponies and the most spectacular mountain views. You can walk to the island at low tide. On your way, look out for red squirrels in the Newborough Warren reserve.

Also close to this large and spacious holiday retreat on Anglesey, is Rhosneigr. This is a fab place for anyone who loves a great expanse of sand, rock pooling or exploring sandy dunes. Rhosneigr is popular with surfers and kite surfers, and there are a couple of surf and stand up paddleboard schools and places to hire if you fancy having a go. There is a buzz to this popular seaside town, which has plenty of family-friendly places to eat out and some nice independent shops.

Adventure seekers might also like to take a high-speed boat trip down the Menai Strait with Rib Ride, or a more sedate boat trip out to Puffin Island. There are plenty of outdoor specialists offering activities like coasteering, kayaking, horse riding and gorge scrambling. And you’re just a short drive from the high speed thrills of Zip World at Bethesda, a 40 minute drive to a world-first inland surf lagoon at Adventure Parc Snowdonia.

Beyond the outdoor space at the cottage, younger families will love the rides and adventures at Greenwood Forest Park, and the butterflies, meerkats and assorted other animal friends at Anglesey’s Pili Palas.

If you like to dine out on your hols you’ll find plenty of fantastic places to eat on Anglesey, from fine dining at the award-winning Bull in Beaumaris, to rustic chic at The Marram Grass near Newborough, which is run by Great British Menu chef Ellis Barrie and his brother Liam. Dylan’s, in Menai Bridge, serves up delicious seafood and pizzas with spectacular views across the Menai Strait to the mountains of Snowdonia. For something closer to home, head to the excellent Y Goran pub at Aberffraw.
