Gwastadcoed-Uchaf is a large holiday cottage with fantastic sea views over Cardigan Bay in North Wales. Luxurious accommodation with that real wow factor. The original farmhouse and neighbouring barn have been connected via a glazed walkway. This kooky layout combined with fantastic interior design makes this a very special place and a great holiday destination.
Let’s start in the kitchen diner located in the original barn. Wow! A huge room with oak bifold doors that open right out to make the most of that all important sea view. The huge dining table takes centre stage and the kitchen facilities all meet expectation. Everything you could need when catering for a big group with a great layout and of course that vista from wherever you stand in the room. On those beautiful sunny days, you can open those doors and move out onto to decking; just remember that small children will need to be supervised on decking.
Just off from the kitchen down a small filght of steps is the main sitting room. A very impressive room with dark slate floors and large log burner surrounded by a mix of sofa’s and ornate furniture giving it a very modern but comfortable feel. I love it!
Next door to this sitting room we have a ground floor double bedroom which is simply yet elegantly furnished. If we return to the sitting room and climb a flight of stairs we have three more bedrooms. One double room (with limited headroom) and a twin room are joined on a split level. Across the landing is one more double bedroom and family bathroom with bath and separate shower.
We return downstairs before crossing over to the original farmhouse via a connecting corridor. In this part of the property we have a second kitchen and a second lounge area as well as two more bedrooms. The kitchen and lounge are smaller than the ones already described but will naturally allow guests staying in this part of the house some independence from the main group if they prefer.
Of the two bedrooms, one is on the ground floor but split over two levels. The second bedroom is upstairs and includes a luxurious ensuite bathroom with free standing bath and shower.

The outside space of the property is vast. With patio areas next to the house so you can enjoy eating alfresco with those incredible views. The rest of the garden is on a steep slope but plenty of footpaths and space to take a walk and admire the plants. A 14ft trampoline must be one of the trampolines with the best view in the world!
The property is based just north of Towyn in a small village called Llwyngwril. There is a pub, a small convenience store and a church in the village itself and you are not far from the beach.
10 miles to the east is Dolgellau. A thriving market town where you will find some great shops and cafes during and some lovely restaurants. There is a big Spar here too to stock up on food.
Corris, another nearby village, has the well known ‘Centre for Alternative Technology’ as well as a small craft village and ‘King Arthur’s Labyrinth’, an underground tour certain to capture a child’s imagination. The popular seaside towns of Aberdyfi and Towyn are a short drive to the south. Bala, to the east, is famous for its fishing and whitewater rafting and the world renowned mountain biking trails of Coed Y Brenin are about 30 minutes to the north.
This part of southern Snowdonia has spectacular landscape making it a walkers paradise. Less crowded than the slopes of Snowdon, the mountains in this part of the national park provide a real opportunity to explore the true wilderness of Wales.
