Luxurious Self Catering Accommodation on a Working Farm | Faeldre

Faeldre offers some truly luxurious self catering accommodation on a working farm and only a short drive from the beach. The westernmost corner of this large and historic farmhouse has been recently renovated into a 3 bedroom holiday cottage.

The spectacular sea views from the large picture windows combined with tastful decor, original features and luxurious modern touches creates a perfect base for your Snowdonia holiday.

You enter the cottage through a central porched doorway. The lounge is to the left, the kitchen-diner is to the right. In the lounge, two modern leather sofas sit facing onto a large flat screen TV on a plush new carpet. Whilst in the kitchen-diner the square dining table and chairs sit on a more traditional slate floor. Modern kitchen units house all the essential appliances. The slate flooring continues on into the ground floor bathroom. This includes a nice yet simple suit and a large walk in shower. All the slate flooring in kitchen, bathroom and hallway are heated underfloor – so rest assured you will have a warm and cosy welcome!

A second bathroom can be found on the first floor landing. Again we have a large walk in shower as well as a separate bath. Everything is beautifully tiled is soft subtle shades and includes underfloor heating.

3 bedrooms upstairs. The double bedroom, like everywhere else, is beautifully decorated and has the luxury of a walk in wardrobe. The twin room is in the older part of the house and, as a result, has a lovely high ceiling and a tall grand window, helping guests enjoy that spectacular sea view. The third single bedroom is smaller and should probably be classed as a child’s room although it has a full sized bed.

Location

The cottage is at the end of a private drive leading off the Cambrian coast road half way between Harlech and Barmouth on the western edge of Snowdonia. Llanbedr, the nearest village has a butchers, post office and small grocery shop as well as two pubs serving food. The larger towns of Barmouth and Harlech offer a wider selection of shops and restaurants perhaps and are 10 minutes away by car.

The area’s most obvious draw is the miles of beautifully clean sandy beaches nearby. Many walkers will also naturally head towards Snowdon during their stay, a 35 minute drive to the north. But guests should also take the opportunity to explore the rugged Rhinog mountains which are just behind the cottage.

Other activities within a short car journey include mountain biking at Coed Y Brenin, white water rafting at Tryweryn and pony trekking in Betws Y Coed. Smaller independent activity providers will also take you gorge walking, kite surfing, climbing etc. Two many to mention.

You can’t drive for more than five minutes in this area without passing an ancient burial ground, castle or some sort of historic monument. And our more recent industrial past can be re-lived with trips on narrow gauge steam railways and by exploring underground slate mines.

Or, you could just sit on the patio, read a book, drink a glass of wine and watch the sun go down.

Our second stay at Faeldre. The cottage is still wonderfully clean, well-equipped and comfortable as well as being extremely well-located for visiting Snowdonia, the Llyn Peninsula and the north coast. Watching the sun set over the dunes from the cottage windows (or the garden if it’s a bit warmer!) can’t be beaten.

Just had a really lovely week in what I can only describe as a fabulous house. Set right on the farm, it has views down to the sea one way and the hills and mountains left, behind and right. It really is situated in an ideal place to explore the North West of Wales. And a walk along the fantastic local beaches is a great way to start or end the day. The owners were very welcoming and could not have been more helpful. I would have no hesitation in recommending Faeldre if you were thinking of booking somewhere in this part of Wales. I will certainly be back for another stay. Thanks!

Lovely location and cottage is well equipped. Chickens seem to like the windowsill and kids found this hilarious! Super views and easy to get to (by car) local villages, pubs etc.. couple of things – ladies take a shower cap and there is no full length mirror. Also main bedroom mattress was not comfy at all, perhaps that’s just our taste. Overall a lovely stay in a quiet and peaceful location

We have just enjoyed a lovely holiday in this beautiful cottage. The views are superb you can see for miles and the sunsets magnificent. The beaches are so near and plenty places near hand to visit. Our little grandson just loved iwatching the tractors and playing in the garden. We were able to bbq in the garden as the evenings were so nice. Hoe to come back again . xx

  6. Thank you for a lovely Easter stay in your cottage, location was perfect for exploring North Wales, our children particularly enjoyed staying on a working farm with the new born lambs. The cottage was great the only complaint was tv reception was terrible, WiFi intermittent and the main bed was very soft , if they could be improved it would be a 5 Star place x

A superb cottage in a fantastic location. The cottage is well appointed & tastefully decorated, lovely & warm with great views to the sea & the Llyn peninsula.
One of the nicest holiday cottages we’ve stayed in, we look forward to coming back someday.

Couldn’t recommend this property more highly. Beautiful cottage in fabulous location with stunning views and friendly owners who live next door. We had a great holiday, the kids really enjoyed being on a working farm, loved the puppy and didn’t want to leave at the end of our stay.

We stayed here last October and had a lovely time!
Great to see the sheep and chickens each morning and a few minutes drive to the beaches
We had a bit of an emergency with on of our kids and Donna, the lovely owner, helped us with her welsh to find a hospital and sort our problem.
    Lovely place to stay
    Thank you!

Our first stay at Faeldre, and are genuinely hoping to return next year to this very clean, spacious and highly specified cottage, would highly recommend a stay here.

Just had a wonderful week staying at Faeldre. Beautiful cottage with stunning views. Spotlessly clean with a very well equipped kitchen. Our grandson, who is almost 4, loved the animals especially the 2 chickens who came to the kitchen window every morning. Lots of attractions for all ages within a short drive. Would highly recommend Faeldre.
