The actual cottage is half of the building; the right half and is accessed by a door on the side wall. Downstairs are two sitting rooms and a kitchen. The larger of the sitting rooms benefits from a huge, stone inglenook fireplace with log burner. Two minimal, but beautifully upholstered sofas accompanied by handmade bespoke wooden furniture make this room simple with the colours used bringing warmth. The smaller sitting room, again has a log burner and TV, but is more of a room to retreat to if you want a bit of down time.

The slate floors in the kitchen are a lovely touch which work really well alongside the  white units with oak tops. All new and modern appliances, including a double range oven are here. The large sash window looks out onto the grounds and brings a lot of light to the room. The dining table in here seats six. The kitchen has a great feel to it and is certainly going to be a place to congregate.

Upstairs there are two doubles and a twin. One of the doubles has an ensuite while the other two rooms share a family bathroom. The stairs leading up are beautifully restored floorboards which carry on through to the upstairs hallway. All the rooms are a good size with beautiful soft furnishings and furniture.

The family bathroom located up here has a large walk in shower, tiled throughout with modern fittings and colour scheme is very in-keeping with the rest of the house.

There are lots of activities nearby that will keep you entertained. Being so close to the mountains of Snowdonia there are endless opportunities for walking and climbing. Why not  try all kinds of watersports or fishing on the Menai Straits. Other adventure activities including climbing, coasteering, sailing, karting and surfing which are all available in the area.

Just WOW ! Such a beautiful property in a really great location. The house was spotlessly clean with everything you could possibly want for a week of absolute bliss in the Welsh countryside. The scones & wine were a lovely treat and the beds were so comfy. Thank you Nest for being a truly wonderful host & we will return next year for sure.

  2. Jayne says:

Thank you to the hosts for such a warm Welsh welcome. My mother and I enjoyed a lovely week of peace and relaxation in this lovely home. Everything was pristine and I urge anyone to find something that wasn’t provided, the owners have thought of everything. Even though we stayed in November and there were a few blustery evenings, we were warm and cosy inside and lucky enough to enjoy some sunny days to earlier the area. We hope to return in the future during summer to make use of the outside area and privacy, it would be stunning. Thank you so much.

  3. David says:

Lovely week for three generations of the same family. Delightful accommodation and a very welcome ‘welcome hamper’. Only suggestion would be for possible increased fridge space, but we loved the place and will definitely return.
So much to do in the area. Weather was kind and we spent much of week searching for excellent coffee and cake – personal favourite was Siop Coffi TH in Porthmadog (cheesecake recommended). In addition the search for best ice cream shop was won by the street vendor at the foot of Criccieth Castle by the beach.
Whole family loved crab fishing off the pier in Beaumaris and a trip to Trearddur Bay on Anglesey.

    Wholeheartedly recommend the place.

  4. Bob Ferris says:

From the moment Nest and Gwil welcomed us to the time we left, it was absolutely perfect. A beautiful house furnished to a very high standard in a beautiful and peaceful location. Ideal for visiting Portmeirion, Ffestiniog Railway, Snowdon and the Zip Slide, all of which we greatly enjoyed. A fantastic welcome from all of the Welsh people we met and a 100% great five days. A word of advice to anyone travelling from the London area. Avoid the M40/M6 route – go down the M4 into Wales and up through Builth Wells. Wonderful scenery and far less traffic.

  5. Bob Ferris says:

From the lovely welcome from Nest and Gwil to the day we left, idyllic. A beautiful house, furnished to a high standard and ideally situated. We greatly appreciated the quiet! I would recommend it to anyone – there can’t be any better places to stay. Ideal for Ffestiniog, Portmeirion, Snowdon, Caernarfon and the Zip Slide, all of which we greatly enjoyed. We would love to go back, but it is unlikely. We have lots to do and are running out of time! A tip for anyone travelling from the south-east. Instead of the M25/M40/M6 route, go down the M4 and up through Buith Wells. About the same distance but takes about an hour longer. Far less traffic and stunning scenery all the way after Buith Wells.

  6. J. Baden says:

This was a delightful period cottage, very tastefully decorated with every modern convenience needed. The owners were very warm and welcoming and we very much appreciated the treats left for us on our arrival. We were a family of six and found the house very spacious, it was an added bonus having the second living room which allowed for greater flexibility during our stay. The setting of the cottage was beautiful being surrounded by open fields and we very much enjoyed viewing the new spring lambs from the windows! The area was also very peaceful but only a short drive from many of the area’s attractions. We would have no hesitation in recommending this lovely holiday home.

  7. George Leith says:

The house was beautiful. Everything clean and fresh. The welcome pack was a very nice touch, the scones especially were lovely. There was plenty of space, with large bedrooms and even a wee snug in addition to the lounge. The large chest of games was inspiring, we sat and played them in front of the log fire, wonderful.

  8. Jenny says:

We had a lovely long weekend in March. The house was beautifully decorated and we were welcomed with freshly baked scones, flowers and some basic supplies including wine, which was much appreciated after a long journey. The owners are very welcoming and friendly and the house is located within easy reach of the beautiful welsh coastline and snowdonia. We would definitely recommend staying here and would come back again if in the area.

  9. Naomi Rees says:

This house is absolutely lovely. So tastefully designed and furnished. Everything was well equipped, beautifully cosy and with extra touches that would make this pretty stand out above the rest. The host was super – so warm and welcoming and the extra touches were a really joy – the homemade scones, the tea and coffee, the wine, fresh flowers and birthday treats for my Father.

The house is perfectly situated – a rural location yet close to everywhere you would want to visit in Snowdonia and amenities a short distance away despite being tucked away in a quiet location.

The bedding and beds were so cosy, the log fire a delight, kitchen well equipped and the entire house was utterly spotless.

We would not hesitate to return. Thank you for making our weekend extra special.

  10. Helen says:

We had a lovely week in August, The cottage is amazing, very tastefully decorated, spacious and comfortable. A warm welcome awaited us both from the owners and the little touches inside – fresh flowers, Wine, freshly baked welcome goods and the essential hot drinks provision. Will definitely return!

  11. Sam Simpson says:

The house was very recently decorated and stylish. The downstairs wc and shower was outside which wasn’t very convenient. We did recommend that the stairs would be safer with a hand rail. Otherwise everything was lovely.

  12. Philip Symons says:

A beautiful, very comfortable and quiet holiday cottage, which was an ideal base to explore the area. It had one of the most comfortable beds we have experienced in over 30 years of staying in holiday cottages! The owners were welcoming and friendly. When we next visit the area, we would, without hesitation, again stay in this cottage. If you are searching for somewhere to stay, stopping looking and book this cottage, you will not be disappointed!
