Old Converted School House Near Porthmadog | Ysgoldy

Two sitting rooms, the kitchen, utility room and WC are all located on the ground floor – it’s a great layout and perfect for a family or families with kids in the mix. The main sitting room is home to a lovely log burner which instantly gives it that warm and cosy feeling. A good size, it has lots of seating so room for everyone to congregate in the evenings. The second sitting room is more of a snug and certainly where the kids will migrate to watch films and play games.

The kitchen has a huge oak dining room table which takes centre stage – heavy and very rustic, it is a lovely piece of furniture. Slate floors and wooden units gives a modern feel and the book cases from the days it was a school is a lovely touch. The utility and bathroom are located off the back of the kitchen.

Upstairs, there are four bedrooms, sleeping seven. There are two doubles, a twin and a single. One of the double rooms has beautiful windows and a small ensuite shower room while the other is larger in size, with tall apex ceilings giving it lots of light. All the rooms are very simply decorated with splashes of different colour for each room, giving them individuality. There is a family bathroom which has a bath over shower, WC and washbasin.

Location

The cottage itself has a patio area which is perfect for dining outside during the summer months. Enclosed with a stone wall, with its lawn and gravel paths, it’s a lovely outside space and the surrounding trees help to give you privacy.

The cottage is on the outskirts of Tremadog – the hometown of Laurence Arabia would you believe! It’s a really lovely village with a couple of pubs with fantastic reputations for the food they offer as well as an award winning fish and chip shop – you’ll be spoilt for choice!

If you like climbing, then Tremadog is a real climbers paradise and you find a lot of choice within a relatively short distance. There is also a Osprey Wildlife Sanctuary you can visit in the village of Prentag itself. Set up by the local community, it works to protect the Glaslyn Valley Osprey’s.

Porthmadog is a lovely harbour town where you’ll find all the main food shops along with a high street full of independent shops. The harbour has a selection of restaurants and cafes and from here, a short 15 minute walk will bring you into the village of Borth a Gest where you’ll find beaches and a couple of traditional style cafes. Portmeirion Village is also just 10 minutes outside of Porthmadog and a great place to visit

In the other direction from the cottage, you will come to Beddgelert. A very popular village in the heart of Snowdonia. Beautiful rivers and walks to be had, it’s definitely not to be missed. If you are into adventure and outdoor sports, you could not be better placed to enjoy the activities on offer – gorge walking, climbing, walking, kayaking, white water rafting, canyoning, SUP etc are all readily available throughout the area from a number of different activity providers around the area.

You are 40 minutes from the foot of Snowdon, Fforest Coaster and Zip World and an hour from Adventure Parc Snowdonia and Coed Y Brenin. Caernarfon is only 30 minutes up the road. So as you can see you are well placed to take full advantage of seeing the area.
