Pet Friendly Holiday Cottage Near Beddgelert | Nanmor

This pet friendly holiday cottage near Beddgelert is a great example of a stone built traditional welsh farmhouse. Located in the stunning Glaslyn valley, the cottage is ideally located for guests wanting to explore both the rugged Snowdonia mountains and the beautiful sandy beaches of North Wales.

Turning off the Beddgelert to Prothmadog road, we continue up a private drive to the front door of Nanmor. On entering, we step left into the lounge. A large inglenook with the original oak lintel houses that all important log fire. Two leather sofas sit on a beautiful welsh slate floor looking out at the fantastic views to the front of the house.

The kitchen is back round to the right. Simple kitchen units with all the essentials included. An electric oven and hob, microwave, large fridge freezer and dishwasher are all there. A second spacious utility room houses a modern washing machine and tumble dryer. There’s also a convenient ground floor bathroom just of the utility room and access to a sunny rear courtyard.

From the kitchen we can continue through into the dining room. Be sure to duck your head, this entrance is quite low. The dining room beyond is a really nice space with white washed stonewalls and stable door leading to the courtyard to the side of the house.

We have to walk back through to the entrance hall to go upstairs. As with a lot of old houses the stairs have quite a narrow tread. Anyone with mobility difficulties should take care when descending and make good use of the sturdy handrail.

The bathroom is immediately to our right at the top of the stairs. It contains a nice white bathroom suite and shower cubicle on a wood laminate floor. Top of the stairs and turn left we come to a long corridor with three bedrooms leading off. One twin room and two double rooms. All the bedrooms have spectacular views over fields of sheep grazing and out towards the famous Glaslyn river.

There are many activities and attractions in the area. The Glaslyn Osprey centre is within walking distance to the cottage. Once there you might like to jump onto the fantastic narrow gauge Welsh Highland Steam Railway at nearby Pont Croesor. A short car journey will take you the medieval castle towns of Harlech to the south or Caernarfon to the north. Lovely cottage, great location, fantastic views. Comfortable cottage with nice outside space. Good position for both mountains and coast, Beddgelert a nice village with good pub, Saracens Head. Stayed for short break and enjoyed good weather. Communication with Dioni & owner good, as were directions etc. Only small negative, would benefit for more kitchen equipment especially if catering for six, larger pans, casserole dishes, serving bowls. Minor point as all other things provided inc soap, toilet rolls, foil, torches….. Would recommend.

  2. Irene Samuels says:

Lovely cottage with all we needed for a peaceful holiday.
We did some great walks within easy distance of the cottage.

  3. kath says:

We thought the cottage was perfect. So comfortable and in great location. We loved it and want to go back.
judt one comment. There needs to be an information pack on the cottage. It’s pretty standard

  4. Rae says:

Lovely cottage in beautiful surroundings and ideal location. Very well equipped, and a thoughtful welcome pack including flowers. I agree with other comments that an information pack would be very useful to help settle in quickly. Especially with practical details of how to work tv, heating, drier (ie. empty filter and water), supermarket locations, etc. Also, for dog owners, the fact that the property owns the adjacent fields which are fenced in and can be used for exercising dogs. And finally would be good if Dioni warned in advance that drinking water needs boiling so that could have come armed with bottled water (arrived gasping for water). Having said all that Dioni came up with yet another great property.

  5. Karen says:

The two of us and two dogs had great holiday and would return.

  6. Lesley Jarvis says:

A lovely cottage and although it is private and secluded it is within easy distance of Snowden, Porthmadog, etc. Beautiful views across the Glaslyn estuary and the cottage is well equipped with everything we needed. We will definitely stay here again.

  7. Keve says:

Very nice cottage in a stunning part of the country. Owners very quick to respond to any questions. Perfect base for a visit to Snowdonia.

  8. Vicky Rix says:

We had a wonderful holiday this year in this lovely cottage. It is a very comfortable place to stay with everything you need. Visited old childhood haunts of Criccieth, Harlech and Betws-y-coed. Ventured as far as Llandudno when the weather was wet but we were lucky to have three sunny days and mostly sunny afternoons. I had forgotten how beautiful the scenery is in north Wales. Diolch yn fawr and hopefully see you next year!

  9. Fam. Wolthuis says:

We have enjoyed our stay in this beautiful cottage. Perfectly located between beaches and mountains. A few small additions like some more dishes, cups, glasses and towels (we stayed with 6) would make it an even better place to stay. We would love to come again next year.

  10. Julia says:

A great cottage for a family in a quiet spot. Lovely location in between Porthmadog and Beddgelert. Great places to eat out in Beddgelert whilst away from hustle and bustle. Only difficulty was not being able to walk the dogs directly from the cottage.

    1. Gwion Llwyd says:

      Hi Julia
Thanks for your comment (and email). As suggested we’ll leave a note in the cottage pointing out that guests are more than welcome to use the miles of footpaths and bridleways that lead from the rear of the cottage. Sorry that this wasn’t more obvious during your stay.
      Gwion.

  11. Enjoyed our stay . Great area for walking and hill climbing . Tremendous scenery . As another guest stated the cottage could do with an info pack not just places to visit but useful numbers . ie Doctors , hospitals , dentist and owners details as well as restaurants and other eateries . Overall a really nice cottage

Hi Steve and Jackie – we are delighted that you enjoyed your holiday at Nanmor. On the Dioni website, there are information packs for each of the local areas that cover the information you were looking for: https://dioni.co.uk/snowdonia-information-packs/. I hope this will be of help should you be staying in an Dioni holiday cottage in the future. Many thanks, Emma.

    2. Michael Davis says:

A great week in the mountains, the cottage gave us a great home from home and the perfect place to relax. The cottage has everything you need including the peace and quiet.

  12. Stuart Williams says:

A lovely traditional cottage in spacious grounds and ideally placed to tackle Snowden and beyond.
Seemingly just refirbished (June 2015) the decor is nicely done. Just a few small additions (like an information pack!) will make it a great place to stay.
