Bwthyn Bach is a lovely little pet friendly self catering cottage near Barmouth on the outskirts of Dyffryn Ardudwy. Newly decorated and furnished to a high standard, the accommodation provides a perfect retreat for couples wanting to explore this part of rural Snowdonia. The open plan kitchen is well equipped with quality stainless steel appliances and has plenty of storage and worktop space. The breakfast bar provides a subtle divide between this area and the lounge. So whoever’s in charge of making tea can keep one eye on the ‘One Show’ whilst cooking. Comfortable leather sofa and flat screen digital TV in the lounge.
For a small cottage the bathroom is surprisingly generous and has a powerful shower but no bath. The bedroom next door is also very comfortable and includes a kingsize bed. With everything on the ground floor, access could not be easier.
Outside there’s a small patio area where you can sit and sip a glass of chilled white wine whilst enjoying the sea views. There also a larger shared garden area with even better views stretching out over Cardigan Bay.

Location
In the summer most people will visit this pet friendly self catering cottage near Barmouth because of the miles of sandy beaches. And there certainly worth the trip no matter what time of year you decide to stay. But this particular corner of Snowdonia also offers walkers a wealth of undiscovered bridleways and footpaths in some of the most beautiful scenery of the National Park. The mountains here offer a welcome alternative to the more heavily visited peaks to the north. You can walk the higher ridges here all day without bumping into another living sole. I’m not sure if there are many areas in the UK where that’s still true. There are two pubs in the village both serving food as well as a post office, small grocery store and garage. The larger towns of Barmouth and Harlech are 5 miles to the south and north respectively.

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay!! Cottage was clean and cosy, the owners were friendly and extremely helpful. So close to shops and multiple beaches nearby and the pooch loved every minute! Will absolutely be returning!
Just FABULOUS. Beautiful, relaxing accommodation. Everything you needed & more. Spotless. Hot tub a great treat every evening of our stay. Will certainly stay again. Recommend would certainly, but would rather keep this little gem to ourselves haha. It’s perfect a great place for exploring the beautiful area.
Fabulous owners nothing to much trouble. they work so hard & because of this they achieve perfection in our eyes. Many thanks. 🙂
Very warm and well equipped cottage, perfectly located and the cake upon arrival was a delicious surprise (plus there was fresh milk in the fridge)! Very dog friendly and the owners weren’t under your feet, as I’ve experienced at many other cottages. The cottage is a perfect base for exploring the beautiful nearby areas and Harlech Castle is also now dog friendly (although dogs are only allowed on the lower levels), so would definitely recommend a visit. Agree with a previous comment about the tv, as it was on the small side with some ghosting, plus I was disappointed that I couldn’t connect to the WIFI; that said, it wouldn’t stop me from visiting again because the amenities and location more than make up for it. Plus the booking process was very easy and I received a friendly reminder when the final balance was due. Thank you for a comfortable stay 🙂
Our second visit to the cottage and very enjoyable it was too. We had lovely weather and sunbathed at Llandanwg and Barmouth. We have been coming to the area for 40 years so know it well. A few more cups, glasses and crockery would be a good idea as would a bigger coffee pot. Otherwise the place is lovely for a couple and a dog!
Cottage was warm welcoming had everything you would need for a holiday. Met Bethan lovely lady and makes a great cake would def visit again. Frankie (the cocker spaniel) loved the stable door it was his window to the world and we loved our stay as much as him ❤️
A wonderful relaxing location with plenty of walks for our dogs; woodlands, beaches, open fields and public footpaths. The idyllic cottage had everything we needed and when you think ‘I’ve forgotten to bring….’ – the owners had already thought of it! – simple things like salt, iron, foil etc. The owners and their family were most welcoming and we will definitely be returning.
A little piece of heaven just outside Barmouth .Fantastic place for a holiday .The hot tub was amazing . Our dogs loved every minute also. Thank you , will see you next year xx
Just had a lovely relaxing week in the above cottage my first holiday in the U.K. For 20 years and I wasn’t disappointed a well equipped and furnished to a very high standard little property Bethan and Gary were lovely hosts the location was spot on look forward to returning again this time next year
Had the best time ever really made my birthday special and one to remember.
Bwythn Bach was one of the best places we have stayed in great location and the cottage itself was gorgeous. Be than really made us and our dog Freyja feel welcome and she makes the best lemon drizzle cake in Wales. Will definitely be returning and telling everyone about this place. Beautiful.oh and the hot tub…. icing in the cake.
We had a fantastic time at y buarth cottage. The cottage itself is fabulous and very clean and well kept. The bed was one of the most comfortable I’ve slept in and the place is lovely. The hot tub was amazing and the cherry on the cake for me.Overall cannot fault our stay and would recommend strongly we will most definitely be visiting again in the near future.
This is a lovely little cottage with lots of extras you wouldn’t expect, like salt n pepper, coffee n tea, kitchen roll home made cake fresh eggs and milk. It very modern and clean. Good wifi. There is a good beach within walking distance and if you dog like us it’s ideal. What I liked about it was the location as it was near to Barmouth, which was very busy being Easter but it was so peaceful away from the hustle and bustle. Then you had the hot tub to chill out.
We are going to book to go again this year.
Can not recommend it enough .
Had a lovely weekend, good location for walks and 5mins away from barmouth and harlech. Cottage was cosy and very well equipped, utensils and all the little touches were lovely and very much appreciated. Thanks.
We are just back from a fantastic week staying st this beautiful little cottage. Ideally situated for exploring such a lovely area. We can’t wait to return here next year.
The owners even left some home baking for our arrival. Fabulous cottage, fabulous holiday.
Absolutely fantastic!!!!
Our wee cottage is beautiful. The area is fab. The sunsets amazing. The weather has been so kind to us.
We can’t wait to return!!
We were very impressed with the quality of our accommodation and how well equipped the cottage was. Will certainly think about staying again ourselves or recommending this property to our friends and family.
Just returned from a week’s stay in this lovely converted cottage. We were provided with everything we needed and we couldn’t have asked for any cleaner, well-presented and comfortable accommodation. The location was perfect for our requirements and the dog loved his walks down the lanes. The horses will no doubt miss the carrots we fed them each day!! We would have no hesitation in recommending this delightful cottage and we hope to get back again before too long.
We really enjoyed our stay here, lovely and cosy and everything was provided. Can’t wait to come again.
Superb accommodation well placed position for that part of the coast.
We heartily recommend these cottages to everyone we know.
Cannot be faulted really.
We were also very lucky with the weather.
See you again soon.
DnD.
Very welcoming family. Lovely little touches to make stay very enjoyable and comfortable. Location ideal for our requirements. Definitely looking to rebook sometime very soon. Many thanks.
Perfect stay in this beautiful cottage. We spent 2 nights, loved the hot tub and setting. Gorgeous views from the shared garden. We will be returning ASAP.
The cottage was absolutely spot-on. Clean and well fitted out. I didn’t get chance to try the hot tub due to the weather! The surrounding area was stunning but I didn’t see enough of it due to the weather again! Gary and Bethan can’t do anything about that of course. All in all a relaxing break and I will return in the summer.
My boyfriend and I had a lovely stay in the cottage. Very homely, gorgeous decor and extremely comfortable. The hot tub just topped it off! Looking forward to coming back again next year!
A fabulous holiday cottage beautiful, owners lovely people,a delightful lemon cake eggs & milk upon arrival.
We will definetly be taking all our holidays here.Thank you diono,Bethan and Garry.
Lovely modern accommodation and very friendly owners. Garden and got tub lovely. Good base to explore surrounding areas. Only criticism would be that the bedroom was not big enough to put travel cot in unless room was reconfigured, it was probably too small for 2 dogs and a baby plus two adults. This said we coped for the week and had a lovely holiday
Ken Lorraine and Sheba, beautiful holiday, wonderful accommodation. Hospitality second to none. Beth And Gary very friendly and helpful. Drizzle cake eggs and milk tasty and most welcome. Can’t wait to book again.
Had a great week at Bwthyn-Bach. Thanks for the provisions on arrival, the duck eggs and the Lemon Drizzle Cake especially. Bethan, Garry and Family were very friendly and helpful, made it home from home. The Bach was very well equipped and comfortable, great to come back to after a day spent out walking over the hills at the back or down on the beach(plenty of choice), the hot tub is great too. Nice little pub just up the road, Barmouth with pubs, cafes and shops just a short drive away. All in all a great week many thanks. (Zorba had a great week too)
Thank you for the lovely stay, stayed for a week with 2 dogs, the cottage looked great and had everything and more we needed. The location was ideal with the beach and shop close by and to get on the road to go out and about. Thanks again and will be recommending it.
A thoroughly enjoyable stay. Superb accommodation, modern appliances and extremely clean.Friendly owners, great cake and lovely duck eggs for breakfast! Look forward to returning.
We really enjoyed our stay in Bwthyn-Bach cottage. It was so relaxing and peaceful! There was cake there when we arrived and it was just incredible. The place was well equipped and clean throughout – I was worried it would smell of pets but it didn’t. We made full use of the hot tub in the mornings and evenings which was just what the doctor ordered! I have recommended this cottage to friends. Thank you for a lovely stay.
Great little cottage, with the hot tub being a big plus.
The owners were very helpful. Would definitely stay there again.
Lovely place. Slightly smaller than the last one we stayed in (Bwthyn Clwyd??), but lovely, well equipped, cosy and quiet. LOVED the hot tub! Will be rebooking for October hopefully in the other one we haven’t stayed in (Bwthyn Tyld??)
Despite guests with a dog (of which my wife has extreme allergic reactions) staying and only leaving on the morning prior to our evening arrival, the place was immaculate and very thoroughly cleaned. Definitely be back for our 4th visit very soon!!
Hi

Lovely and warm and stunning location ! We would love to hear from you again regarding any special offers that are on with all your cottages !

We stayed for two nights last weekend at the lovely Bwthyn Bach cottage. The cottage was all we expected it to be & more. The cake & eggs were a nice touch left by the owners who we unfortunately did not get a chance to meet. The cottage has everything you could need & also access to the communal hot tub. We would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants a relaxing place to stay in a lovely part of North Wales.
fantastic cottage everything you needed good to find tea/coffee/milk and eggs and that lovely lemon drizzle cake great location and peaceful will be back next year
thank you bernard & lyn

The cottage was just what we needed – the hot tub is just what the doctor ordered!
Lovely views, walks in the mountains and along the beach – what more could we ask for? (nothing)
Absolutely perfect holiday – our dog Casper had a great time too!
Lovely cottage. Close to local amenities and beach .
Great walks. Lovely hot tub. Will be back soon.
Had a fabulous 4 night stay in this lovely cottage. Great walks to dunes and beach. Very friendly village. Will definitely be coming back.
We have just returned home after spending a lovely time in Bwthyn Bach. Our accommodation was very cosy and all the goodies were lovely – cake, eggs and milk, on our arrival. Can’t travel too far and so it was a great home from home and a welcoming change. Our doggie, Monty, gives his paw of approval. We all had a brilliant time. Can’t beat the scenery around Wales. Was a great base to explore.
Everyone was so friendly and accommodating. A big thank you from us all. Would highly recommend to anyone who wants peace, quiet and a cosy place to stay. Beautiful cottage!
Lovely cottage and lovely location.Partically liked and appreciated the little touches, eggs, cake, tea coffee and milk. Website nice and esy to use Thanks
Just got back from our three night stay in Bwthyn Bach – what a fantastic cottage is was with a lovely hot tub to unwind in the evening. Great location to nearby attractions – climbing Snowdon is a must and visit the Corris Mines exploration was just amazing.
Owners were very friendly and welcoming. Cake, eggs and milk was waiting for us in the cottage when we arrived – lovely touch.
Will definately return in the future.
Very comfortable two night stay in Bwthyn Bach.
Very cosy in the wild weather.
Lovely cake on arrival!
We booked this cottage last minute for a short break just before the bad weather hit and we were not disappointed! From the moment we arrived till we left everything was perfect. Perfect size for 2 people with modern amenities. Decorated lovely and was spotless clean throughout. In lovely area which is great for walks and not too far from the beautiful town of Barmouth. When we arrived we discovered that we had been left a welcome pack which included eggs, milk and a delicious lemon drizzle cake. If you are thinking about staying in this cottage or any of the other two you will not be disappointed, they are all stunning. Cant wait till we can return!!! 🙂
Ideal for our short break. Beautifully appointed, spotlessly clean and welcoming on arrival. The dog loved the nearby beach at Traeth Bennar just round the corner and it was very handy for the foothills of the Rhinogs. To be recommended.

Had a lovely holiday; very dog-friendly.
Perfect for what we were looking for. Will definitely be coming again!
Had an absolutely fantastic holiday. The cottage was better than a 5* hotel having everything you could wish for. The owners were very friendly and having milk, eggs, and lemon drizzle cake on our arrival was lovely. We were able to take our miniature schnauzer Oscar with us too which was an added bonus for us. With the patio area and furniture and the red hot sun every day it was better than being abroad!!!!. Would strongly recommend this cottage for a nice relaxing holiday in a lovely location.
Wonderful cottage, great hosts, lovely hot tub. Ideal location. Will definitely be back next year.
Would recommend this to anyone. Thanks again.
Would recommend this lovely cottage had a really nice stay. Was well decorated and well equipped. Also had the bonus off eggs, milk and a lovely cake on arrival. Thank You for a good Holiday.
The most enjoyable holiday we have had in 40 years, Cottage decoration & maintenance was pristine the location perfect and everywhere we visited we were greeted In a friendly & courteous manner. Most definitely will return. Thank You.
Lovely accommodation, lovely area, fantastic eggs and cake on arrival was a real bonus, we would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a get away.
The accommodation was spotless and well equipped. In an excellent position to explore Wales and ideal for us as we took our two dogs and were not far from the lovely beach. The fresh eggs, milk and home made lemon drizzle cake was a lovely touch n made you feel at home. Would definately love to come back again soon.
Lovely little cottage. Nicely decorated with everything you need. Great location and patio to sit out when the weather gets warmer. Great stay. Thank you
We’ve just had a wonderful few days at the cottage helped by the fact that the sun never went in!
Its in a great spot – within walking distance of a very nice quiet beach and within easy reach of lots of walking areas.
Cottage was very comfortable and cosy.
Very grateful for milk, eggs and lemon cake that were there when we arrived.
Wonderful welcome, very cosy and warm cottage for our winter stay.
Our first visit to this part of Wales and we couldn’t have chosen a better self catering cottage.
What a truly delightful little cottage Bwthyn-Bach is, with everything you could possibly need. It is imho 5 star accommodation!! Modern, spotlessly clean and cozy warm. Big thank you also to Bethan for making the absolutely scrumptious Lemon drizzle cake and for the eggs! We had the most amazing time and visited so many beautiful places. The area is full to the brim with old castles and glorious beaches, lakes, mountains, woodland walks etc … I could go on and on! We even did the climb up Snowdon! Would I recommend Bwthyn-Bach? Most definitely YES!!!
Just what you want for a romantic long weekend away from the kids. It was a home away from home without the noise, will defo be back.
Great cottage in a great location. Just what we wanted for a relaxing getaway. Would we go again? YES
A lovely welcoming Lemon-drizzle cake, some fresh layed eggs, a pint of milk and our tour guide Gary set us up for a wonderful holiday in a little cottage with everything plus owls that hoot at night.
Fi and I thank you Bethan, Gary and Gary’s Mum – sorry we thought we’d lost the key that night early on!
We spent a fantastic 5 days here …. An amazing property ideal for the two of us to have some quiet time away from the kids. The cottage is perfect for a couple with excellent fixtures and fittings. The owners were extremely nice & helpful …. Thanks for the cake.
The location is ideal for exploring the Snowdonia and surrounding area. For those Non-pet owners like ourselves who worry about the ‘lingering’ pet smell – there isn’t even the slightest hint of it.
I must also make a comment that booking with Dioni was very easy and a good experience and we are returning to the area later in the year with the family at one of Dioni’s larger properties
Thanks for a great experience
Small but perfectly formed. Ideal for couple who is looking for a quiet break. Good walk to the beach, short drive to Barmouth.
Lovely comfy bed, great shower and all mod cons in kitchen.
Our dog enjoyed it too!
Just back from a fabulous week at this amazing little cottage. It was so warm and cozy and the welcoming lovely cake milk and fresh eggs was a nice surprise. The weather was not so good but it did’nt stop us from going out and exploring the wonderful surroundings. We will definately be returning and already spreading the news of this jewel of a place. Best wishes with your ongoing projects. Regards Bernadette and Brian Commander.
Agree Brian’s rating above: 11 out of 10. We too will be Bach. And quite how do you manage to drill the ducks into marching in step and in time?
Best wishes
Phil Howard
I did sign the visitors book , and I gave the cottage on a scale of 1-10 (11). The weather was against us but other than that I could,nt fault it . My wife and I are considering returning next year, all being well.
Thanking you,
Brian Fleetwood.
We have just returned from a week’s stay at Bwthyn Bach and had a lovely time. The cottage is very well equipped and is beautifully decorated. Its in a great location and the owners are very helpful and welcoming. My only suggestion would be (if possible) to offer WiFi (for a fee) but then again maybe we just need to learn to really switch off from everything!
Would highly recommend staying here, we wanted a realxing week away in the country and that is exactly what we got.
We were well placed between Harlech and Barmouth for touring this lovely area, both the beautiful beaches and the lovely mountains just a short drive away.
The cottage had all we needed for the week, it was very comfortable and stylishly appointed and spotlessly clean, a delicous lemon drizzle cake, 6 home laid eggs and milk were kindly provided which was very welcome.
The owners were very friendly and helpful, we were so lucky with the weather so every day we toured around this lovely scenic part of Snowdonia or played fetch with our dog on the miles of sandy beaches.
And If you go down the tiny twisting lanes inland you will eventually get to a very picturesque lake deep in the mountains, well worth effort.
Immaculately furnished and spotlessly clean. Compact ( as described accurately in info provided ) but with hi spec fittings in bathroom and kitchen area. Eggs, milk, tea bags and cake are a welcome feature after a journey!
Heater on in advance- a thoughtful gesture – avoided the chill that older /stone properties sometimes greet you with- instead felt cosy and inviting.
Would THOROUGHLY RECOMMEND this accommodation.
Amazing little cottage, very warm and cosy. The perfect getaway retreat for any couple. To say it was ‘Self Catering’ we were surprised when we walked thru the door and found the furnishings and facilities equal to those of a 5 star hotel. Towels, toilettries, welcoming cake, farm fresh eggs laid within the last few days, tea, coffee, do i need to go on? Very clean in a well placed location, central to numerous activities, sights, tourist attractions and beach just minutes away by foot (if you turn right out the drive, unlike us who turned left…lol) the locals are also very friendly. We will deffinately be coming again and for a longer stay. For us this was a well needed 3day get away and the quality of the accommodation was superb and made our break alot more enjoyable. Thanks Bethan & Gary for creating a wonderful holiday home and your special little touches what makes Bwthyn Bach what it is TOP CLASS. xx
Wonderful cottage, brilliant location, high standard accommodation, would definitely book again !!!
ps the dog loved it too !!
We stayed at Bwthyn Bach for three nights with our dogs. It was just what we were after and the standard of the cottage exceeded expectations. We loved the fact that you supplied some tea, coffee and sugar although we bought our own. Things like cling film and foil were also supplied and kitchen roll which we didn’t pack but are essential when self-catering and preparing meals. My partner is a hopeless perfectionist when it comes to renovations and he was utterely impressed with the standard of workmanship with which the cottage had been renovated.
There was a great little lane where we could walk the dogs in a morning before breakfast and the location itself was perfect for getting to other well known places of Wales. We will be coming back to visit again soon.

We had a wonderful week staying at bwythyn Bach over the christmas period 2011, all of the above reviews apply. Bethan & Gary had decorated the cottage with small touches of Christmas, a little tree and lovely little lights on the windows, all very tasteful, the cottage itself is as other reviewers have said, beautiful, it is faultless, lovely eggs and cake and the makings of a cup of tea all ready for when you arrive, there are lovely fluffy white towels galore. I was a little concerned going for Christmas and wanting everything to be so lovely for christmas dinner etc, I could have saved myself a lot of stress, this cottage has everything you could possibly need, good quality saucepans, knives, serving and roasting dishes, glasses, graters, whisks…… etc etc, this gem of a place has it all. Don’t delay book your stay today! we will return, a lovely little hideaway. Thank you Bethan & Gary
We just spent a lovely, relaxing weekend in Bwthyn-Bach. What a wonderful little cottage, beautifully decorated and cosy. It was lovely to have the cake and the makings of a cuppa when we arrived so late on Friday evening. It was much appreciated. If there was such a thing as 6 start accomodation then this studio cottage would meet it easily. Looking forward to coming back.
We stayed at Bwthyn Bach for a few days at the end of September. It was such a lovely cottage to stay in. The cottage has been decorated to a really high standard and has everything you could possibly need for self catering. Gary and his family are really welcoming and we had a lovely welcome of fresh eggs and cake. The location of the cottage is perfect for exploring the area which is beautiful. There are the amazing Cardigan Bay minutes drive from the cottage and of course the area is full of beautiful walks. We did the Snowdon walk and also the Precipice Walk which was fantastic. We picked the best days at the end of September so could not fault our break. Thank you for a wonderful stay we will definitely be coming back!
We stayed at Bwthyn-bach in April, for a week. We were amazed at the sight of the cottage on the outside, and the inside was even better. With an amazing and cosy bedroom, bathroom and kitchen-living room, it felt like a mini-apartment, with all you need. Close to several locations where one can do activities, such as quad biking and kayaking, as well as visiting mount Snowdon and the lakes and rivers that surround it. We had an amazing stay, and would recommend it to anyone wanting to visit the countryside of Wales.
We had an enjoyable stay at Bwthyn-Bach, cottage very well presented, and Bethan and Garry have put a lot of work and personal touches into the cottage, especially the welcoming eggs and cake.
Good luck to them for their future projects. Area very good sandy beaches.
We actually stayed in Bwthyn-Clyd which is the companion cottage to Bwthyn-Bach.
But surroundings were superb- very familiar with local area so it was nice to have a great base to revisit old haunts! The cottages are excellently furnished and welcoming- along with a few Welcome items that are delicious! My wife especially thought the decor & fittings were top notch! I agree! Gary & Bethan too were welcoming hosts- and there when needed but not on top of you as some smaller let owners can be.
We have a very friendly black lab who was also welcomed at Bwthyn and without any fuss or issue (advised prior to booking of course). So pretty much spot on- TV could be ever so slightly bigger because as we know when it rains it really rains for hours! But this really is a minor point.
Thoroughly good value and good people and so well placed for either beach (5 mins in car), mountains (15 mins in car), Barmouth (10 mins in car) or Harlech (15 mins in car) or even further afield exploration.
We received a very warm welcome and had a lovely weekend in this quaint , very well equiped cottage. We have been visiting the area for 25 years and this property proved to be one of the nicest we have stayed in. Love the area and managed to get a fabulous walk in to Shell Island on this visit without encountering rain!
We took a short break at Bwthyn-Bach for our birthdays. The cottage was beautiful, kept to a very high standard indeed and equipped with everything you’d need. It had such a lovely relaxing feel to it. Bethan was brilliant (we were later arriving than we said we’d be!) and the fresh eggs and homemade cake was a nice touch. We didn’t want to leave! We’ve already sent off for another short break we loved it that much. A brilliant base for exploring North Wales. Thank you so much indeed.
I booked Bwthyn-Bach as a birthday present for my boyfriend. He loved it, as the weather wasn’t very nice we had to put the walk on hold (will do it in the summer) we went to see some castles instead. There are lots of beautiful castles around Gwynedd and the scenery is just to die for. We will be definitely returning next year to do the walk -))))
We loved the cottage, beautifully furnished, very warm, great facilities.
Thank you very much

My Mum and her husband had a lovely stay Bwthyn Bach as a special treat from me. They said the area was beautiful and the cottage was very comfy and well appointed – I only wish I could have gone with them! From my point of view the booking process was an absolute dream!
We just had a fantastic stay at Bwthyn-Bach. The owners, Bethan and Gary, are so welcoming and the cake that was waiting for us when we arrived was a brilliant bonus and delicious! The cottage is really well equipped and very clean and well kept. Its also very comfortable and was kept beautifully warm. Thanks again for a brilliant stay.
