The cottage is in the picturesque village of Llanbedrog, on the south side of the Llŷn peninsula. This lovely seaside village is loved for its splendid sandy beach – a long sheltered bay lined with colourful beach huts looking out to Cardigan Bay. The Llŷn is a mecca for anyone who loves mountains and the sea.

A traditional Welsh cottage, Marian dates back to the 18th century and was once home to the village blacksmith. Beautifully renovated, it has retained plenty of character and charm. Everything is spotless and beautifully presented.

Downstairs the accommodation is open plan, with a large living space and kitchen diner. There is a showstopper inglenook fireplace, flanked by a couple of invitingly plump sofas. A woodburning stove – and a good supply of logs – will keep you cosy if the temperature drops.

The kitchen comes with plenty of space to whip up your favourite holiday treats. It is fully equipped, including a wine cooler and Nespresso machine. There is a very decent range cooker, dishwasher and fridge freezer. The dining table seats three.

Upstairs there are two bedrooms – one single, one double. Cosy and restful, these rooms sit under the eaves but there is a decent amount of headroom. Both rooms come with wall mounted TV and Netflix. A shared family bathroom has a bath, walk in shower and heated towel rail.

Outside you’ll find a separate laundry room with a washing machine, tumble dryer and storage space for bikes and beach bags. There is a lovely private terrace with dining area and barbecue, and a fabulous hot tub. The garden gets plenty of sun and is ideal for al fresco food and drinks.

This pretty holiday cottage in the seaside village of Llanbedrog is ideal for a romantic seaside break. There are a couple of pubs and restaurants within easy walking distance, and spectacular tea, culture and cakes at the nearby Plas Glyn y Weddw art gallery and café. Head to nearby Abersoch to book in for surf, paddleboarding and some great places to shop and eat out.

You’ll find this pretty holiday cottage on the south side of the Llŷn peninsula, in the seaside village of Llanbedrog.

Llanbedrog is home to a real peach of a beach, with golden sheltered sands and a shallow bay to swim or paddle in. It is a great place for walkers to explore – you can follow the Wales Coastal Path up and over the headland to Abersoch, checking out the impressive Tin Man sculpture on your way. The views from the top of the headland are spectacular, taking in Snowdonia’s peaks, Cardigan Bay and St Tudwal’s Islands. If you prefer to walk on the sand, it’s less than a mile around the headland to Abersoch. But do check the tide timetables before you set off.

The seaside town of Pwllheli with its supermarkets, quaint shops and amenities is ten mins drive away. Abersoch is also close by (a five minute drive) with its surf shops, watersports centre, cafés and restaurants. There are some good little delis in Abersoch that will put together a very decent picnic feast if you prefer to eat out on the beach.

The Llŷn’s sandy beaches and sheltered bays are brilliant playgrounds for all sorts of watersports including kitesurfing, windsurfing, sailing, SUPing and surfing – but they’re also great for the more traditional seaside pursuits of paddling, swimming, rock pooling and sandcastling.

Back at the cottage, you’re a few minutes’ walk from the Oriel Plas Glyn y Weddw, a wonderful showcase for Welsh art, music and theatre. We recommend checking out what’s going on during your stay. If you fancy eating out, the friendly, family-run Aqua beach bar and restaurant is just a stone’s throw from your front door, and there are a couple of good pubs in the village.
