As you enter this typical two up two down stone country cottage the ground floor is split into a kitchen diner on your right and a spacious lounge on your left. The kitchen includes all the facilities you would expect including a dishwasher, large fridge freezer and washing machine. Pastel painted fitted units are topped with a rich solid wood worktop. This is mirrored by the reclaimed dining table with it’s newly polished oak top and matching hand made bench seat.

A natural slate floor, gently warmed by underfloor heating, continues through into the lounge. The emphasis on natural materials continues with an exposed stone inglenook with log burner. The large flat screen smart TV is a welcome nod to modern conveniences.

Upstairs we have one double and one twin room. The double room is surprisingly spacious for a country cottage. High vaulted ceilings helping to add to the sense of space. Adjacent dormer windows look out over farm fields and the mountains to the rear of the house and a beautiful church to the front. The twin room on the other side of the cottage is a little smaller but nicely furnished with a dark wood chest of drawers and matching beds. Small details like the ledge and brace doors, white washed stone wall and slate window sills accentuate the cozyness of the bedrooms

The adjoining bathroom has a large corner shower, wc and washbasin.

Location

The large and fully enclosed back garden backs onto farm fields to the rear of the cottage. Large mature shrubs shield guests from the quiet narrow country lane that winds its way through this part of the village. The lane is a favourite route for dog walkers who are always ready with a friendly hello and a bit of local gossip or information when quizzed.

There are two pubs in the village as well as a post office, caffe, well stocked grocery shop and award winning butchers. A short 10 minute drive south will bring you to the traditional and ever popular seaside town of Barmouth. 10 minutes to the North is the picturesque castle town of Harlech. Both towns play host to numerous holidaymakers during the summer months with their restaurants and bars.

Snowdonia is fast becoming the mecca for adventure activities. Everything from gorge walking to mountain biking to zip lining can be enjoyed in this part of North Wales. These new adventure sports are naturally, a great compliment to our traditional pastimes such as golf, hill walking and lazy afternoons on the beach.

  1. Tricia Trenoweth says:

Lovely cosy cottage with comfy beds and sofas. Really peaceful and great location, village and beach close by. Having small children a few plastic plates / cups would have been great, but otherwise a well equipped cottage.

  2. Carol Clarke says:

Very cosy cottage ideally located for the beach. Had a great week which was helped by lovely weather.

  3. Sharon Roberts says:

A lovely cottage to use as a base to visit the beach and surrounding countryside.
The welsh cakes and wine left were lovely but the lack of toilet roll and no washing up liquid or cloths was an issue when we first arrived.

  4. Niamh Simms says:

Lovely cottage, very clean and well equipped. Double bedroom is particularly large and comfortable. Loads to do and see in the area and beach is fantastic.

  5. Ben Cartwright says:

Dear Liz, thank you very much for your kind comments, I am glad you enjoyed the cottage. Apologies for the oven, it’s one that needs the clock to be set to work and I have had the same problem myself. There should be instructions in the cupboard to the right of the range in the kitchen. I will try and make the easier to find for future guests. Hope to see you again, Ben

  6. Liz Tunaley says:

We loved the cottage, it was so comfortable and well appointed, and thank you so much for the welcome hamper, such a nice touch. However, I had a little trouble operating the oven, some instructions would have been very useful. We would love to come back some time.

  7. Joanne parker says:

Absolutely beautiful cottage. We had the hottest week of the year, the only thing that spoilt it for us, was the old plastic outdoor table and 3 plastic chairs. Also a wobbly make shift bench with a broken whirly bird behind it.
We would have loved to have eaten out every night in the garden but the lack of an outside eating patio set prevented this.
I spent the week with next doors garden furniture envy. Such a shame because apart from that it’s the best cottage we’ve ever stayed in. Did find the lack of a wardrobe slightly strange to!
Otherwise the most perfect, peaceful cottage.

  8. Gareth/Rita says:

Lovely private cottage and great location. If you like walking and hate driving you can park up and forget your car for the week. Beaches are just super. Train stop close. Met owner – great guy. Double bed is lush .

  9. Margaret says:
