As you enter this typical two up two down stone country cottage the ground floor is split into a kitchen diner on your right and a spacious lounge on your left. The kitchen includes all the facilities you would expect including a dishwasher, large fridge freezer and washing machine. Pastel painted fitted units are topped with a rich solid wood worktop. This is mirrored by the reclaimed dining table with it’s newly polished oak top and matching hand made bench seat.

A natural slate floor, gently warmed by underfloor heating, continues through into the lounge. The emphasis on natural materials continues with an exposed stone inglenook with log burner. The large flat screen smart TV is a welcome nod to modern conveniences.

Upstairs we have one double and one twin room. The double room is surprisingly spacious for a country cottage. High vaulted ceilings helping to add to the sense of space. Adjacent dormer windows look out over farm fields and the mountains to the rear of the house and a beautiful church to the front. The twin room on the other side of the cottage is a little smaller but nicely furnished with a dark wood chest of drawers and matching beds. Small details like the ledge and brace doors, white washed stone wall and slate window sills accentuate the cozyness of the bedrooms

The adjoining bathroom has a large corner shower, wc and washbasin.

Location

The large and fully enclosed back garden backs onto farm fields to the rear of the cottage. Large mature shrubs shield guests from the quiet narrow country lane that winds its way through this part of the village. The lane is a favourite route for dog walkers who are always ready with a friendly hello and a bit of local gossip or information when quizzed.

There are two pubs in the village as well as a post office, caffe, well stocked grocery shop and award winning butchers. A short 10 minute drive south will bring you to the traditional and ever popular seaside town of Barmouth. 10 minutes to the North is the picturesque castle town of Harlech. Both towns play host to numerous holidaymakers during the summer months with their restaurants and bars.

Snowdonia is fast becoming the mecca for adventure activities. Everything from gorge walking to mountain biking to zip lining can be enjoyed in this part of North Wales. These new adventure sports are naturally, a great compliment to our traditional pastimes such as golf, hill walking and lazy afternoons on the beach.

We loved the cottage and the dogs had a fabulous time. The heating was more than adequate and we were extremely comfortable. Gorgeous fruit cake in the welcome hamper which was all very much appreciated. A lovely walk to the beach which took 20 minutes (gentle stroll) and then the dogs tired themselves out in the dunes. We’ll hopefully book to go again soon

The cottage overall was as described, the village quiet and central for exploring both north and south although Barmouth was disappointing. The local beach was extensive and great for our dog who enjoyed the space to both run and explore. The cottage photos did however give a look of more generous proportions that there actually was, the bedrooms were large and comfortable, the lounge smaller than expected and possibly because of the time of year quite dark. There were a couple of negatives, the starter pack for the log fire was missing, the kitchen could do with some new glasses and plates, again this was possibly a result of a long occupancy rate over the summer but we were disappointed with the cleanliness of the kitchen area around the cooker, the worktops were greasy and had not been leaned as were the storage shelves above. Despite these small niggles we would return again.

Beautiful cottage in a beautiful location! Ben was very helpful, we even got to sample the fruit from the trees in the garden, delicious . Good weather was a bonus ! We wouldn’t hesitate in booking again x

I had a great week at Tyn-Llan cottage with my Springer spaniel in late February.
I found the heating very efficient and had to turn it down, I didn’t need to use the wood burning fire. It was very cosy during some interesting winter weather.
I needed the owners assistance once and “Ben” immediately provided the advice I needed.
The WiFi was very good, the walls of the cottage are very thick which probably explains the lack of mobile phone reception unless your standing upstairs by the landing window.
I used the large Tesco at Porthmadog to stock up and the local supermarket/butchers for additional supplies.
      I would definitely return.

3 of us had a great week away in this lovely cottage. A wonderful quiet location with hills views from the back door. The butchers in the village spa shop is a must, also use the train which is just a few minutes walk away. Would definitely go again and probably take our dog next time!

  7. Chris says:

Lovely cottage in a great location and the enclosed garden was perfect for our 2 dogs.

  8. Lynn says:

We didn’t want to come home!
A tranquil cottage with a very comfortable bed and sofas and in a lovely setting. Having a local railway station was a bonus as we didn’t have to drive everywhere and could drink! This is particularly helpful as there is now only one local pub which unfortunately doesn’t do food.
It’s a great area for wildlife, saw our first ever badger on a walk down the lane, bats flying around the disused church and a variety of garden birds. Even spotted a Red Kite on one occasion flying high above!
Thank you Ben for staying in touch.

  9. Denise Davies says:

It was a lovely cottage. It certainly felt like home for our weeks stay.
We felt very comfortable from the moment we stepped inside. Thank you for the welcome package. It was much appreciated. We would definitely recommend it as a place to stay to go exploring North Wales.

Delightful cottage in a great location. We couldn’t have wished for better. We braved the storms and winds to go walking on the beach and exploring some of the areas places of historic interest. It was such a welcome pleasure to go back to a warm, cozy cottage. Our dog loved it too ! We’re already planning our next stay there.

  11. Anne says:

Beautiful cottage in an excellent location. Secure garden for dogs. In spite of the torrential rain and gale force winds we took daily walks on the beach and got very cold and wet. It was a joy to go back to the warm cozy cottage.
We certainly hope to visit again next year.
