Romantic One Bedroom Apartment Near Porthmadog |Brushings-Wern

Lots of character features of the original storeroom to the adjoining manor house remain and the new accommodation naturally benefits as a result. Features such as the high ceilings and Georgian windows provide a sense of light and space as well as evidence of the previous life of this lovely building. A reclaimed slate kitchen-worktop has been lovingly fashioned to match the slate floor of the original storeroom whilst modern kitchen appliances such as the induction hob and dishwasher sit comfortably alongside the beautiful glazed brickwork of the preceding era.

The adjoining bedroom includes a modern double bed as well as a small seating area to relax in. A modern central heating system and tasteful décor ensure guests are comfortable during their stay. The bathroom is surprisingly large for a one-bedroom apartment and includes a very generous contemporary shower cubicle and white bathroom suite.

The Brushing Rooms can be booked with the Larder and the Wood Store to sleep six guests in three separate apartments within the shared covered atrium area.

Guests are also encouraged to explore the grounds of the manor house. The well-manicured and expansive lawns to the East of the house are a great spot for picnics and relaxing on sunny afternoons. Some of the formal gardens beyond are overgrown now but the outline of the park, designed by the famous Thomas Mawson in 1901, is still very evident so a great place to wonder around.

Criccieth, 5 minutes to the west, is a lovely seaside town with a selection of excellent restaurants, curiosity shops and world famous ice cream. The larger harbor town of Porthmadog is 5 minutes to the east and has more cafes, restaurants and a larger supermarket. There are naturally lots of things to do in the area including miles of sandy coastline to discover and high peaked mountains to explore.

Just spent 2 weeks at Brushings Wern and had a lovely relaxing holiday. Weather could not have been better and the welcome we received from Marie-Ann and Paul made us feel at home. This area of Wales is beautiful with plenty to keep all ages busy if they wish or you can just wander round the grounds of Wern Manor and “chill out”. A tour of the Manor was like a step back in time and an education into how those and such as those used to live. Would not hesitate to recommend a stay here.

2nd visit to brushings-wern, perfect accomadation, nothing to fault, marie ann and paul are so friendly and helpful. surroundings are stunning, we have fallen in love with this place. can’t keep telling everyone how lovely this place is , or else it will be permanantly booked up, and we will miss out.hope to be back again in the springtime.

  3. Fiona Pointer says:

A really lovely week. Marie-Ann and Paul were very welcoming. I really enjoyed the tour round the Manor House fascinating. Brushings was just what I was looking for as it had everything I needed and I was able to bring my dog. Such a beautiful area with lots of places to see and plenty of walks plus a sandy beech nearby for dog walks. I would certainly go back again

  4. Lynn Anderson says:

The apartment was beautifully appointed and clean. The owners were very friendly and are working very hard on the restorations to the Manor House which along with the acres of land are spectacular. Only problem for us and I must say it was entirely our own fault as didn’t realise how small the apartment would be. It would be better described as a studio apparent. Ideal for a short stay.

brilliant time, brushings wern was superb, could not fault in any way.owners so friendly and helpful, so welcoming, we would certainly not hesitate to return, soon hopefully.

Thanks we had a nice break, weather could have been better. We loved having a tour of the house with the owners,it was fascinating.I wish I had booked one with the seating area in the living room as I had a bad cold and needed to relax, but we were very comfortable otherwise.A small gravy jug would have been useful, and a pyrex dish to use in the microwave

  7. Keith Lamley says:

Compact, but very well-finished accommodation, ideal as a base for seeing the wonderful surrounding area. Garden area and atrium would make this ideal for hiring all 3 apartments for a family get-together. The break was made extra special by the friendly owners who also took the time to show us round the manor and explain the works in progress. Fascinating history and a fantastic project.

  8. Bill & Hazel Shewan says:

A very pleasant place to spend a few days, made more interesting with the manor house restoration taking place by the delightful hosts and owners.
The three cottages sharing an atrium is a lovely idea.
The cottage is well equipped and very comfortable.

We had a very enjoyable stay in Brushings, it was cosy and welcoming and the owners have thought of everything to make their guests stay a happy and memorable one. We felt that is was ideal for our short break and would stay again. Marie-Ann gave us a tour of the Manor House and it was a real piece of history, we really hope they continue to restore this and would love to return and see their progression in the future. Location is great, we knew the area so knew it was quite centrally located to all the beautiful points of interest. Plenty of leaflets are in the apartment for those who don’t know what is out and about. To name but a few- Criccieth, Porthmadog, Tremadog, Ffestiniog railway, Beddgelert, Portmerion. Black Rock Sands is a huge beach that allows you to drive onto it for a small fee. From start to finish our break was perfect- thank you
