Seafront Holiday Cottage North Wales | Yr-Odyn

Seafront Holiday Cottage North Wales | Yr-Odyn

Renovated and furnished to a very high standard and surrounded by a large lawned garden, this seafront holiday cottage North Wales provides the perfect base from which to enjoy this unique and idyllic North Wales holiday location. Aberdesach is in a tiny little hamlet called on the northern edge of the Llyn Peninsula, about 5 miles south of Caernarfon. The spot is thankfully a bit of a secret hideaway so keep it under your hat for now.

Things to do in Pwllheli | Snowdonia Information Pack

Guests approach the cottage via a small footbridge over the river Desach before entering through a small sunny conservatory. A natural retreat in the morning if the sun’s out but the wind is still a bit too fresh. From here we enter a large kitchen diner. On the left a warming log fire sits within the original inglenook fireplace whilst straight ahead a handsome set of dining tables and chairs sits under some fabulous oil paintings painted by David, the owner of the cottage. (Some truly fantastic images.) To the right we have a sleek modern kitchen complete with a large gas fueled cooking range. A real treat for any eager chefs. A large free standing fridge freezer sits in the adjoining utility room as well as a useful Belfast sink and washer dryer.

From here we walk through some striking glass saloon doors into the adjoining lounge. The lounge is on the seaward side of the house. A large picture window looks west out onto the dramatic coastline barely 50m away from the property. A second picture window ensures the room is bathed in light throughout the day and luxurious seating and some tasteful decorative features make the space a pleasure to be in. A modern flame effect fire and flat screen TV are perfect companions once you’ve watched the sun dripping into a coppery sea.

We walk back through to the kitchen diner to get to the three bedrooms. First, we have the smaller twin bedroom. No steps to get to this point so perfect for anybody with mobility problems. The bathroom on the opposite side of the hallway has a walk in shower, wc and washbasin. A modern powerful boiler has been fitted in the utility room so plenty of hot water and heating is provided.

A couple of steps lead us to the two double bedrooms. Both are very spacious, both have king sized divan beds and both have impressively large mirrored wardrobes. The first bedroom has a shower over bath in the en-suite bathroom whilst the second has a walk in shower cubicle. Everything from the quality of the linen to the choice of bedside lamps down to the tiling in the bathroom is immaculate. P.S. The sea views from the second bedroom of this seafront holiday cottage North Wales are arguably even better as the room enjoys a slightly elevated position.

Location

As mentioned, Aberdesach is a bit of a secret, handed down from generation to generation of only a few groups of holidaymakers. And you can see why. This small stretch of unspoilt coastline is refreshingly free of any commercial exploitation. So you have to promise only to tell your closest friends and family if you come and stay with us here. As beautiful as the coastline is you should try and explore a bit further afield during your stay. The town of Caernarfon and it’s famous medieval castle is about 15 minutes to the north. Whilst the sailing harbour town of Pwllheli is about 15 minutes to the south. There are many small tourism businesses set up in the area. Craft outlets like the slate workshops at Indigo Jones and activity centres like Glasslyn go carting track and the Hafan indoor play center are all within a 15 minute drive. The mountains of Snowdonia are also a must do. Most people head up Snowdon from Llanberis on the far side of the mountain, some 20 mins away by car, but an assent from the nearer Rhyd-Ddu offers a path less travelled for experienced walkers. The nearby Clynnog mountain range is also very popular with keen walkers.

The Yr-Odyn owners also have a smaller property next door which can be booked in conjunction with the main house please follow this link to see Yr-Odyn-Bach

We stayed at Yr Odyn for two weeks Sept/Oct and had a great time. Whilst we were no doubt helped by some lovely weather this was still one of the best holidays we have had in the UK for some time.
The house is just perfect, very well finished with nice gardens and fitted to a high standard throughout.
We had a dog with us for which the mix of local walks and nearby mega beaches worked well. Some highlights were Dinas Dinlle (about 4 miles away), Ty Coch National trust pub and beach (25 minutes) the amazing Newborough Beach and ‘Island of the Blessed’ on Anglesey (40 minutes) but the list really just goes on and on.
We would definately go back to this house in a flash!

We stayed at Yr Odyn for a week and loved both the property and the area. The Llyn peninsula is stunning and relatively quiet for August compared to other popular tourist destinations. We didn’t travel too far as there was no need with the beautifil beach at Aberdesach and the comfortable and well proportioned property. The dogs especially enjoyed the beach and making friends with all the other local pooches. We have no hesitation in recommending this property to others – you will not regret it.

Perfectly located for day trips, sunsets and sunrises and spoilt by the luxurious standard of the cottage. Perfect getaway for us and we all loved roaming the gardens (including the dogs). We will be back.

Had a brilliant long weekend at Yr Odyn, the cottage is very luxurious with lots of space, really comfy beds, and 3 lovely bathrooms. The interior of the property has been finished to a high standard, and is a beautifully warm, comfortable and relaxing place to stay with nice artwork dotted around. Great sea and mountain views. Tranquility in abundance and yet only 30 minutes from most tourist attractions. I would highly recommend a visit here.

Had a wonderful week at Yr Odyn, the cottage is furnished to a high standard and is very luxurious. The grounds/garden are lovely my two german shepherds loved it and playing on the beach. The place is so nice we were happy to chill out there, it was hard to drag ourselves out to explore the area. We had the best weather of the summer, not a cloud in the sky every day, BBQ every evening. Would definitely like to return.

  10. Christine Nash says:

Six of us stayed at Yr Odyn for a week. Four adults and a six and two year old. Lovely house. Gorgeous garden. Stunning location. We loved being right on the beach. There is a lovely stream that comes out onto the beach that the children loved paddling in. The beach is perfect for an early morning swim. Lots to do near by also.

  11. Michelle Simmons says:
