Seafront Holiday Cottage North Wales | Yr-Odyn

Seafront Holiday Cottage North Wales | Yr-Odyn

Renovated and furnished to a very high standard and surrounded by a large lawned garden, this seafront holiday cottage North Wales provides the perfect base from which to enjoy this unique and idyllic North Wales holiday location. Aberdesach is in a tiny little hamlet called on the northern edge of the Llyn Peninsula, about 5 miles south of Caernarfon. The spot is thankfully a bit of a secret hideaway so keep it under your hat for now.

Things to do in Pwllheli | Snowdonia Information Pack

Guests approach the cottage via a small footbridge over the river Desach before entering through a small sunny conservatory. A natural retreat in the morning if the sun’s out but the wind is still a bit too fresh. From here we enter a large kitchen diner. On the left a warming log fire sits within the original inglenook fireplace whilst straight ahead a handsome set of dining tables and chairs sits under some fabulous oil paintings painted by David, the owner of the cottage. (Some truly fantastic images.) To the right we have a sleek modern kitchen complete with a large gas fueled cooking range. A real treat for any eager chefs. A large free standing fridge freezer sits in the adjoining utility room as well as a useful Belfast sink and washer dryer.

From here we walk through some striking glass saloon doors into the adjoining lounge. The lounge is on the seaward side of the house. A large picture window looks west out onto the dramatic coastline barely 50m away from the property. A second picture window ensures the room is bathed in light throughout the day and luxurious seating and some tasteful decorative features make the space a pleasure to be in. A modern flame effect fire and flat screen TV are perfect companions once you’ve watched the sun dripping into a coppery sea.

We walk back through to the kitchen diner to get to the three bedrooms. First, we have the smaller twin bedroom. No steps to get to this point so perfect for anybody with mobility problems. The bathroom on the opposite side of the hallway has a walk in shower, wc and washbasin. A modern powerful boiler has been fitted in the utility room so plenty of hot water and heating is provided.

A couple of steps lead us to the two double bedrooms. Both are very spacious, both have king sized divan beds and both have impressively large mirrored wardrobes. The first bedroom has a shower over bath in the en-suite bathroom whilst the second has a walk in shower cubicle. Everything from the quality of the linen to the choice of bedside lamps down to the tiling in the bathroom is immaculate. P.S. The sea views from the second bedroom of this seafront holiday cottage North Wales are arguably even better as the room enjoys a slightly elevated position.

As mentioned, Aberdesach is a bit of a secret, handed down from generation to generation of only a few groups of holidaymakers. And you can see why. This small stretch of unspoilt coastline is refreshingly free of any commercial exploitation. So you have to promise only to tell your closest friends and family if you come and stay with us here. As beautiful as the coastline is you should try and explore a bit further afield during your stay. The town of Caernarfon and it’s famous medieval castle is about 15 minutes to the north. Whilst the sailing harbour town of Pwllheli is about 15 minutes to the south. There are many small tourism businesses set up in the area. Craft outlets like the slate workshops at Indigo Jones and activity centres like Glasslyn go carting track and the Hafan indoor play center are all within a 15 minute drive. The mountains of Snowdonia are also a must do. Most people head up Snowdon from Llanberis on the far side of the mountain, some 20 mins away by car, but an assent from the nearer Rhyd-Ddu offers a path less travelled for experienced walkers. The nearby Clynnog mountain range is also very popular with keen walkers.

The Yr-Odyn owners also have a smaller property next door which can be booked in conjunction with the main house please follow this link to see Yr-Odyn-Bach

Spacious and comfortable cottage with nice amount of outdoor space. Suited our party of five, aged 9 to 93, plus two dogs.
Great views from the property and easy access to the beach. A relaxing holiday in lovely surroundings.

We have just come back from a stay at Yr Odyn and fell in love with the house and the gorgeous area. I really wish we had booked two weeks because there is so much to see in the area, and waking up to the sound of the sea every morning was just perfect. We were just starting to relax when we had to leave.

The house is so well equipped and everything is easy to use. I can’t think of anything that we wanted for. David and Iona were lovely to speak with and checked in with us to make sure everything was okay.

My little dog loved being so close to the beach and had the time of her life in the long evenings when the sun was setting. It is the perfect house in the perfect location and we would definitely book it again. The one thing that may be useful is a more enclosed garden for the dogs. My little one enjoyed doing a great escape to the beach a couple of times. Thankfully, there are no cars in that direction and she has amazing recall, but if I wanted to relax in the garden then she did need her long lead. But that’s it … other than that, it was sheer perfection and an amazing way to spend my 50th birthday.

Thank you David and Iona, and for the wine and chocolates.

  3. Stephanie and Patrick says:

We stayed two weeks in the Odyn and had a wonderfull time in Aberdesach. The Lynn peninsula exceeded our expectations big time! And also the house and the location were absolutely fabulous. Daantje, our dog, really enjoyed the beach and the spacious garden, so we’re sure she agrees with us. 😉

David and Iona make you feel very welcome and have plenty of non-documented places to visit. And a warm interest in art, of course ( you’ll find a number of paintings made by David in the house).

Even two weeks felt way to short… Yr-Odin and the Lynn peninsula makes you want to stay for the rest of summer!

Just got back from our second visit to Yr Odyn. We love this place on the beach, plenty of room for 8 of us, very well equipped and extremely comfortable, immaculately clean and finished to a high standard, fantastic log fire and beautiful views. Played golf at Nefyn, visited Anglesey and climbed Snowdon. Plenty to do and see within a short drive .

  8. Maxine Katz says:

Just back from lovely week at YR Odyn and missing it and area already! The cottage is very comfortable, spacious and well situated for the beach. Well equipped and very clean. When we go back (fully intend to ) we will take a radio as we are Radio 4 addicts and have it on while cooking etc and there is no radio in the kitchen! Excellent holiday and David, the owner, was very friendly when I met him briefly. He was keen to ensure all well and that he could be contacted if we had any concerns (there were none). We have booked Dioni properties on several occasions and they have all been of an excellent standard.

  9. Neal Cowgill says:

What a cracking week. 26 degrees most days, better than being abroad. Fantastic bungalow. In 20 years of uk self catering, the best accommodation we have stayed in. Immaculately finished and great layout. David ( the owner) is a lovely guy and just st stopped by for 10 minutes to ask if all was ok and to offer some tips. Saw porpoises from the garden and spent most of the time local and sunbathing in the last very gardens. Well done David and Iona☀️

  10. An absolutely fabulous stay. Yr Odin is beautiful, the views from the lounge make you feel as if the countryside is coming into the room. It is finished to a very high standard with every need catered for. Owners made us feel very welcome. Can’t wait to visit again

  11. Jane says:

My daughter and I had a lovely stay at Yr Odin and will definitely visit again. The house is in a superb position and is comfortable and welcoming. The birds never stopped singing during the day and the sun kept shining which was a bonus. Cannot wait until we return.

  12. Jodie says:
