Four Bedroom Sea Front Holiday Cottage in Aberdovey | Aweldyfi

Four Bedroom Sea Front Holiday Cottage in Aberdovey | Aweldyfi

My happy childhood holiday memories of sandy chips and wooden forks meant I really liked this four bedroom sea front holiday cottage in Aberdovey from the minute we arrived. The wooden forks have been replaced by blue plastic ones but my chips drenched in vinegar tasted every bit as good. Add the harbour sounds and fresh sea and we all got that real ‘holiday’ feeling straight away.

Four Bedroom Sea Front Holiday Cottage in Aberdovey | Aweldyfi

I should talk about the house. First of all, it’s in a great position. Right on the sea front and walking distance to the pub and shops. It’s a big 3 storey house, typical Victorian architecture I guess. The huge bay windows at the front meant we had a great view across the estuary and out to the distant Cambrian Mountains.

Inside the kitchen is well equipped and has large double doors opening onto the dining room which meant I didn’t feel left out when cooking breakfast. There’s a lounge next door and four bedrooms in total. Two of which are en-suite and plus another two bathrooms. Glenn and Rachel, the owners, take great care of the house so everything is newly decorated and gleaming. Rachel has great taste and has furnished the house to a really high standard. Glenn’s included all the necessary boys’ toys, LCD Digital TV, DVD, MP3 etc.

Location

Aberdyfi is a very fashionable town with some fantastic pubs and restaurants, as well as all the usual shops. The town, somehow, remains untarnished from the neon commercialism that has spoilt a lot of British seaside resorts. We enjoyed an afternoon crab fishing on the old wharf and we must have built hundreds of sand castles on what is a fantastically clean beach. I’m told that the yacht club is very active and that the links golf course is among the best in Wales. The more energetic out there also have plenty to chose from. Kite surfing, white water rafting, sea kayaking and mountain biking are all available. Tywyn and the famous Tal Y Llyn steam railway is 10 minutes to the north and the city of Aberystwyth is about 30 minutes to the south. So, in conclusion, if you decide to stay at Aweldyfi I’m confident you’ll have a nice time, but drop us an email or give us a ring if you have any questions.

  1. Mrs Maan says:

    Beautiful clean and comfortable house.
Well-equipped kitchen with all you could ask for.
Amazing location with views to the harbour.

  2. Helen says:

Lovely comfortable warm house, great location, views, well equipped kitchen, good modern bathrooms, Bedroons clean and comfortable but most perhaps could do with a bit more TLC, as too the lounge area and outside seating or lack of as we had to sit on the wall and steps. Wouldn’t put us off returning though.

  3. Steve TORRINGTON says:

We enjoyed a very happy week in Aweldyfi. The house is ideally situated for a family holiday, just a couple of minutes away from the beach and quayside. Sea views from all the rooms of the Aberdovey estuary are lovely and the house offers plenty of space. The small front garden is a real bonus … an ideal spot for an evening drink and watching the tide ebb and flow.

  4. Elizabeth Bowen says:

This was our second visit to Awel Dyfi as a family and the holiday was enjoyed by all.
The house is very convenient and well equipped and the provision of a highchair made life easier.
The views from all the windows are superb and it was even good to watch the rain travelling towards us over the bay. The weather was mixed but the children (and some of the braver adults) swam in the sea daily.
Will probably be back in a year or two.

  5. Stan Ruthven says:

Stopped many times in Aberdovey when we were younger and love the location. The house was just perfect for our needs, great location and a lot of thought has gone into the tasteful renovation, the kitchen is fantastic and well equipped, and it was a very comfortable stay, will be going back and cant recommend it enough, many thanks!

  6. Priest Family says:

What a great location for a break. Despite staying early in the season, the sun came out every day.The accommodation was fantastic – great views, and very comfortable. Like everyone else, we spent a lot of time looking out of the windows at the ever changing seascape. Aberdovey itself also proved to be a hit. We recommend the deli just along from the house for breakfast, and the Seabreeze Hotel for dinner. I suspect we will return!

  7. Pam Barrow says:

This was our second visit of the year to Awel Dyfi, and a thoroughly good time was had on both occasions. The facilities and location were wonderful, and made for very restful breaks. We will return!
P.S The October weather was glorious!

  8. Jon Fletcher says:

As others have said, house is exactly as shown in the photos. You never get tired of waking up to the constantly changing views of the estuary, and having an incredible beach and seafront so close to the house is great for kids. The surrounding area offers enough to fill ten holidays – from incredible cycling, to walks, to steam railway after railway after railway. Already looking forward to returning.

  9. Roz and Trevor says:

The house is every bit as good as the pictures. We would recommend a trip to Machynlleth for the market and for window shopping. Views are fantastic and Aberdovey seems to have its own micro-climate and was sunny when the surrounding area was raining. A good starting point for a lot of walks and good train and bus links.

  10. Mark Brown says:

Wonderful property with what must be the best views of the estuary. It is very comfortable and extremely well equipped – the only very minor complaint was that we couldn’t locate any oven gloves! If we return for another holiday in this area we would definitely look to stay here again.
