Glaslyn provides self catering for large groups near Beddgelert in North Wales. It is a beautiful place set within a large garden in what is a truly unique and wonderful location. Set over 2 holiday cottages within close proximity to each other, they sleep a total off 11 people (7 in the main house and 4 in the Lodge).

In the main house, a small entrance hall leads you into a large kitchen diner where you’ll find a fab kitchen table and benches. Marble worktops, a double oven, washing machine and induction hob all are all there. A second bathroom / utility room if off the kitchen.

Down a small hallway, a generously proportioned sitting room with two large comfortable sofas face onto a large modern TV. The log fire in the corner of the room is naturally a very welcome addition. The adjoining conservatory will be popular in the summer months; the large garden table and chairs allows guests to dine here and if you open the patio doors, you’ll have the sound of the river as a perfect musical backdrop to your meal!

There are four bedrooms upstairs, two doubles, one twin and a single, all beautifully furnished and decorated and include plenty of storage space. A central family bathroom includes a large bath as well as a separate shower cubicle, wc and washbasin.

The Lodge is just across the driveway. The ground floor has been split into two halves. One half for the kitchen diner and one half for the living area. A large opening connects the two. On the left, a simple but well equipped kitchen includes an electric oven and microwave plus all the usual utensils and kitchen equipment with a small dining table and four chairs.

There is a lovely log fire in the sitting room and a large modern TV hangs on the wall above. Two comfortable sofas flank the other two walls. This whole ground floor area is filled with a wonderful light in the morning as the sun rises over the far bank of the river.

To the rear of the lounge a doorway opens up onto a ground floor double bedroom. This is a smallish room and simply furnished with a modern oak framed bed. We return to the kitchen to access the ground floor bathroom. This includes a WC, washbasin and large shower cubicle with electric shower.

An open tread staircase takes up to the first floor bedroom. There is restricted headroom up here so more suitable for children. Although the two single beds are full sized so no real problem for more adventurous adults. This is a long thin room so the beds are located toe two toe either side of the staircase.

Glaslyn is located in a truly unique and wonderful setting. A large garden and lawns run down to a private riverbank. (This will naturally mean that toddlers will have to be supervised at all times.) A wooded area on the opposite bank filled with wildlife helps create a perfect quiet idyll for lazy afternoon picnics or early morning fishing sessions.

A lovely footpath will lead you up along the river to the village of Beddgelert about 1.5 miles away. The village has long been popular with holiday makers to the area and includes a couple of nice pubs, restaurant, craft shops and famous ice cream parlour. The village also acts as a base for tourists wanting to catch the narrow gauge steam train or climb nearby Snowdon.

The larger harbour town of Porthmadog is some 10 minutes away by car and the castle town of Caernarfon is about 30 minutes away. With mountains, castles, beaches and adventure centres also within easy reach there shouldn’t be any problems with things to do during your stay.
