The cottage was lovely, amazing views and so peaceful. The cottage had everything we needed and felt so homely. Yes it’s a bit of a maze to get there (we arrived in the dark which made it more interesting) but it was worth it. We will definitely be visiting there again.

Had a wonderful time with family, this has been the second time we came here and not dissapointed at all. Though we felt it was quite warm and things would have been perfect if fan was available on request. Nevertheless everything was upto standards and we had a great time!

Stunning location, and beautifully restored cottage. Suggest you read above comments re directions on reaching the cottage – not entirely clear and cottage name changes from Coed y Moel to Coed y Foel adding to our confusion. However other that this highly recommended.

Lovely cottage in a beautiful location. Not easy to find but once there well worth the trouble! A shower in the bath in the second bedroom would be better than a hand held shower but the existing arrangement is okay.
Excellent amenities and the cottage is very well maintained.

As we drove along from Barmouth to Coed-y-Moel the views were breathtaking with lots of wows as we passed along the way. We passed through the farm yard with not too much trouble and continued along a track towards Coed-Y-Moel.Just when we thought there were no more wows to be had we passed over the brink of a small hill and there was the most fantastic view to the valley below with the magnificent Cadri Idris rising in the background.Tucked neatly in the side of the hill was a pretty stone cottage which was to be our home for the next week, how wonderful, we couldn’t believe it. Once inside the cottage we were equally pleased. The cottage was very clean and tastefully decorated. The furniture was of good quality and although with a modern touch the rooms still kept their charecter and the whole place had a lovely feel.We particularly liked the kitchen, it worked well for cooking up some tasty evening meals. The bathroom had a lovely deep bath and there was plenty of hot water too, a real luxury after a day out cycling. The weather was good for October so we were fortunate to be able to sit outside most evenings and gaze in amazement at the wonderful views from the garden and watch the ever changing face of Cadri Idris as it changed its mood in response to the passing clouds and setting sun. There were Iots of interesting birds to be seen as well and best of all were the close views we had of the red kite and hen harriers. There are plenty of lovely walks straight from the cottage and it was great to be able to abandon the car and spend a couple of the days in complete seclusion.
We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday, Coed-y-Moel is a truely special holiday home
and the perfect place to escape, unwind and relax.

If your looking for total escape from everything this is the cottage for you. It’s 5* through out with the most amazing views Wales had to offer just by opening the door. My wife and I had a lovely week hear and didn’t want to leave. It was a shame they don’t allow dogs as our small dog would have loved it.

We have absolutely loved our first holiday in North Wales and feel that we couldn’t have chosen a better cottage.Coed-Y-Moel has been a perfectly peaceful haven, surrounded by scenery that takes your breath away!
The cottage is well appointed, is very comfortable and has been lovingly restored by the owner, Robert Evans, who lives on the farm nearby.
It has been a joy to wake up every morning to nothing but the sound of birds, sheep and the trickling of water from the nearby stream. You could easily spend a week walking in the hills surrounding the cottage yet, equally, use the cottage as a base for other pursuits as there is so much to do in the area.
Highlights for us include a visit to Harlech Castle, mountain biking at Coed-Y-Brenin, cycling the Mawddach Trail and stand-up paddle boarding at Plas-Y-Brenin.
North Wales offers so much for all ages. This has been our first trip to the area but it will certainly not be our last!

We found the whole experience of booking with Dioni very easy and informative. Your photos and videos of this cottage helped with our decision making and they didn’t disappoint. The perfect peaceful cottage, a short drive to Cadair Idris and not too far from Snowdon. We hiked both and even had good enough weather to sunbathe on Barmouth beach.

No wi-fi, which we thought was a good thing. A fair way down a winding single track road to get to the cottage, but thats the price you pay for such a magical location!

Thoroughly recommended, would love to stay again.

Enjoyed our stay at Coed-y-Moel. The cottage was lovely and just how it was advertised. Spotlessly clean and tidy with your every need thought of including games & dvds for when it rained and there was only football on the tv!! The views were spectacular and we would have loved to have sat outside and admired the scenery but the weather did not allow for it unfortunately. Loved watching the rabbit family (Mum, Dad & 2 babies) that had made their home under the rocks on the driveway. The lane up to the cottage was a challenge but we got used to it by the end of the week. We would love to go back and experience the peace and quiet once again hopefully with better weather next time. Thank you for sharing your little part of Wales with us.

This is a lovely cottage in the middle of the Welsh countryside yet only 10 minutes away from Barmouth. The cottage was spotlessly clean and of a very high standard, modern in outlook but with the exposed wooden beams showing its heritage. It was wonderful to have the doors and velux windows open to hear the wildlife, including our morning visitor the cuckoo, and feel like we were miles away from city life. I would thoroughly recommend this cottage if you want to get away from it all but want the comforts that this superb cottage brings. We will definitely be going back. 10/10.

We spent a long time looking or cottages in either the Lake District or Snowdonia and wow what a find! The objective for my wife and I was to find somewhere with breathtaking views and in a remote location but with a modern interior. Coed y Foel ticked all the boxes and then some.

It was relatively easy to find and the views were out of this world. We had an extremely relaxing time and made good use of the log burner and the logs. The kitchen was great too so we made full use of it and cooked some great meals. The cottage really did have everything we needed. No wifi and no phone signal was a compete bonus and to be disconnected from the world for a week was bliss. It’s possible to get signal at the top of the driveway though so if we needed to make a call or download some emails from time to time this was possible.

I couldn’t believe how well the cottage has ben refurbished, the quality really is stunning. Even though it was just my wife and I staying there it would sleep 6 very comfortably. I really can’t emphasise the attention to detail they’ve shown inside and the cottage. It is beautiful inside and out and a perfect place to explore the amazing scenery. Total darkness and night and amazing stars. We enjoyed habit watching from the cottage and the field of sheep surrounding the cottage.

If you are going in winter consider how you might navigate the 2 mile single track road back down to Barmouth if it’s snowing or icy. We left slightly early as it started to snow, we were concerned about getting down with out a 4×4.

Overall this was an amazing week and we couldn’t have found a better cottage. Thank you!

Wonderful location, beauiful cosy cottage the week went far to quickly.

Lovely cosy & comfortable cottage in a wonderfully peaceful and secluded location. Views ever changing in the light and a real sense of getting away from it all. Getting in and out was a bit of an adventure but added to the overall experience. Husband and son are 6″2 plus so had a couple of incidents with the two beams in the main living area but mastered after a couple of days! Great weather for the end of October and would definately recommend on to friends and family. Thank you!

Had a fantastic week in October – the weather was fabulous, with only a gentle breeze and no rain. The cottage is absolutely fantastic – couldn’t fault anything. The location is fairly remote, extremely peaceful with only the cows, the bull, the sheep and the rabbits. The views from the cottage were gorgeous especially first light and evening light.
We went with the intention of exploring the area and to take landscape photos and we were not disappointed.
Some great places to eat in Barmouth – while the Last Inn is good, don’t be afraid to try the Captain’s Table. The food was even better there and to be honest was on par, if not slightly cheaper than the Last Inn.
We highly recommend staying here if you want a countryside break, do photography, walking or outdoor activities.

This wonderful cottage in a lovely location, remote enough to feel a sense of calm and well being among the hills and mountains and it also offers opportunities to explore the mountains from your door step, yet its a short ten minute drive to the shops and restaurant’s of Barmouth I would certainly recommend it

What a stunning location! We loved the remote aspect, idyllic landscape and peacefulness of the property. Accommodation was spacious for our family of 6 – plenty of room for the boys, plus the added bonus that their bedrooms and bathroom were almost separate to ours! Good quality facilities.
We enjoyed walks in the surrounding areas and found some really good beaches. Only one tiny criticism would be that the velux windows in two of the bedrooms do not have blinds, so can lead to an early awakening. This does not detract from a wonderful stay in such a fabulous property in a beautiful part of Wales.

What a great stay. The cottage was as described, secluded and luxurious. The weather was glorious; the grandchildren especially loved the drive up from the main road, the views and the wildlife were amazing. Highly recommended.

A perfect cottage in a perfect location. Spent a lovely weekend celebrating my husbands 50th Birthday. The cottage was very clean and had everything you needed. Would love to return again but for longer next time.

We found Coed Y Moel to be comfortable, cosy and welcoming for our family Easter break. The actual location was amazing, remote and serene away from the madding crowds, yet in reality only 5 minutes drive from the centre of Barmouth. The scenery, especially the “panoramic walk” was stunning as was the 18 mile return bike ride from Dolleglau to Barmouth up the Mawdach Estuary. A fabulous location highly recommended!

The cottage is beautifully finished to a wonderful standard.
Very well equipped with a fantastic bathroom, comfortable living room, and brilliant utility room for wet gear and boots!
The log burner is a treat after being out walking or cycling all day.
Rob is a lovely friendly and welcoming host.
We cannot recommend this highly enough.
Such a view, location and perfect cottage are a lucky find.
We cannot wait to return soon.

This was our first visit to Wales, and Coed y Moel did not disappoint us. The photos online are spot on in terms of providing an accurate look at this lovely vacation home. You cannot tire of the views. Tall people do need to beware, as the beams, especially in the second floor master bedroom are rather low, but add to the charm of this home. We hung a scarf over the beam going into the bedroom as a reminder to duck, especially for any middle of the night visits. We enjoyed the fact the house was a bit off the beaten path. I would have to agree you want to have rubber mats in your car, as you will be trekking mud and sheep deposits with you as you enter/leave the premises…but again, that so adds to the charm of the area. The village of Barmouth is lovely and I would recommend a long walk along the beach and also on the railroad bridge. The views of the estuary are breathtaking. Dinner at the Old Inn is also a must. We too had some issues finding the place, but eventually got headed in the right direction. It is a romantic, lovely, spacious, and cozy place to spend a few nights. Four nights was just not quite enough; I would have loved to stay longer, especially if the weather had been better, as I was hoping to find more time to sit at the outdoor tables and take in the sights. Unfortunately, the weather was not too conducive for that. I would definitely consider going back to Coed y Moel – lovely, cozy, modern, charming, clean, and very reasonably priced.

A Gem. Spectacular mountain setting and real quality conversion. Great sized rooms, luxurious bathrooms, real wood fittings, tasteful décor. Would recommend. Takes about 10 min up a very steep track to get there from Barmouth – but worth it – may be a problem in snow without 4 wheel drive. Bumped into the owner – very chatty and helpful. stunning easy panoramic walk 5 min down the track. Lovely terrace area to enjoy the surroundings. Go and enjoy!

Coed-y-Moel ticked every single one of my boxes: Off the beaten track (you can’t see a single light at night!), but less than a 15 minute drive to Barmouth’s restaurants and grocery store, spectacular views, beautiful cottage with every imaginable mod con (bar wifi, but who needs that on holiday?), the best equipped utility/boot room I’ve ever come across.

The renovation of this cottage is nothing short of brilliant. However, tall people be warned, some of the beautiful, structural beams and door frames are on the low side.

If you want your peace and tranquillity in the middle of stunning scenery and with every comfort, you’ll be hard pressed to find anything better than this wonderful place.

The cottage was really lovely! It was a great pleasure to meet Robert (the owner). We will for sure come back to Wales, it was great.

An utterly delightful cottage in an absolutely beautiful, peaceful ,majestic setting.
Just a few minutes´ walk away, there´s even a lovely secluded waterfall – it really felt as though it was ours !
The owners are completely unobtrusive. However, if you do happen to bump into them, they are really lovely and very helpful.
All ´n all, a truly special place for a holiday or break. But you’ll definitely wish you could stay longer !

Just returned from a 7 night stay with my family. Beautiful cottage, spotlessly clean and lovely interior. Thanks to the previous comment, finding the cottage was slightly easier than might have been. Bottle of wine on arrival was a nice touch. Bistro Bermo and the Harbour side fish and chip shop were worth a visit! Nice big Co-op in Barmouth where you can get pretty much everything you need. Overall, highly recommended! 5*.

Just returned from a 3-night stay and this cottage is fantastic. It has been beautifully restored, is extremely well appointed and very peaceful. The views are stunning and there are numerous walks available right outside your front door!! The sheep are very welcoming and we miss their melodic ba-a-a-ahs in the morning! We had a bit of difficulty finding the cottage once we arrived at the farm – the secret is to go through the double iron gates, turn right just past thehuge steel barn, follow the track round to the right (past conifer trees on the right) then follow the track through two more gates . . . the cottage and views which await you are breathtaking!! We will definitely be recommending this wonderful cottage to our family and friends. PS – The complimentary bottle of wine was a very nice touch!

A lovely, well-appointed cottage in a beautiful and peaceful location. The views from the cottage and from the road leading to it are stunning. The only neighbour was an occasional visiting hare! The perfect place to unwind and use as a base to explore the surrounding countryside. Robert made us very welcome and we would certainly return.

First time to Barmouth and what a wonderful place to visit. Beautiful views surrounding this stunning cottage. Able to get around with reasonable ease ( with the aid of a car) to explore further afield. Thankyou to Robert for towing us out of a muddy field ha ha. If you want peace and quiet, stunning scenery, walking and enjoy good local food then this cottage is for you. Wellies essential in winter.

Stayed here for 2 nights over valentines as a surprise for my girlfriend (fiancé now!) the cottage was absolutely gorgeous, modern furnished but with old style feel due to the log burner and timber beams throughout! We live in Wales and appreciate the scenery at home but the views from the cottage are awesome, such a romantic and peacefull place. Highly recommended to all ages! Only problem was having to leave at the end of our stay! A big thank you to Robert and family! We will be returning in the future!

Stayed over Christmas and very impressed with the cottage. All very high spec and attention to detail was lovely.
Arrived and found a Christmas tree and small tastefull decorations around the cottage which made the whole place very Christmassy.
To wake up on Christmas day and find snow top mountains across the valley and to light the wood burner in this very cosy cottage was perfect.

We have stayed in this cottage for 2 nights and wish we could have stayed forever, it had everything, it had a very warm cosy feel to this place and all of the cottage inside and out was spotless. We cannot fault this, the views were amazing in all directions, it was secluded but not remote. Would highly recommend this for a romantic getaways. This cottage was superbly finished through out, the best thing for us though was the inglenook fire place with the log burner was very welcoming. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

We have just returned from an amazing 3 nights, only wish it was longer. Beautifully decorated to a high standard throughout. The views are stunning. We stayed here with our 2 year old and 6 month old, it was perfect and so safe for them. just want to say Thankyou so much, a real gem. Can’t compliment enough.

Wow what a place. If it’s seclusion, romance & spectacular views you want then this is the place. Two tips, wear wellies & have rubber mats in the car. The farm has lots of sheep and cows & you will have to open several gates to get to the cottage. Need we say anymore? This only adds to the experience. Also we need to add when you bear left at the barn you have the option to follow the track ahead or to the right. Take the track to the right. This wasn’t in the directions or signposted and we spent a good hour and nearly got stuck trying to find the cottage. All in all 10 out of 10. The owner was fanatstic and so was the complimenatry wine. Thanks guys. We will be back and we loved seeing the before and after pictures of the renovation. We will be back.x

Having been visiting Barmouth for 40yrs it never disapoints.The cottage is beautiful and the surroundings are breathtaking,I was lucky enough to stay there for 2days and had a great time,will be returning for longer nxt time.
