Stone Cottage Within Morfa Harlech Nature Reserve | 3-Ty-Gwyn

3-Ty-Gwyn is a cute stone cottage within the Morfa Harlech Nature Reserve. Colourful and homely, it also had the advantage of some great views of the estuary and mountains. Within easy distance of Harlech and Porthmadog, it is a lovely place to relax and get away from it all.

With the added comfort of a wood burner and the plush sofas, the sitting room is certainly a place you will all come together at the end of a hard day in the mountains for a bit of rest and relaxation. Directly opposite is a separate dining room; ideal for enjoying a home cooked evening meal with your friends or family.

The bright and colourful kitchen is delightful and won’t fail to brighten up your spirits when making the morning coffee. With all the mod cons you would expect, there is everything you need and a separate utility room off the kitchen is ideal for managing the washing from days on the beach, in the mountains etc.

Upstairs are two double bedrooms and one single. Again, keeping in line with the rest of the house, each one comfortable, bright and airy with distressed wooden floorboards, adding to the country cottage feel. The family bathroom is also on this floor, which is home to a shower over bath arrangement, WC and washbasin – all modern with a slate tiled floor.

Location

3-Ty-Gwyn is a stone’s throw away from direct views of the famous Portmeirion; very special indeed. A 5 minute drive to the south will bring you to Harlech which is home to the Castle, an incredible beach and a good selection of cafes, restaurants and gift shops. Porthmadog, a bigger town is 10 mins north.

This part of Snowdonia is a great place to stay for exploring other parts of the area; the Llyn Peninsula is only 30 mins away heading west and 30 – 40 mins east will take you into the heart of the mountains where there are countless things to do and beautiful towns to visit.

Alongside the traditional past times of walking, climbing and beach days that the area is famous for, the last few years have seen the introduction to some of the world’s best adventure activities including Zipworld and Surf Snowdonia. The mountain biking options are amazing with the award winning trails at Coed Y Brenin within an hours drive.

A plethora of culture and  history is on your doorstep with castles, Portmeirion Village, art galleries, gardens and lots of local crafts. There really is something for everyone.

Lovely cosy cottage in beautiful location. Stunning views across estuary to Snowdon. Lots to do. Kids loved the climbing wall and swimming pool in Harlech on wet days and Bounce Below at slate caverns.Cycling and walking a plenty within half hour drives in all directions. Walking to Beddgelert from Pont Aberglaslyn along river was lovely. Also enjoyed Ffestiniog railway.
Plenty of hot water and good heating which helped us dry out our wet clothes on occasions. We would definitely return here.

Comfortable cottage in rural North Wales. Nice garden, lovely views across the estuary to portmeirion. Well located Harlech sandy beach & Castle, and 30 mins drive to Snowdonia for walks.

  4. Joanne says:

A lovely cottage in a beautiful location. We loved the walk down to the estuary and the view towards Portmeirion. Lots of places to visit nearby, fantastic beaches and beautiful countryside. Would recommend a trip on the spectacular Ffestiniog Railway. The only thing we would have changed was the weather!

  5. STUART BROWN says:

Lovely cottage in very quiet setting. Nice to walk to the estuary and headland without having to go by car. Cottage well equipped for 4 people but no fifth chair in lounge. Welcome pack was very generous. It is evident that the owners care for both the cottage and for their guests.

Whilst we had warm weather if it rains (as it often does in Wales) there may be difficulty in drying out clothes – a tumble dryer instead of a dishwasher would be a better idea in my opinion.

  6. Stephen says:

This was a lovely, traditional, cosy cottage in a beautiful, peaceful location. It is ideally placed to visit the lovely beaches of the Lynn peninsula and the outstanding natural beauty of Snowdonia National Park. One slight downside for me was occasionally forgetting to ‘duck’ when moving from the kitchen into the living room. Being over 5ft 2 sometimes had its disadvantages.

  7. Alison says:

This comfortable, cosy cottage is located in a beautiful, peaceful location on the edge of a nature reserve. The cottage is really well equipped and maintained and has a lovely garden. Its a superb base from which to explore the walks, beaches and mountains in the area. Highly recommended!

  11. Peter French says:

Lovely cottage, nicely presented and had all that we needed including a pretty little garden which was great for the children to play in when we were not strolling along the water’s edge, at low tide, looking at the wildlife.

  12. David says:
