Three Bedroom Pet Friendly Holiday Cottage in Harlech | Mehefin

The spacious lounge includes a large picture window overlooking a terraced front garden full of wildlife. The indispensable large flat screen TV sits in the corner while a modern wall mounted fire provides a natural focal point in the evening.

A lovely archway leads us into the adjoining kitchen diner. Solid wood fitted kitchen units houses all the essential appliances you’d expect, including a modern electric oven with gas hob, dishwasher and fridge freezer. (The washing machine is in the summerhouse in the back garden.) A simple dining table and chairs sits in front of a set of French doors leading out to the large rear garden of the cottage.

All three bedrooms are beautifully decorated. The largest of which has a kingsized bed and lots of fitted wardrobes and cupboards. It also benefits from a lavish en-suite bathroom complete with spa bath, powerful overhead shower, wc and washbasin. The other two bedrooms are twins. Again, both bedrooms are beautifully appointed and share a second bathroom with a large walk in shower, wc and washbasin.

Location

The cottage benefits from a large front garden and an even larger and private back garden. A small brook at the back of the garden is all that separates the cottage from a woodland area that stretches up behind the house. So, as you can imagine, the back garden is often filled with wildlife, squirrels, badgers and lots of different woodland birds making regular appearances.

Harlech itself is a lovely little town. The world famous castle is a must see of course and is only a short walk from the cottage. But there are a couple of really nice cafes in town too, a couple of pubs and a couple of restaurants to choose from. Again, all walking distance from the house. The beach is another natural draw for many of our guests. A beautiful sandy coastline that lines this part of the wonderful Cambrian Bay must be among the cleanest and most picturesque shorelines in the UK.

The larger harbour town of Porthmadog is about 20 minutes to the North while the ever-popular seaside resort of Barmouth is about 15 minutes to the south. Mount Snowdon is about 30 minutes away in the car but I would encourage guests to discover the less well-trodden hills and mountains that rise up just behind the cottage.

  2. Jodie Pritchard says:

Fabulous place to stay. I live in Harlech but had lots of friends visiting the area. Mehefin was perfect – just down the road from me and a really well set up place to stay. I will definitely be both recommending and using Mehefin again – Diolch yn fawr

  3. Bob and Marilyn Fordham says:

A very well equipped and maintained holiday bungalow. The welcome hamper was a kind and useful thought.
We thoroughly enjoyed our week in a beautiful part of Wales, with plenty of things to do within an hour’s drive.
    Thank you.

  4. Pauline Spencer says:

This is a lovely spacious well equipped bungalow with a delightful garden. It is in a quiet location but the centre of Harlech is at the bottom of the street. The area has much to offer from amazing beaches to mountain tops – a great base for any sort of holiday! The owners, Kay and Richard are welcoming and helpful. Go for it!!

  5. Carol Brownlie and Alan Davis says:

One of the best equipped and cleanest holiday homes we have stayed in. Lovely welcome pack and very helpful owners.

  6. LISA VOWLES says:

Absolutely loved our week here in this fabulous bungalow that is equipped with everything you can think of. It is in a fantastic spot both close to the high street and beach. The gardens are also beautifully maintained and although we enjoyed our walk up Snowdon and our day in Zip-world and various other days out and about we really looked forward to going back to this beautiful home. We would definitely recommend a visit and both our dogs loved it as well. Thank you.

  7. Mrs Hebson says:

    What can I say.
We have stayed at many holiday cottages and all we can say about this one is PERFECT.
    Thank you.
    Just on little suggestion.
It would help disabled or elderly people if the fantastic shower had a seat and rails.

  8. Kate says:

Lovely bungalow just a few steps away from the centre of Harlech. The interior is very cosy and extremely well equipped and the very generous welcome basket was very thoughtful (and tasty!).
There was a lovely selection of books and games as well and it really felt like a home from home. Anywhere that has a cupboard full of cookery books gets a big thumbs up from me!
All in all a fab place to stay and i would thoroughly recommend it.

  9. Martin & Lorna Edmonds says:

This holiday home may not have “cottage” features, but it makes up for it in very luxurious & modern amenities. There were no signs of previous doggy guests, & everything was immaculate. We just could not fault it, & regretted not having been able to stay longer. A perfect, & peaceful, location for visiting the numerous trains, castles, & beaches of North Wales. Kay & Steve are very friendly owners, & promptly helped us when some lighting ‘failed’. Their Welcome Pack was generous, & delicious. We will definitely return.

  10. Mehefin is a spotless and well equipped bungalow, quiet location and close to Harlech amenities and the castle. Owner Kay was very helpful and provided lovely welcome gifts of home-made scones, milk and wine. We enjoyed our stay very much and our Jack Russell enjoyed the long and well kept garden and we would highly recommend this holiday bungalow whether you are a couple or a family.

  11. Mark Ashby says:

I echo a lot of other comments. Fantastic welcome package of home made scones, milk and wine.
Very comfortable bungalow, great views, excellent location, well appointed.
It is dog friendly, but don’t let that put you off if you have no pet. Unlike other cottages we’ve stayed in, there was absolutely no sign or smell of previous dogs.
Really would be happy to stay again.
    Thank you.
