Location

Cefn-Rhyd is the perfect location from which to explore the sights, sounds and attractions of Snowdonia. An unlike many of our cottages, it’s easy to get to. Only an hours drive from Chester or Conwy for example. Once at the cottage you’ll want to explore Llyn (Lake) Brennig nearby which provides fishing, sailing and cycling opportunities. The riverside chocolate house nearby will try and tempt you with an irresistible array of fine, hand made chocolates. And you’ll doubtlessly walk the slopes of the hypnotic Mynydd Hiraethog (Mountain of Longing) and along the banks of the Merddwr River during your stay. You’ll also have to stroll across to the Giller Arms at some point. Try a pint or two of their local ale and sample their excellent home cooked food. If only to be polite. A short drive in the car will bring you to Betws Y Coed. The village has long been a favorite of many guests to this part of North Wales. A selection of shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs can be found here. The village is most famed however as a gathering point for mountain bikers, canoeists, walkers and rock climbers. A little further again guests can visit Llanberis and Mount Snowdon as well as the Harbour Town of Porthmadog and the beaches of Black Rock Sands. Guests can relive the industrial past of the area with trips on the narrow gauge railway running to Llandudno and deep underground quarry tours in Blaenau Ffestiniog. A visit to Dolwyddelan Castle and then Capel Garmon Burial Chambers will take you further and further back in time.

We’ve just had a wonderful weeks holiday staying in Cefn-Rhyd. The cottage is beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean. Its is also in the best location just off the A5 so getting to many of the exciting activities in Snowdonia is only a short journey away. Would recommend this cottage to anyone.

Had a lovely week in your beautiful cottage, the welcome tray with tea coffee and a platter of fruit made us feel welcome. The cottage was beautifully appointed with everything we needed and so easy to get to. We loved watching the lambs in the field by the cottage frolicking around, as well as regular visits from a very friendly cat. The cottage is well situated for all the places we wanted to visit and we were lucky with the weather, even the snow. Will hope to come and stay again and will definitely recommend it to our family and friends.

We had a lovely 2 week stay at the cottage, when we arrived everything was lovely clean and fresh, the welcome pack on the table of cake milk and homemade jam and even a bottle of wine was lovely. EVEN FRESH FLOWERS IN A VASE….. The cottage is a converted barn which has been done to a high standard and has a modern finish to it while retaining its character. the owners were lovely and welcoming as where the cats. The cottage was well equipped for all our daily needs and lots of the little extras were provided. We would with out doubt re book if we are in the area again.

Just back with the feet under the work desk after a great week in Wales. We loved our time at Cefn Rhyd, the boys had space of their own where they could chill after hectic days out. A lovely spot with access to all of Snowdonia. Nice walks and runs from the door with loads to do within striking distance by car. We will return. Thanks

We had a wonderful week in Wales, despite the weather. The location and the interior of the cottage was beautiful and we enjoyed having the kittens round for a visit. Its the perfect place to be able to visit all that area has to offer. The local pub was warm and welcoming with great food and within walking distance. We had a peaceful, relaxing, comfortable week and would definitely recommend.

  11. Dr Robert Owen, Qatar says:

We had a fantastic time in Wales and the beautiful cottage and the warm welcome we received were a significant part of our experience. The cottage is perfectly situated, beautifully appointed and owned by delightful people. We will be back next year. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

  12. Roger Simes. Devon says:

If it was possible to flat pack this cottage i would take it home with me! The time and love spent on this cottage shows in the high quality of the conversion from a humble cottage to high spec holiday cottage. The interior is free from excess furniture and knick-knacks. We actually had breakfast one morning on one patio area and tea on the other patio, so it does sometimes stop raining in Snowdonia!
